I used to play this regularly. Real shame it got shut down. Only issue I ever had was the 900 ping always online servers. Wish someone would make an offline client
Yeahhhh looking over gameplay it was clear that the FPS and ping was just horrible but I would love to experience this game one day
Man I remember trying this game for the first time. Me and my buddy said our PCs setting location to China and we were able to sign up and play this game. I don't remember having to sign up for that special social media account to let alone leading that special Chinese code you mentioned. I don't remember what it's called.
I think we just made an account for the game after resetting our PC locations, no VPN required, and we were having a lot of fun with that game. The campaign was pretty decent, the multiplayer was fire, and the zombies was so unique. Now as a zombies fan I will say it was nothing like the original zombies. But in his own way it was pretty damn good. And it was fine because we already had regular zombies as is. So I was completely fine with this version of zombies doing something completely different. It wasn't Treyarch and we already had theirs. Was I going to complain that the Call of Duty with modern warfare in Black ops assets wasn't Black ops 2? No because we already had Black ops 2.
I wishcall zombies did more innovations like Call of Duty online because the way they did it was fucking fire. At least some of them. I didn't get to play all of them. Or it changes over time. And now after watching this video I missed it. I wish it would be brought back online.
Especially since I have a second no commentary gameplay Channel just for video game preservation, this is going to make the hunt for video game footage for preservation excruciatingly difficult since I can't go back to the game to get it myself.
Is anybody out there reading this comment who is very serious about getting preservation, please start recording video game footage of multiplayer and live service games. It don't matter if you still have the original files. Because once the server shut down, it's gone for good. All that's left is footage to even remember what it looks like or how it played. You can't preserve the players or the servers. You can only preserve a moment in time when it was functioning.
And before anybody complained about the innovations they've been making to zombies, there's no such thing as bad ideas, just bad executions. Because even with regular round face zombies they have found ways to do bad executions of that. Not every trailer ground beef zombies map was gold standard. Everybody hates transit. If you heard about the development of Transit you would have heard how awesome it sounded and just how ambitious it was. What they delivered wasn't really that great. Primarily due to the limitations of the hardware of the time, but nonetheless it was what it was., imagine how great a revisioned Transit would be without the fog. They can leave more Easter eggs around. Maybe they'll give you control of the bus to a degree. Make it to where you can go long around. Now the zombies won't be coming strong and durable like normal zombies, but at the very least you can add more to balance that out. Fighting massive waves on such a big and ongoing map on a bus at a crush them no matter what as long as they don't get on board.
but then again, maybe I'm making a revisioned version of Transit sound even more ambitious than the original. Point being a had a lot of good ideas and it did some good execution with those ideas, at least the ones that I've experienced. While at the same time still having classic zombies. If trailer was to do this more, I think people will be a little bit more happy. Don't like the new innovations? You still have the classical map to go to.
Or, if people don't like having them wanting the same game we can have one version of Call of Duty with the regular base zombies, and a spin-off that innovates. Heck, that's how I view Call of Duty online. It was just a spin-off that did a lot of great things that made the game pretty damn good. And it goes to show that when they want to, the Chinese can make some great shit. Even if they're using already existing assets and an existing title. That came out recently. Haven't played it, but people are freaking loving it. Video game footage, I got a pretty decent capture card from china.
Imagine a world where you hear the words made in China and you think good high quality. Does it sound feasible, but it's possible. If they really wanted to, they good major industries top-notch quality if they stop cutting so many corners.
