Phoenix is my favorite hero in all of dota, kit just has so much potential, with few restrictions on how much he can do. Plays much like a passive damage aura, dealing constant damage to nearby enemies. Main downside is he needs teammates with crowd control to take advantage of his slow but powerful spells. Also try a build with a bunch of spell amp, sunray’s %hp damage scales really well with it. Could also get ethereal blade and/or orchid if they lack dispells.
Grubby phoenix is my main hero with over 2300 phoenix games. It climbed me from Crusader to Ancient. If you ever want to really learn how to push the hero to the absolute maximum no matter the situation let me know! You'd be the 3rd phoenix to reach the upper ranks i've taught!
Hope you love phoenix and will play him more! He is meta viable now and can play all but pos 1 if needed, but maybe best as 4 atm. This hero is amazing low MMR hero, since players are picking so random stuff and often refuse to pick the position they initially intended if they get a bad matchup, in middle especially! (this seems to be a new trend, before everyone were fighting to get to pos 2, now everyone pass it like a hot potato) Also, 95% of under ancient players don't know how to play vs Phoenix since his kit is so different and he is not played that often in pubs. (but gets played and banned even this TI11 just few minutes before I wrote this comment) so you can get away with stuff you maybe shouldn't. The advantage of being able to smoothly transition into any role from any other role is amazing. His mobility is unrivaled, he has one of the best dodges in the game, and a spammable low mana low cd AoE dps with one of the biggest attack speed debuffs (this is why he is amazing mid, you can completely deny auto-attack heroes last hit). And to top it all of, you have a ray damage spell that does % health damage (and gives you unobstructed pathing), so even endgame your damage is viable no matter how beefy enemy gets Also all of Phoenix's skills have insane range, and he is one of the best jungle farmers/stackers as well, and can stack (even clear) camps without leaving lane. Especially with the upgraded AoE atos Phoenix egg is now practically unkillable for most enemies. Only thing where phoenix sucks big time and can't do at all without itemizing, is siege damage. HOWEVER, since phoenix can actually use items, even channeled items during her dive, you can use the relatively cheap meme hammer (Meteor hammer 2350gp) that not only has amazing stats for phoenix, but also allows him to be one of the safest siege heroes in game, making him very good at breaking onto high ground at late game at low MMR pubs when everyone is too scared to go in. Either by safely whittling out the structures with meme hammer or using your insane range and egg to harass the defenders away from their defensive positions. You can also use dive to place dangerous wards! Most Phoenix players don't even realize how versatile his kit is and use only a fraction of the power he has. Oh man my favorite hero, but due to countless nerfs I don't play her much anymore. Her fire spirits dmg used to be way higher and sun ray used to do pure dmg. You played phoenix offlane, and that did actually used to be a thing, but it's really not anymore nowadays mostly because offlane is a lot different now. Just some dota history incoming. Offlane used to be called the suicide lane because the offlaner used to go solo while the pos 4 was either trilaning safelane/jungling/roaming. So offlane was basically for heroes who can survive solo, even against a potential trilane, and soak a lot of exp for level advantage. This level advantage alone allowed offlane heroes to get kills solo against trilanes. Anyway, I miss that old offlane. Nowadays, offlane can farm as good or better than their own safelane and a hero such as phoenix cannot really capitalize on better farm. Offlane phoenix still works good with the right draft and with a better team ofc

The small phoenix around him were not damage over time debuffs, but quite strong spell damage. Each could be cast separately and did burst damage or burst heal. The way the hero is right now seems incomplete, as he lacks any source of proper damage, so he just seems like a teamfight hero that is very dependent on teammates. That is a pity, you used to be able to body people with phoenix. There is a lacking element in his kit right now, as you can debuff enemies so that their attacks are super slowed, you can chase them with icarus dive and phoenix ray to deal damage and you can escape with icarus dive and ult. However there is actually no reason for the enemy to ever escape you. Yes they can only slowly attack you, but you are not dealing any damage and you are more of a threat if the enemy runs away so their best course of action is to attack you even if slowly. So without a team, it seems like phoenix is just a hero to waste enemies time, where he used to be a threat.

i cant tell if Grubby is sleep deprived when playing xD, its insane the things he doesn't see. ofc i dont expect him to have map awareness or positiioning, but seeing a ward or using an ability thats on the bar is the bare minimum xD my boy left the lane with a full wave of creeps coming to go attack the ancients... haha
I love this hero, perfect pick for baiting the freethinkers of dota into guaranteed snapfire and marci picks, which we can then counter. Ursa is fairly strong vs phoenix, but this was still a pretty good game for you!
If you just used your ult even without your W on them in the last fight in the middle they would either start to hit you or panic running or worse ignoring and recieve lots of dps and stun from you and your carry would kill them all in either senarios the irony was you need less hit to die in your normal form than your egg form
you have to understand the pace of the game. If you see 3 heavy carries in the opponent team and on your side is only one carry you have to pressure their towers go for ganks and not farm. Especially not as phoenix who is only support. Otherwise you will lose the game 1000%ly in late game. Time is playing for the carries. Phoenix is a little tricky and you have to practize quite a bit to understand all his mechanics. Not a bad first try though.
Well, even though the game has shifted towards farming over the years, the old rock paper scissors should still apply. Push beats farm, beats fighting, beats push, or in other words, punching towers beats punching creeps, punching heroes beats punching towers and punching creeps beats punching heroes...
@@naphackDT Not against mass carries, which farm much better in late game and profit much more from it. Only if the teams are ballanced. Then farming is the way to go. If you go farming with supports you will lose badly in late game and cant stop the dmg output.

Phoenix is an amazin hero, but his kit is really team dependent. He has these cool escape and chase spells and debuffs that stops enemies from doing much damage and punishes them when engaging or disengaging, however he does not do any damage. Sure the enemies will attack you in slow motion, but there is nothing stopping them from doing so. That is exactly why you need damage dealing allies to complete his kit. If you have damage, enemies cannot kill and cannot stay, so when they run away, you can use your biggest damage dealer "sun ray" to punish and kill them. But if you have no allies, they can just sidestep your sunray and you have no damage suddenly.
He was myfave in dota1 Not soo much when it came to do to2 His w was better in dota 1 (bigger so easy to hit ) He was my core no sup always onwing the enemy team alone ,
He jungles on every stupid hero except when he played Phantom Assain, then he was in every fight xD, i'm starting to think hes doing it on purpose badly xD

I remember the small phoenix birds being burst damage instead of an damage over time debuff, so you could actually burst people down and when they tried to run away, sun ray would slow them and damage them.

Targeted spell •3rd Skill - Costs Mana and Health per second, deals base and %health of the enemy over time also slows. Ability has no CD but has initial mana cost whenever it is used.

So Being Really good than your enemies won't help u gain MMR, U have to be slightly good than enemies and Not spam Meepo , ARC ,LD , Ember , Naga ,TA like heroes to win games

@@jaded-harper Phoenix has 5% pick/banrate in TI11. Higher than many other "meta" heroes like Spectre, Dazzle, Magnus or CM for example
