As soon as I found out about this challenge, I was looking forward to what you would be coming up with. Nobody on UA-cam can do more with a simple sheet of plywood! Doing all this without a CNC is all the more impressive.
absolutely the same thing I was thinking!
Really appreciate that! I do love to use plywood!
No shock Shaun but your rockin’ Rockler Rocker rocks my socks off, real talk.
That's what I'm talking about.
Shaun , this is absolutely creative and beautiful 😊thank you enjoyed watching your video as always .
Really appreciate it, Mahendra! I'm really happy with how it came out!
Dude... great build, and great video! The lines of this really take it to the next level...especially the curve through the lumbar support (or is it lumber support :) ).
Thanks, man! I think in this case it is indeed lumber support.
I spot a CCS shirt! I was born in SLO and lived around there for 20 years. Miss it. I'm loving your work!
Good eye! I went to Cal Poly, and my girlfriend's family used to own CCS. Glad you are enjoying my stuff, thanks for watching!
Game's over. You win!
Haha, thanks man! Everybody has been making such great stuff, it is just fun to be a part of it.
Dude you did a pretty good job yourself 👍
Shaun, your designs are out of hand! You're massively inspiring, thanks for producing this content!
Really appreciate that! I'm always happy to hear when I have inspired someone, as I have been inspired by so many people over the years.
- BEAUTIFUL piece. GREAT artistry. VERY creative. Thanx 4 sharing.
This is definitely the coolest one sheet of plywood project I've seen so far. Great job!
Thanks, Mike! Really appreciate that!
Beautiful piece, thanks for sharing the detailed process of building it with this two part series!
Your channel is very inspiring, and it gets better and better :-)
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it and glad to hear I am getting better!
Wow Shaun...what an awesome entry to the challenge! Such a beautiful chair - great work!
Really appreciate it, Dan! Thanks for watching!
I just love your video style, from the camera angles, storytelling, music and humor. Thanks for these awesome projects.
Right on, glad you are enjoying them! Thanks for watching!
That's really awesome Shaun. One of the best entries I've seen...love the look and design of this chair...could see this in MCM nurseries all over!!! Need to get atomic ranch or dwell to pick this up. Awesome job buddy.
Thanks, Pat! I am really happy with how it came out!
Hands down...… best one I've seen. Great, great job!
Really appreciate that! Thanks!
This is quickly becoming one of my favorite channels!
Awesome, thank you!
Awesome piece of work. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you! It is actually really comfortable, which made me very happy the first time I sat in it.
ROCK on! I love this!
🤘
Looks awesome man!
Thank you! Really appreciate it!
Love it! I think you can have a lot of fun with this design in the future as well, it would be interesting to see it made with different colors of plywood.
Thanks, Jon! I totally agree, I really wanted to use different types of plywood, but wanted to stick with the constraints of the challenge. Definitely will revisit this piece in the future.
Awesome chair and awesome Hay Merchant shirt! H-Town, baby!
This is amazing great job
Love it man. I look forward to your videos every week or so.
Awesome! Really appreciate the support!
Been watching your videos for some time now and I just started commenting on a few of the guys l like to watch. your videos are always awesome and great to watch, I am a full time woodworker and furniture builder and I love what I do, its always nice to see others that are passionate about woodworking as well. each piece you do definitely shows that for sure. thanks again for another sweet video.
my website in case you care at all is www.braxbyswoodwork.com.
Awesome, man! Thanks for checking out my stuff. Just took a look at your website, and you do some really great work! Always cool to hear from people that do similar work, keep it up, man!
Man this is amazing, what a beautiful piece of art.
Really appreciate it! Thanks!
Wow shaun, you knocked or (rocked) it out of the park with this one. I didnt know you could do such a great build with just plywood. And great sense of design on your part. You should be very proud of yourself for this one. I got inspiration for my next build by watching this video. For that i thank you. Keep up the great work. Your coming into your own now with this new format of yours. Congrats bro!!
Really appreciate it! Thanks for watching and I'm glad it gave you some inspiration!
Shaun killin' it as usual! Fantastic.
Thanks, man! Appreciate it!
Another great one! I am always messing with double sided tape on templates, but I never considered screwing the template down when you’re just going to double up the boards anyway.
Thanks, Sean! Yeah, that is the best part about doing the laminated plywood pieces, double-sided tape can get pretty annoying.
Nice work bro! I’m watching and learning
Awesome! Thank you!
Cool build, Shaun! There you go with those templates again! Ha ha. But that’s why it turned out so great!
Thanks, Bruce! I would be nothing without my templates!
Hey Shaun, perfect result - plywood is such a great product. Greatings from Germany!
Thank you! I agree, plywood is such a great material to work with!
There was been some really good builds, but only one GREAT build. Awesome mate I am totally impressed. 👏

Shaun Boyd love your channel, your humour is right up my alley. Plus you make awesome furniture.
Now that is really good. Have some 30mm plywood given to me from a friend in London that's been put to one side for a while but now after seeing yours, well rocking chair here we come. Another great vid, well done. From sunny North East Coast, England. Cheers Peter.
Awesome, glad you will be able to use that plywood! Thanks for watching!
Excellent craftsmanship Shaun!
Thanks, David!
That music is so perfect for this Rockin Video.....Cant get enough of that chair.
Haha, thanks Dan! Had to keep it rockin'!

Well done! Nicely built and good looking!! 👏👏👏 I heard from Mike Clifford that you'll be at Maker Faire. I hope we get a chance to meet
Great build and video! Very nice entry for the challenge. Also, I like your format. Really nice balance of entertainment and instruction/demonstration. 👍👍
Really appreciate it! And yeah, I will be at Maker Faire on Friday/Saturday, I can't do the whole weekend unfortunately. Looking forward to meeting people!
Отличное кресло. Твои работы вдохновляют. Сделаю такое же. Спасибо за видео!
Спасибо!
simply beautiful man really beautiful
Really appreciate that, thank you!
Really like this piece, can I suggest maybe a video talking about the thought and design process you go through to create these curves? I would love to re-create this for myself but I am little stumped thinking about the shape of that seat and then the angles of putting it all together. Do you design these out in Sketchup or Fusion first? Even then you need to have great visualization skills.
Thanks, Wayne! I have definitely been thinking about doing a video(s) on my design process. I don't use Sketchup or Fusion, just paper and pencil, then a full-size drawing on MDF. I touched on that a little bit in my template video from a few days ago, but could definitely go more in-depth about it.
I need a new office chair, I like really high backs, I do believe this chair nails it. Thanks so much for the great input.
I'll watch the video 100 times more. You have made is seem simple.
Awesome, glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching!
Love that rocker
Thanks!
Shaun Boyd made this? I love it!
Haha, I'm a literal guy.
This rocking chair is bad ass my man. Im a beginner and its a little bit out of my difficulty level but I will want to make it someday. When I have all your badass tools. Thank you for making this video.
Thanks for watching!
nice, i'm gonna go make a couple now!
great looking chair and a top video
Thank you!
I love rocking chairs and this is definitely my favorite to win the challenge! :)
Thanks, Erik!
This reminds me a lot of someone else who does car audio work on UA-cam. His creativity and use of router templates are similar only completely different projects
Awesome chair to rock out in.
Exactly! Thanks!
Gorgeous chair Shaun, love the lines on it. How many man hours did you have on this project?
Thanks for sharing!
Thank you! This one was probably about 30 hours.
Look real good great job.
Really appreciate it! Thanks!
Winner winner!
Haha, thanks Sam!
So good dude!
Thanks, man! Appreciate it!
Very Cool! I like Plywood too! ROCK ON!
Awesome! Thanks for watching!
Love it!
Thank you!
Master ! No doubt.
Really great design and build. Absolutely love it. Question: If using more than 1 sheet could you make the rockers/legs solid/one piece instead of segmented? Thanks, and you win imo.
Thank you! Really appreciate it! You definitely could make the entire leg portion as one piece if there was no limit on material. I probably still wouldn't just to minimize waste, as the center portion of each rocker couldn't really be used for anything on this piece.
Dude! Love this
Thanks, man! This one was super fun to make.
Awesome job Mr. Boyd, tnx for sharing it. New suscriber here!!!
Really appreciate it! Thanks for watching!
Great piece 👍🏻
Thank you!
Hey Shaun,
Great job on the chair! I'm definitely going to be creating one myself.
You used two sheets for the sides panels.I'm wondering how comfortable is that on your arms after sitting in it for a bit?
Thank you! Yeah, the legs are doubled up, so they are about 1.5" thick. The chair is really comfortable, though I haven't sat in it for long periods of time yet.
Nice work!
Thank you!
