Hello from a fellow WV dairy farmer. Love your videos and content. Keep up the good work. Favorite part was frying bacon on the wood stove in the hunting shanny!
This brought back memories of hunting with drivers and standers back in Wisconsin in the 60's & 70's. After I flew South, I became a member of the Vaughn Creek Hunting Club in Southwest Arkansas. Dogs were the drivers there instead of people on the hunting crew. We had 23 Walker hounds that we'd alternate 7 at a time, giving the other dogs rest between drives. It was an exciting moment on a stand when you heard the dogs hit on deer scent and come closer and closer, louder and louder, and you knew you would see action shortly. The man with the dogs saw many opportunities, too, when deer were bedded down low and tight, sprang up from their nests as they eventually became unnerved by the barking of the pursuing dogs. These are deer that many drivers on deer crews in Wisconsin, walk right past not knowing that deer are hiding in the grass and brush.
Thanks for sharing the video. Hope y'all have had a good season and you've gotten some more deer. I have a 3/4 hp grinder and it does pretty good. Wouldn't go much smaller maybe bigger. I always buy some beef fat from a local store that cuts it own meat and mix it with my deer burger. Y'all take care.
I think knowing how to process your own meat is a good skill to have. My family all does our own meat processing, most everyone has their own smokehouse. We use a grinder that's been in the family for years, came out of a butcher shop when they upgraded. Don't know any specifics but I'd estimate the throat is about 3" in diameter, it will really take the meat! We can grind a 25 pound batch of meat in less than 5 minuets. I will say don't get one too small, have done that and it took nearly an afternoon to grind the meat from one deer. There's lots of experimenting to be done with different seasonings, we have our own kielbasa recipe and have been satisfied with using LEM seasoning for summer sausage and ground meat jerky. We made pepperoni for the first time this year and used Hi-Country's original recipe seasoning, I have no complaints! Local butcher and grocery store meat departments are also a good source for supplies.
Gundersons locker in Mondovi makes the best venison ring bologna period. German seasonings adding pork trimmings. Especially for old bucks. Just boil and serve. Even better as sandwiches cold. Good luck filling the freezers. Dad loved to hunt after maytag service calls in Buffalo County bluff country and river bottoms.
Great video!! I got a 3 pt and a doe by 10:00! I miss when we had enough land and people to do drives it’s just my brother and I now. I’m in Vernon county Wisconsin!
Opening weekend was kind of slow by me in Juneau County, WI. I did get a decent 8pt on opening morning, but out of my group of 7, I'm the only one to even get a shot off. Where about are you guys located? Judging by those hills, I'm guessing somewhere in the Driftless Area!
Very few people do drives in my area. Almost all still hunt from blinds and stands. Not many large parcels, and adjoining land owners have their own deals with hunters.
We raise turkeys fresh for Thanksgiving. I had 20 in movable hutches. Every night I was going out to feed and move them. My border collie and i would track out. There were deer out there every night. Sometimes I could be 50 feet from them.
Ps seasoning. They have the best seasoning mixes for brats. Great summer sausage seasoning too. Lots of different flavors. Mushroom, bacon cheeseburger and philly chessesteak are great ones. LEM grinders are quality and well built.
Butterfly the back straps. Marinate in 2 parts Worcestershire sauce and 1 part soy sauce. After marinating stuff the butterflied back straps with onion and chive cream cheese. Next, wrap in bacon and grill. Dont over cook. Medium or medium rare venison is best. Enjoy!
My husband and I cut our deer into steak, ground, roast and stew meat. The stew meat or even cube steak is great as spiedies. Its a NY dish, basically kabob.
We burn wood furnace for our heat an we've seen as many as seven deer between the house and the machine shed eating Dad's white cedar trees. We can shoot out of the back door as long as we don't hit the shed.
Me and my brother in law took his middle son out to hunt,,we spotted 1 four point coming our way 10 min later he shows up ,my nephew shoots him 30 06 180 grain ,,i said lets just wait sure enough here comes another thought it was a big doe ,nope big 8 point he shoots and drops it on the spot 16 17 onch in side spread,, not bad for his first hunt,, i taged 1 and my brother inlaw taged the other,, its all good having fun enjoying the time whole we can
❤😊DEER HUNTIN WAS A LOT OF EXERCISE !!! 10 am WAS THE MAGIC TIME FOR ME TO HEAD BACK TO THE FARM AND HOP IN MY TRUCK AND GO INTO THIEF RIVER FALLS AND GO SNOOPIN AT 3 TRACTOR DEALER'S AND TR SALVAGE AND GO TO JOHNNY'S CAFE FOR BREAKFAST !!!! THEN DRIVE BACK TO THE FARM AND WALK BACK TO MY STAND AND SIT TILL DARK !!!! ❤😊
We get all of are stuff from rural king or even local butcher or sporting goods shops have all the mixes we use a smoker have dehydrator for jerky and a cheap meat grinder always gets the job done
I've hunted deer all my life, but when the deer numbers get low, leave the does & fawns alone, till your deer numbers come back! You really don't need them few pounds of meat, thats not called hunting!!
God bless you happy New Year’s hope you guys Christmas is all well and all our family is a military family. Yeah we have farms. Feed the chickens and if you have pigs hogs whatever you have to feed them and it’s a good life clean life and the food oh my goodness is just amazing. We had cornfields, wheatfields and yeah I miss it. Some of our family are we had farms in a damn Brogdon Braska, and it flooded so our cousin Justin took over the farms up there, the farm up there and end-all, and. We had a good childhood hard workers are grandma and grandpa are grandpa grandpa grandma was sick, but grandpa taught us a lot of stuff in and he was awful good with me and I learned a lot. He's got the craftsmanship shown by your family
Hello from ontario Canada. We had a pretty good opening day with our group this year. 4 deer in total.
We always put our hunting clothes in the cow stalls for a couple days before hunting.
Good luck and stay safe.
Bearded Butchers is the place to get your seasonings from to make your own sausage and hot sticks. They have step by step videos to watch.
Good video. Hope you had a great season!
I bought a LEM grinder at fleet farm quite a few years ago and love it for what we do.
I second the lem. It’s relatively cheap but is definitely worth it.
Thats big buck country. And you get a good work out up and down the hills..
I LIKE THIS POST. THANK YOU.❤❤❤❤

like the Lem #12 grinder. We turn most of the deer in to jerky. Grind twice and then use the jerky shooter to make strips.
I always built a fire when hunting, the deer smell the smoke and get curious and come and investigate! Not afraid of the tractor either!
Hope you had a Great hunt !! Opening day at 7 am !! Shot a nice 10 point, not huge by any means but I am fine with that!! Shot with a 350 legend
🐮…….”What are you doing out here?”😂🤣😆
Great video nice hunt be safe
Wonderful video Aaron ! Such a beautiful farm!
Are there any upland game hunters in the family?
Opening day here in East Central Iowa sounded like a war zone shots in every direction all day
Congratulations

Wandering = hunting
Pretty sure I'm just down the road from you, couple miles. Maybe that. Really really slow on our farm, I seen 15 deer in 12 sits.

Shooting was real sparse here in SW Wisconsin opening day. We did manage to harvest 2 deer in our party

Black Cherry or any fruit juice of choice instead of water in crock pots, roasters will knock down the gamey taste..
Your little brother needs to start a hunting channel or even a gierok hunting channel lol

A Carnivore 3/4 hp from Cabelas, work awesome
Why do you have bells on your cows???
Ring sausage. Visit a local butcher for spices.
A classic Wisconsin deer hunt. Sitting in a box and frying bacon. The only thing missing was the smell of beer and pizza farts in the air.
Do you gift wrap?
Be careful on drivers shooting

Watch Machinery Pete TV December 7 2024 they hi lighted a four row ear picker I know you would like one
Sounds like Mason is the jagdmeister.
A blind with a wood stove you can cook on is pretty close to a illegal building you can't hunt out of in my opinion
THESE AMERICANS ARE DOING NOTHING WRONG.MIND YOUR BISNESS PLEASE. 😊😊😊😊😊😊
I'm not jealous. I prefer to hunt treestands off of the fields. It would be nice on a rainy or 10 degree morning.
Mason and s stunning love to be in the shack with him
People that think they need to drive first day of deer season should learn how to hunt
I used to wait until the last day of season then drive the timber and call it a wrap
Their hunt their land they can do whatever they want.
@mikebrown1188 walking right next to their neighbors is pushing deer out of their neighbors as well
@@craigadair128what is wrong with that
If you can soke venison in diesel fuel for a week it might taste better
You haven't tried deer tamales.
