@@SeraphimBarca So I am full of praise for Russia! what happened to all those wonder weapons, the Himars, Leopards, Abrams....? How many countries against one? How many countries against poor Iraq, Libya, Yugoslavia....? They may print that paper money it is not going to change anything on the battlefields
It's a multitude of things but this is probably the best way to explain it, after 20 years of war with an enemy where round the clock artillery duels wernt a thing, production and manufacturing energy was used else where.
Plus its an industry that’s defined by extremely long periods of low demand followed by massive, unpredictable and short-lived spikes during wars.
That’s basically a nightmare scenario for any manufacturer, you either have very angry governments demanding 10X production yesterday, or you are stuck with loads of idle machines.
On top of that, it’s low margin, you have to compete with government-owned arsenals that don’t have to care about profit, and the product and inputs are explosive and accidents can destroy your entire facility.
There’s a reason why almost all ammunition companies are either 100 years old or are are boutique operations. Getting to the point where you can churn out millions of rounds a month is really hard.

Get rid of the bloody bridge NOW
I do not see the urgency. While the threat is there, Russia has to keep a force there to protect it.
early on, when still considering the Spring offensive (before they were let down on supplies) they said the Bridge was needed for the occupiers to leave by. Then destroy after so they cannot return.
Not sure how serious this was or just an idea for consideration.
Russia is building a railway line all, along the occupied areas to approach Crimea over Ukrainian land at the moment. For freight/supplies. So they have a plan B alternative to the bridge.
@@Kath-nd6pj. The bridge is a western fixation. Russia will be disappointed if it's destroyed but they'll rebuild it when the war's over. Crimea was supplied without a bridge for a long time before the bridge was constructed.
This guy being interviewed is talking absolute nonsense.
@@markbryant4641 You've put the cart before the horse - Crimea was seized in order for the bridge to be built to supply the Ukrainian invasion. It would be a huge blow to Putin's prestige AND the Russian war effort if it was put out of action for the duration of the conflict.
@@heycidskyja4668. That's interesting, Heycidskyja. I haven't heard that theory before. Food for thought.
Personally I think the most obvious reason for Russia to take Crimea back is the actual reason. Crimea has Russia's only warm water port. Russia had access to the port when Crimea was Ukrainian, but it was obvious that Ukraine was siding more and more with NATO and Russia was going to lose the port.
Destroying the bridge won't end the war.
Especially now. It's too late.
Do you really think Russia will be stopped and pull out of Ukraine because the Kerch bridge is damaged to the point where it can't be used?
It looks to me like Russia is going to take Ukraine's entire coastline. What is the value of the bridge compared to that?
Before the American elections, the EU must organize its military Coordination Center before the elections in America. Anything later will be too late.
Very true. Europe must be ready in case the worst happens in the US.
The European NATO member states have decided that the HQ for the support of Ukraine shall be in Europe and not in USA. Biden has been involved in the process
Europe IS ready - most European nations are NATO members and the NATO setup is - if not easy to copy/paste at least known area and therefore a good sound basis for a European "Command & Control" setup
As a Yank, I would say that would be a prudent path forward for Europe.
Agreed, looks like Trump may win again. The Warriors Of Sacred Mother Europe must be ready, don't rely on The U.S., Putin must be brought down by European Warriors, not Slags from The States.
Really excellent interview. Insightful, well informed and clear. I learnt lots. Thank you.
Macron talks the talk but to date France’s contributions to Ukraine has been lame compared to Germany 🤨
May be it's been lame for the reasons that they're thinking putting troops on the ground.
If not their regular forces, they could use their Foreign Legion the same way Russia uses the Wagner Group.
Either way Ukraine with its manpower shortage isn't capable of expelling Russia even if the supplies return.
They're going to need some help, we're going to need to supply it.

Ukrainians are able fighters!
Ukrainians are world-class engineers, ITs, researchers, skilled workers, etc!
European, including Ukrainian, military capabilities, must be rebuilt, taking into consideration the experience and realities of this war!
Someone described Putin's threats of nukes recently as a scarecrow, and effectively, that's what it is. And I will add also, that he's like a dog growling and baring it's teeth to it's would-be victim and saying, you hear this growl of mine, and you see these teeth of mine, you know what I'm gonna do with them? I'm gonna go... BOO! And everyone runs away. Putin has been doing that all his life and has got it down to an art.
Well that ,, someone" didn't watch the news when Putin fulfilled that Boo, and started a war.
Lets test him as someone living South of Australia - I say go for it
Everyone knows this. It's just NATO is trying too not fall into the trap that they were trying to break up Russia. Which has been Putin's excuse for invading Ukraine.
yep - your right
That’s the point of having nukes isn’t it? The idea of threatening the use of them but never actually using them.
The alternative is using them, others using them in retaliation. And we all die.
Maybe like Laurie said Australia might be far away enough to survive. But that probably depends how many nukes are fired and how widespread the nuclear winter effect is etc
Very good. Thank you.

Phillip the absolute Irish nut ,Scottish maybe 🤫
Judging from Russian accuracy any nuclear strike at England has to really worry Iceland
You are mad
Where on earth did you get that from, Donald?
Russia can hit anywhere on earth now with missiles that there is literally no air defence for. They're up to decades ahead of us.
If you're talking about their artillery systems, their main artillery pieces aren't as accurate as some that we have, but hey they've destroyed the vast majority of Ukraine's weaponry as they had on Feb 2022 using that inaccurate artillery.
The proof's in the pudding, mate.
Using mostly inaccurate artillery Russia destroyed Ukraine's original army. The second army used to undertake the first offensive. And the third used for Ukraine's counter offensive.
FAB bombs. 500, 1000, 1500kg glide bombs that can hit with pinpoint accuracy.
Up to 500 a day were dropped on Avdiivka in the last week before it fell.

Not true with grains. It's Russia delivering grains to the most poor regions like Egipt Algeria and other countries in Africa. Ukraine were sending their goods but until black sea was blocked. At the moment there is no economical sense to send it further than to the surrounding countries like Poland Slovakia Hungary or Romania. It destroyed their agriculture sector because Ukraine has a huge areas where they grow plants, and surrounding countries can't compete with them. Why they are doing that? Because the cost of road transport has an impact on price on the end and no one would buy this goods. Unfortunately only few (around 8) people from Ukraine has a huge profit from that trade, and they are destroying EU market.

As is usually the case, "Frontline" conducted a fantastic interview via an extremely interesting & relevant discussion with a very level-minded, learned, and highly-informed guest!👍IMHO, Mr. Ingram communicated his extensive wisdom in an efficient & impactful manner. Well done! 👍
FWIW, I would like to add that any discussion of compromised 'western' governments (..which has taken on heightened importance since February 2022..) must *not* be limited to Germany & the weaknesses/challenges associated with its leadership. Instead, any discussion regarding compromised 'western' governments MUST include some investigative & challenging questions regarding (a) the real allegiances of the Republican Party in the U.S.A., plus the often feckless & flaccid approach to supporting Ukraine the world has seen from leaders & governments in many other 'western' allies of Ukraine.🤔There is no doubt that the world needs to thoroughly understand the *real* reasons why much of 'the West' has really dragged its feet when it comes to (a) approving & providing sufficient quantities of all the equipment, weaponry & munitions to Ukraine in a timely manner (*), (b) declaring Russia a terrorist state, and (c) financially de-empowering & severely punishing those who are part of/supporters of/enablers of the Russian war machine & Russia's war crime-ridden forces (...e.g. Putin, Russian oligarchs, 'western' businesses circumventing loophole-ridden sanctions to supply Russia with banned technology & materials, uncooperative banks in many 'western' nations which are refusing to divulge & release Russian holdings, 'western' media knowingly perpetuating false Russian narratives, etc., etc...)🤔
(*) FYI, prior to 2014, the Ukrainian military & advisors/experts from a number of 'western' nations conducted theoretical war games & analysis for the purpose of identifying exactly what military assets & training the Ukrainians would need to repel a full-scale invasion by Russia. This 'wish list' was in the hands of 'western' governments & military leaders 8 or so years before the full-scale phase of Russia's invasion of Ukraine began in 2022, and an updated list was provided by Ukraine soon after the full-scale invasion. Despite all this prescient research & preparation, the world watched as 'western' allies of Ukraine wasted time approving items from these lists, took far far too long to provide all the assets on the list & still refuse to provide others, and when they were finally provided, these assets arrived in insufficient amounts. Not only do these embarrasing & frustrating realities provoke a lot of fair questions from supporters of Ukraine, but the lack of political will, lack of preparation, and inefficiencies needlessly caused the lives of countless Ukrainian men, women & children!😡
