From a Notts perspective, ,from what you've said, Matty Platt is just what we need. Everybody knows that the reason that we finished so low is that we had an unreliable defence. He is what we are looking for. Commiserations but welcome Matty Platt.

Everything I'm seeing and hearing is suggesting this has been a decent signing for Notts. We missed a no nonsense CB who isn't going to try and overplay. The wide CB's can do all the work woth the ball, we need someone who'll just protect the area and the goal. Platt might be the one
In any business retaining good staff is much better than having to recruit. We knew what we were getting from Platt week in week out. We wouldn’t have had to pay another club a fee for him to keep him. So there’s no major gamble with keeping Platt. Also given our supposed sustainability keeping players like this at the club fits, he already knows the system etc and under contract we could get a fee and sell on clause for him. But in the infinite wisdom of Ryan Sparks, he insists on leaving contract negotiations until the end of the season, so players like Platt can leave for free. The whole argument that it upsets the dressing room if you offer contracts before that sounds more like a projection of Ryan Sparks’s fragile ego onto the dressing room. If you’ve got a team crammed with players with that kind of fragile ego, they’re really not the types of personalities that will get us promoted. Not all footballers are the same, and also a new contract early could actually work to get that extra bit of work out of them if anything. Although a professional shouldn’t really be influenced either way by it (which again is a reason Ryan is just projecting his lack of professionalism onto the players). The club need to be proactive in protecting our interests and Matty Platt would have probably still gone to Notts County, but we would have got a decent fee and sell on clause. Also, it costs extra money out of their transfer budget, so we aren’t just making life easier for a competitor by hand players over on a plate like some sort of feeder club for any that are competently run. I’m not angry, I’m just disappointed at seeing that no lessons have been learned and it just serves to reinforce my belief that Sparks will never change. And Sharpe isn’t going to change that because Sparks is the man who decides on football matters still. Sharpe is just there to give him ideas that he can take or leave. And I suspect at time will come when Sharpe sees things differently to Sparks and at that point there will become big cracks in that working relationship and he will eventually leave (having taken the blame for all of the failings of Ryan Sparks). There are only so many seasons I can wait to see if Sparks has actually learned from his mistakes. And this not DOF Sharpe is a proper smoke screen where on the face of it the fans have got what they’re asking for when in reality nothing has changed except Sparks has a new advisor who’s advice he can mostly ignore. 10:30 The lack of club statement about Matty Platt wishing him well and thanking him etc is disgraceful. Especially when you consider Ash Taylor got one. And once again it is another one that reeks of Ryan Sparks’s fragile ego being hurt by Platt deciding he didn’t want to take what was being offered.
I agree with you but the contract situation I do believe that how footballers are now they are spiteful jealous egotistical individuals who no matter how poor they are they dont believe that so even someone you think is the worst player you've seen and Platt gets a contract he may believe I deserve that and I think Platt wouldnt have just accepted the 1st offer that came back in January for example he wouldve waited and accessed him options and probably moved on.
Gutted! pure and simple. We move on though, not much else to be done, is there? City could have offered an extension at the end of 22/23 season, but let's be honest, did he deserve it then? I'm not so sure. Certainly wasn't the player he's blossomed into last season. The club has done one superb piece of business with Sarcevic, I guess we just have to put some faith in the recruitment process now. I'm in my 50's, do you think I have a chance?. I've got arthritis in my knee, and a dodgy hip. Should fit right in!!

Corbyn I agree with alot you say and love your content But if you honestly think Platt is the best we can hope for we are going nowhere Defenders at this level are 10 a penny ,we'll be fine If any of them want out then let them go 👍
It’s more like Taylor’s replacement lad let’s just see is definetly a loss but must have something lined up we will be signing a few more centre half’s as system play we got Byrne in and tried to keep but obviously better financial offer was good servant but hopefully get it right and don’t look back
