Mi hai regalato un momento di gioia, grazie Pat
Truly a beautiful piece. I've loved guitar for nearly 50 years (liked it at 3 year old) and have listened to classical guitar for nearly as long. A good friend who played got me interested when we were in school....I was a fan of some guitar players like Chester Atkins, Jerry Reed and of course Maybelle Carter. I bought an album of Barquoe guitar and played the grooves off it. Then I discovered Segovia....the master. And now through the internet another master Pat Coldrick.
Thank you indeed Jerry:)
Jerry, while stationed in Italy I was fortunate to hear Segovia in person. He truly was the master. I also heard Chet Atkins with my sons. What a priviledge.
Dee Tucker I would have loved to have had a chance to sit close and just watch Segovia. I've watched tapes and just been mesmerized. Mike Robbins, who I grew up with, was a fantastic player by the age of 16. I remember sitting around with him while he was practicing a new piece that required thumb and three fingers, the string finger was curled up between his usual style of thumb and first two . The ring finger was playing a constant row 1/16th notes or somewhere along there while the others were ice skating all over the strings. I had never seen that done, it looked horribly painful and he said he'd been working on it for a week and still did not have it down.....a week! He tried to teach me to read music and he did give me some tools in my playing to dramatically help my self taught style of bluegrass/folk music but two things I always wish I could do is play perfect violin (one of the few instruments that brings tears to my eyes when a masterfully done piece is played) and be able to play anything I wanted on guitar. I was always an eclectic soul. I love almost any music done well from steel drums to bagpipes (yes I have lots of Protestant Irish blood) to opera (Wagner, my favorite), old mountain fiddle and banjo hoedowns., heavy metal guitar rock, southern rock, western swing, a Capella gospel, shape note singing, southern gospel, bluegrass gospel....notice a trend?, vocal opera, almost anything....jazz, blues, zydeco, anything except rap...I just do not consider that a music form. There are wonderful soul, rhythm and blues, even Gregorian chants....but not rap
Thank you Jerry for your kind words and wonderful story): Like you i was inspired and still am by the great Segovia. Its nice to meet you):

I like it that he doesn't overclutters the arrangement with slurs, pull offs and other embellishments but keeps the melody in focus in every beat of the measure. What a tone and what a beautiful melody
