I love watching you all every episode. It so real! Great job with the apartment and the raising of your kids. They are going to grow up to be what America’s all about freedom.
Love the family you have. Idea for firewood. Make a pulley crane so you won't kill the back constantly bringing wood up... also a stand for the firewood inside the apartment. Food for thought
Great job on the build. If you don’t have a log splitter you may want to get one. Your backs will be eternally grateful! Love your channel from Centennial Colorado!
Hey good morning guys hope you're having a wonderful day hope you guys are getting things done like you're supposed to hey make sure you finish the patio out there so that way nobody finishes outside the patio especially the animals and the kids all right guys have a great day and God bless you ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
ignore the negative comments and keep doing it your way. youve done an amazing job ive watched every video from the begining and ive really enjoyed coming along for the journey with you guys
You guys are so enjoyable to watch. I love that your videos are so free of drama, unlike other you tubers in northern Utah. When you come across a problem, or make a mistake, you addrss it and move on. Your chemistry together is perfect, you treat your kids like kids and let them experience life. The build has been fun to watch, keep up the good work, and now that you've found some oak - have a warm winter! Btw, originally from Pittsburgh, now living in St George.
Jen i love your hair i really liked when you jad bangs your dog is the. Sweetest dog. The cats are so lovable I know you both will decorate your new home very cozy love your videos 💗
Good morning from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. You might want to invest in to a good log splitter. It will help save your back in the long run. Try and stay away from the pine logs. It causes pine tar to build up in your chimney and could cause a fire. Make sure that you clean your chimney every year before you start up your fireplace. 🇺🇸
Had a wood stove once. What I would do when I banked it for the night was stand a few GREEN pieces in the back. They wouldn't really burn, but in the AM throw a few dry pieces onto the coals and pull the now dry green pieces over the top for a fast start to the fire. Love watching you guys go, and make. Hoping for the best for you..
Glad I herd what the black tape on the deck was for. Makes sense, I can see it now :-). I have seen a lot of that rot at the top edge of the joists. Taking decks apart.
Hi to both of you, love watching your videos, pity they are not longer, but i understand you need time to carry on with building your fantastic home life, such a great job you are doing.Bless you and the family.Originally from suffolk in the UK, but last 10yrs living in southern China...
The deck i😮 looking fantastic what a wonderful view you have love you guys Pete cape town south Africa looking forward to seeing you soon the couch is stunning
How ever much wood you think you need, triple it! Once there's snow it's much harder to find wood. Just sayin. Running out in February sucks I love your new apartment house, you did good.
Love the couch looks cozy, this ain't no race relax, do what you can on the good days, . P. S. You could stand up some plywood on the garage doors to keep the cold out, build a temporary door to get your trailer in and out.
You need a chimney pipe damper. It helps with controlling burning more than the actual controls on your stove, especially if you have a chimney fire from all the soot that you get from burning pine you’ll be able to shut it down fast.
I agree you guys are doing a good job on the house. The only issue is if you don’t get that garage, heated and closed in all your pipes are gonna freeze in the winter.
There area lot of chanells out there doing DIY,!! some of the couples on them are, like you'all are really likeable!!, some arent,!! You 2 are great (and Charlie) I love the Innuendoes, and the smiles on youre face Jen when Nick says something and you see something funny in it, Like gonna get some logs,!!😁😂 I know you cant do siding, and concrete, and garage doors, But you can Close in 1 end before the snow comes, and turns the garage into a mud pit where all your wood is stored!!, could then even keep youre trucks in there for the winter. I'm from UK and its 4.30 in the evening here half the country covered in Snow!!😞😤 x x
Doug fir, big leaf maple, and dogwood is what I used. Burned all night. Never had oak available but it burns slow for sure. Whole rounds burn longer than split. Only trouble I’ve heard from friends that burn it is the creosote that builds up when shutting the damper to make it burn longer. Now it’s all just burned in our fire pit for hotdog roasts. 😊
How much burn wood do you need? As it will last you need all you can get. Unknowing the weather or how long the cold snap will last, you don’t want to run out. In Canada we think 7 - 10 cord a winter. Don’t forget your cutoffs on your build to. It is wood.
Love how you are doing the deck, im still concerned about your stairs going to the ground. When ice gets on them its a heck of a ride when your feet go out from under you.
You should reconsider the toe kick around the deck railing. If you want to shovel snow, it is nice to have a place to push the snow. I have 3.5" under my railing which seems to be a good height to push snow under it. I don't think an inch is going to work well.
You guys have done a brilliant job on your new home.. remember it doesn't have to be perfect! All the little imperfections will remind you of the time you were building it. How about extending the hearth around your fire so your firewood store doesn't make a mess on your floor? I'm from a town called Consett in County Durham, England, and can only dream of having views like you guys do. Keep up the great work, ignore the negative Nancy's (they're just jealous) We always look forward to your videos xx
I have said it before, I love you guys, your an amazing family and just watching you build your new home has kept me entertained for months. So pleased to see in the opening sequence your furniture, made me laugh when you said you stayed up late and watched a movie only to fall asleep. As DIY builders you have done a tremendous job, and having family and friends there if you need them is so helpful. Currently here near Huddersfield, West Yorkshire UK we have Snow, now what we have currently is what for you would be a light covering. Take care and see you in the next video. Love Stewart xxxx ❤️💙❤️💙🐾🐾
Love watching you guys each week. Very fun to watch. Here's a option from the Pacific NW snowy central Washington...get an electric snow broom or small electric show blower for the deck. A lot easier to use and will start everytime! Plus it is lighter and easier to store. Just a suggestion.
Hello Life Elevated family rose stenberg from Temecula California…love your UA-cam channel congratulations on finally moving in & the kitchen & floors completed & now starting your deck …your Episode 4 weeks ago of your desert trip titled needed a much break ,I notice one of your friends riding the Ebike was wearing 1 of my Son’s DBK shirts tell him thank you for the support very much appreciated 👍enjoy all your desert trips we’re desert rats to with are son growing up the best memories (ride till the wheels fall off ) love & support from Temecula Ca😁🥰
Hello sweet family! My wish for you this Christmas is good health, lots of relaxation, and a mild winter. You definitely deserve it! Your faithful follower, Cyndi Lafayette, IN😊
I just love you guys ! I know I say it all the time but you guys put a smile on my face ! My husband has started watching also and he is learning right along with you,Nick.
Saw your positive review if your Sponsored ceiling fans so I bought two to replace our noisy bedrooms fans. Easy to install, quiet and easy to connected to “ Alexa”. Thank you your review.
Progress 😁👍🏼 I can tell ya from looking at what you had on your trailer you’re gonna need a lot more than that. It’s easier to cut it 16”-18” rounds and load it up with the help of family. Then you can see just how much you got, but once what you loaded on trailer is cut you won’t have but 1/4 of a trailer load. I been burning wood for probably 35 years now & it’s hard work but there’s nothing like wood heat in winter. 😁👍🏼
I’m not sure why, but I almost missed this video, for some reason, UA-cam didn’t give me Notification, however, just want to say love your videos love watching you build, don’t worry about the negative Nellies i’m sure the really mean ones are simply people that don’t have a life. Anyway, keep up the great work. Looking forward to seeing what it looks like when you’re done if you’re interested, check out Trent and Allie they have a snowblower on their deck and it works wonders for them. Cheers from Vancouver Island on the West Coast of Canada. 🇨🇦
Loving you Journey , Great work . I very rarely comment on videos in general. as I am always late to watch. What a great place you have keep living your own life. 🙂
Good move on the oak. I am glad you found some close. Something to add to your planning for next summer would be locating and building a woodshed. You don't want to store firewood in your downstairs or your shop permanently. Think about the footprint of your apartment and the big house and build it within reach of both...and big enough to hold 3 times as much wood as you think you will need, that way you can set up a splitting station under the roof. Mine is 3 sided, I wish I had done 4. We heat an 1800 sq. ft house with a wood stove and have for 30 yrs...these are the things I've learned over those years. We live at 4000 ft in the northern Sierra Nevada mountains, wood heat is a critical piece of the puzzle.
How long before you can get garage doors? I worry about the wind on top of the hill FREEZING WATER LINES. DID YOU ORDER HEAT TAPES FOR THE WATER LINES IN garage. You know you two have built your home faster than contractors would done. You are already in the build enjoying warm fires great family
As a toe kick around your railing I would put more cables closer together on the lowered to your deck and be careful with the gaps on your deck boards for expansion and shrinkage in hot and cold weather. P.s i love watching you both growing in your build and you only learn by giving it a go love from the big country of Australia 🇦🇺 keep up the good work 😊
My name is Jim Lancaster. I live in Aurora, Colorado suburb of Denver. I found out if you put larger oak pieces in at night. It lasts a lot longer and I get up about 3 o'clock. Go to the bathroom throwing a couple big chunks and good
Yes Oak or maple that is dry will burn longer and won't build up the creosote which is not good. You are doing what you can do with the weather you have so just keep plugin along doing a great job!
I cannot wait for the home tour, I don't care about the outside stuff it's coming up to Christmas so I am so glad ye get to celebrate Christmas with the kids in your new home, I am really looking forward to the house tour. Jen I bet you are too. Nick I bet...you are wishing for snow to avoid outside work, I would be too. Loving the vlogs I am a fan.
I’ve been watching you guys from the beginning and I’m not much of a carpenter, but I’ve definitely learned a lot from you. Keep up the good work and thank you for the teachings.
I love how the deck is looking so far. Can't wait to see the finished product. Keep warm in the winter weather. Love watching your videos and the family. From Trinidad, West-Indies.
I love watching you all every episode. It so real! Great job with the apartment and the raising of your kids. They are going to grow up to be what America’s all about freedom.
Also the Berrnes mountain dog was bread for protecting the family and the live stock 😊😊
Love the family you have. Idea for firewood. Make a pulley crane so you won't kill the back constantly bringing wood up... also a stand for the firewood inside the apartment. Food for thought
I’ve always put a toe kick high enough to get a push broom under it. Never worried about toys. As you’ve said, “the kids will learn”. 😊
So glad for the oak wood, it will last longer for sure.... Thanks for sharing
Always have fun watching you guys, Nick don’t let people bring you down dam you builded a two story house.
Great job on the build. If you don’t have a log splitter you may want to get one. Your backs will be eternally grateful! Love your channel from Centennial Colorado!
It’s looking amazing guys! ❤ I can’t wait to see the deck finished!

Everything looks beautiful. I love your cooperative effort, you two are cute together.
Good morning hope you are having a great weekend the deck
Is looking great
The place is looking great.
No negative comment here. I like the house build and at the same time I'm picking up tips as you're going as well👍👍
Glad I herd what the black tape on the deck was for. Makes sense, I can see it now :-). I have seen a lot of that rot at the top edge of the joists. Taking decks apart.
I'm so glad that you got to move into to your house before Christmas & before it get to be real winter. Love your house.
You guys are fantastic, so enjoyable to watch whatever you do.
Love you're Family Nick and Jen. You two fit well together. Love the way you interact, and your home is coming right all❤️🇨🇦
I luv your couch. It reminds me of the darker brown couch that Trent and Allie had. 👍
Love what you guys are doing.! Beautiful family giving them and your selves a wonderful life. Keep it up, I’ll be watching!
You guys are doing great. I support you all the way from South Africa. Love ya

You have a Beautiful Family, Blessings & Happy Holidays.
Be careful burning pine, it can cause buildup and chimney fires if you dont keep the chimney cleaned out.
you need some kind of over hang above your door and steps free of snow and maybe a lattice wall for the 1st landing
I think you may need an elevator to hall all pieces up that elevation. That’s going to take a lot of trips. Good luck !!
Stay warm. And I like the cocktail idea!
Thanks, you too!
I agree you guys are doing a good job on the house. The only issue is if you don’t get that garage, heated and closed in all your pipes are gonna freeze in the winter.
The place looks awesome , so happy that you finished and moved in before the snow comes

Hi from the uk 🇬🇧 & I love your decking it’s beautiful
The deck is looking great. You guys are doing awesome with the build. Watching from Crockett, California. Home of C&H sugar.

You guys have gone through a lot and it’s looking great
That deck is looking so good. So is the rest of the house. Cool video. 👍❤️
GREETINGS FROM THE UK, EXILED SOUTH AFRICAN 👍🇿🇦🇬🇧 BEEN WATCHING A YEAR, EASILY👍👍
In Ontario we can’t have horizontal railings (ladder) as it’s against code…😊❤️🇨🇦
I think heat mats for outside deck would be better, They heat up and melt snow and Ice!
Congratulations guys! Awesome job on your build

Good job on the deck!
Gods blessings over you .
I love how authentic you guys are, not fake! I’m loving your channel and look forward to your videos .
Ps the couch is beautiful
Thank you so much.
A good advice you be sure you treat that wood on top because water will remain in those divets when yiu screw those screws in and will accelerate rot
Progress 😁👍🏼
