    We just got an above ground pool it came with 1 side steps & the other a ladder. The special industrial bags that came with it teared immediately :/ & it came with 100 lbs of sand. We are going to put a mat under the step also I hear it helps protect the liner. Ghanks for the tip.

    Thank you. From a weight standpoint, I’m now good. However, out pool floor is not level. Do you have a suggestion on what to use underneath the steps to level and not damage the liner? Thank you.

    how do you get the wedding cake stairs out of the pool during the winter? You have to go underwater to unscrew the bolts...

    Mine take up water in the rails and the sand bags I took out end up full of water and moldy. I am thinking with the mat and screwing it to the deck may be enough. I know if water got in the sand my son in law did a crap job of screwing the caps on the sand bags. Point being it was HELL getting the bags out for a good vacuum and for the winter so mine are NOT going back in. I will take a little bounce 😂 and a mat

    My husband and I purchased a 54" above ground pool, and are looking for solid stairs. Most are for the older pools that aren't as tall and the descriptions are vague saying they fit from 48"-54" on most I'm finding. We definitely need taller steps as we're building the deck over the top ledge of the pool. Can you recommend a company & model (preferable wedding cake, or wide steps) that we can purchase online because we live in Maine, and as you can guess we don't have a ton of pool stores here and none of them sell stairs. The ones I do find have terrible reviews. Thanks! Diane

      You might be running the risk of having a first big step coming onto the stairs because I don't really know any steps that are designed for the application you're trying to do. Your best bet is probably to maybe build a step on the deck down to the pool stairs.

    We have one that you pour the sand in the arms of it and it made it nice and heavy.

    I just bolted mine to the rail,like the directions said.It doesn't move one iota.Also I put stable 12 by 12 bricks under the outside feet for stability -LEVEL

      We have a ballast that goes across the bottom sides of the pool. We use 50 pounds of round river rock sitting in milk crates to weigh down the steps. We attach a bungee cable with SS s hooks around them to keep the crates from moving. We’ve done it for years. In fact, we place the crates on the ballast and lock them in place with the bungee cable and just shimmy the steps to the pool edge and drop them straight down. They land about 6” away from the pool wall and we walk them back to wall and attach the straps to our Trex deck.

    My ladder has little holes in it. Like it's suposed to let water in and the water weght holds it down. How would sand work in that. wouldn't the sand escape throught the holes?

    I just had a new liner installed. The steps have created a dent in the cove. Should I worry about that cove issue or try to put some foam under the back edget and rounded corners?

    • @abovegroundpros
      @abovegroundpros  5 років тому

      If it's just a minor Dent then I won't worry about it as long as it's not a huge wash out.

    • @swingdangler
      @swingdangler 5 років тому

      @@abovegroundpros I put a couple of pipe insulation pieces in the dents and then put a pool step mat on top of that. Hopefully that will settle indentations.

    Should the bottom of the ladder/stairs be resting on the top rail of the pool . My steps are wobbly , but there’s about a 2”-3” gap between the underside of the top step and the pool rail.

      It depends. Different manufacturers do it in different ways

    Can you put steps like this in an intex pool?

    • @abovegroundpros
      @abovegroundpros  10 років тому +1

      Maybe or maybe not. With the Intex, the wall of the pool has a big curve at the bottom and this curve may push the steps out into the pool instead of being able to sit against the wall. You would have to pay attention to this as you shop for steps to make sure the steps you choose would work.

    Hello what the best type of steps for an above ground pool, thanks

    • @abovegroundpros
      @abovegroundpros  5 років тому +1

      I don't know that there's necessarily the best type just whatever fits the needs that you have but I would recommend whatever step you get that you get a step pad to go underneath it to protect your liner and you'll be fine.

    • @abovegroundpros
      @abovegroundpros  6 років тому +3

      +Chris Thoms you'd have to grunt them out of the pool to get the water out.

      @@abovegroundpros what does grunt them out mean. i left mine in and the winter cracked the handrail. ordered new parts but want to remove them next season

      It means you're just going to have to pick him up and lift them out even if they're heavy
