I appreciate the tips, but I kind of want to see how far you're turning the wheel, either to the right or left to make sure you don't get too close to the curb. An instructor showed me how and it worked when I was with him, but I just tried it on my own and I ended up too far from the curb and at some point I did hit it. My test is next week, so I'm really nervous about it.
Is is required to put your right hand behind the passenger seat's head position, or near the gear shifter while reversing? I see you haven't used anything as such. Is it fine for driving test in Canada?
I'm speaking from the perspective of a U.S. citizen, but I do not believe it is *required* to put your right hand in any particular position, but I do know that you are not allowed to look anywhere besides your mirrors or the rear windshield. Many of my instructors have advised me to lift my body a bit off the seat while reversing to get a clearer view, and while doing that, many people put their hand on the chair for stability. Hope this helps!

I usually tell students to turn a little early, make themselves parallel to the curb, and then make micro adjustments to get closer if they are too far.

It's the same angle that your right windshield wiper is at
