A lost art that I think of cod zombies is to make a very simple map like town or the other simple maps you would play when you want to play with friends not having to worry about things
Come to think of it this is probably why BO2 is my favorite. Something I like about BO2 is the fact that while we got a lotta answers, we got just as many questions that haven't been answered
it’s crazy how after roughly 10 years after these games have been released there is still little Easter eggs and parts of the story still being solved and maybe yet to be solved and I think that carries on the forever mystery of the old games
I think black ops 3 ruined the story. The mystery of world at war, black ops 1, and victis black ops 2 were all in the environment. Then Blundel took over and just answered every single answer with the timeline, which sucked and I didn’t care for zombies anymore. My hot take is Black ops 4 on the aether side actually did more mystery callbacks to black ops 1, especially in alpha omega and tag Der Toten.
I think when Jason released all of the zombies lore, the interest was definitely lost for me, but when it wasn't I still think Black Ops 3 and 4 had some good mystery
@@Drrpy better than Cold War that’s for sure. Which sucks because I actually took time to learn the story and so much could have been in the game. But I think by Mauer Der Toten and forsaken they finally made the story worth following

@@Kix3333ee i see what you’re saying but that wasn’t the main focus to an extent in gameplay. the eeriness, the mystery, the zombies were front and center.
Love your videos duck man, you put into words why I fell in love with the lore and style of OG zombies. The mystery was a big part of the allure, and that pool of shared knowledge and theories across the community brought a lot of people together.
Kino der Toten is such an odd setting if you think about it. It's a former theater, that was turned into a movie theater, that was then turned into some sort of Group 935 facility. My headcanon is the people working there were planning to show off the teleporter technology to Hitler and his officials but never had a chance to.
Good hypothesis! I'm excited for Zombies '24 but I'm also nervous, I don't think Treyarch has had nearly as much time on this game as people think. I also am not certain they know how much seeing the highlighted objectives makes me instantly sad.
In all genuine honesty I never liked how much was added to the zombie game mode/story from BO2 and onward… everything in WAW and BO1 was so simple and easy to follow with an incredibly mysterious/dreadful/eerie feel to it that kept you HOOKED to the gameplay as well as the story going on in the background of the map… all the small/little hidden details MADE YOU want to explore the map even when you were just a causal player that was only trying to make it to high rounds like how I was… then there were those moments of discovering secrets by accident that scratched an itch you never even realized you had for learning the story… BUT THEN…. BO2 comes in and it feels like a story is being shoved right in front of our faces… now it wasn’t as bad in BO2 but… if you were only a casual player… you definitely would’ve noticed… then the writers over did it with different timelines, dimensions, and evil entities/forces that TURNS OUT were the ACTUAL reason that everything was even happening in the first place… and that only resulted in the story getting too convoluted and confusing to follow anymore RATHER than it being somewhat grounded with the “hidden conspiracy” feel it had going for itself from the beginning… it was originally just a newly discovered element from a meteorite with unknown powerful energy emanating from it that was the cause of everything happening concerning the zombies… now it’s just generic evil entities from another dimension that is the cause of it all… and that’s just talking about the story aspects of zombies… the gameplay…? the gameplay made me feel like I was FORCED to do certain tasks in order to do what was simple in the original WAW/BO1 zombie maps… and if I didn’t do those certain tasks I wouldn’t be able to have a somewhat casual run in any map save for MAYBE Die Rise… now… people will probably hate me for this but ‘Mob of the dead’ ? The story is actually very interesting but I hated how much I NEEDED to do in the map to, again, have a casual run… and from then on things ONLY GOT WORSE
This why I think BO2 zombies is better than BO1. The amount mystery and lore with story was immense. I remember all the UA-cam videos on all the different Easter eggs and people trying to figure out how everything connected (ex. Bus route B). And with each map release it only got deeper and better. I think it made the feeling of the game much scarier because there was so much with so little explanation. It truly made me invested in the game mode as a whole as each play through made me want discover more so I can try piecing the story together.
WaW - BO2: An interesting story that was driven by the community, left a lot to the imagination and allowed the community to come to their own conclusions BO3 and BO4: Self retconning clusterfuck with constant forced exposition which uses a multiverse as a crutch for bad writing
The Gaming Landscape changed, and the people making what we liked and more importantly grew up with changed. The only people that can replicate that kind of mystery are either the originals or followers of methods passed down.
Hi Drppy. I stumbled upon your videos and really enjoyed how it was set out. So much so i've started my own channel and posted a video yesterday. Thank you for the inspiration :)
Black ops 1 was my favourite for maps and black ops 3 was my favourite for gameplay bec it was the original maps which you got 14 different playable zombie maps as well!!!
Interesting video! Question, so am I lazy or stupid when sometimes resorting to looking up things on YT or reddit for guides and such? I'm just learning Origins atm, and if I were to do that without looking anything up, I think it would be a very frustrating experience.
Dude do not feel lazy or dumb I promise especially with maps like origins and dead of the night, it is going to take u a looooong time to learn. I have been non stop playing this game for about 5-6 years now and I still have to go and look how to upgrade the wind staff on origins. Don’t get discourage dude this is part of the fun 👍
