If you want low rolling friction from wheels with chunky tyres, put a low profile narrow ring around it. You can use a torus, or a bevelled tube so overhangs are printable without supports.
Thanks for the tip. With these cars I was finding that the smooth wheels did not grip at all. I was actually creating some friction by using a gear for the wheel.
