Really neat video. I was able to download straight from Canva into Tinkercad. You need to "share"/download as SVG but make sure to select transparent background or you get an entire sheet of shape.
EL wire is completely different than LEDs and LED strips. It’s a wire coated in phosphor which is then covered in clear PVC and sometimes colored PVC, and is powered by alternating current (not mains power obviously, the battery pack contains an inverter). The wire itself emits light giving it a neon-like look.
EL wire is already covered with at least one coating of PVC. It’s not something that’s typically covered because the light is continuous and not that bright. LEDs are point light sources so usually have a cover to diffuse the light and sometimes attenuate it, and also to hide the wires and electronics. With EL wire it is the wire that emits the light.
@@HLModTech Thanks for making this style of LED light, I have been wanting to do something like this for so long. I too was hoping to see maybe those extra steps to put some type of cover on the sign.
So I put that filament in my design with a thin white cover on it and it was not bright enough to be awesome. This one. ua-cam.com/video/CPV5rgnb1Lg/v-deo.html That led me to just having them sit in there.
@@HLModTech I took a break from Tinkercad for a while. By the way, I have 14,000 notifications, but I won't check them yet. I'm also learning Blender. But I'll be back soon. I saw that some new features have been added. It's time to get new Staff Picks!
@@HLModTech You can do everything from modeling to animation in Blender, it's quite difficult, but I'm doing quite well. Luckily, there are thousands of blender tutorials that are as good as your Tinkercad tutorials :) Definitely give it a try, maybe you'll record some tutorials someday.
@@MarcelP.123 that’s good to hear. I think I would find a lot of times where it was pretty darn nifty to be able to use as well. I appreciate the nudge. 👍
I have not made an item larger than the build plate yet. I do have a project coming soon called Gloop. It is great for gluing 3D printed parts together. Maybe that will nudge me into the large print arena.
@HLModTech yes Im making big 3d led and having hard time how to seemlesly cut the letter and glue back. The goal is to hide the joining letter and looks good
What color will the back of the LED be? www.youtube.com/@stldenise had a large 3D printed sign at the MMRF festival... She may have some great ideas on her channel.

Nice! I do not have the pro version of Canva... That is why I do my screen shot work around.
@@HLModTech Oh of course. I forget to look for that. Love all your Tinkercad Vids!
Thanks!
Thx :-)
My pleasure @SebastienPONZANELLI. Thank you for the note! 👍💯
Awesome
Thank you!
Hey there

Very cool! Thank you for clipping me in!
I would love to make this into a lightbox. How would I make a lid?
Never mind. I found your other vids. Thanks for these videos!
Glad you tracked them down. 👍
Looks great! Surprised though that you didn’t include a translucent cover.
Thank you. I’ll experiment to see if a cover is a bonus. This LED system does not emit a ton of light.

@@HLModTechthanks. I’ll take a look over that one
You forgot the link to the neon tubes on the description,,,or I’m blind and I didn’t see it
🤦♂️ will do right now! 🤦♂️
Fixed now. I plan to explore other lighting options too. That was super easy, but I am interested in making brighter versions too.
@@HLModTech thank you sir!
Hello :)
Great to hear from you bud! What sort of creations do you have going in Tinkercad right now?

Electronics is my area of expertise. Send me a chunk and I will do my best to reverse engineer it. And another excellent video brother!
Thanks tons! Will get you some of that stuff on the way. 👍
how to do cut the letter if the build plate not big enough

@@HLModTech black indeed
Boy my wife is going to be soooo mad at you if you make me buy a 3D printer :P
Lol. We need to find something she wants from the 3D printer... Jedi mind trick. =)
