My 03 Silverado has had its instrument cluster replaced too many times to count. Back in it's day, when getting a replacement the parts store handed me a form to fill out. I had to sign to verify the mileage that I didn't know exactly because the unit went dark. Just guestimate it is what they said. Later on when clusters started becoming available in the salvage yards I just bought them there. Whatever mileage was on it was fine by me. I owned the vehicle until the frame was junk then it went to the crusher. Well over 200000 miles odometer only showed 95000. 😂 Any legal documents had a ball park mileage submitted so I was the only one to ever see the actual cluster mileage display.

I respect what you do, but most repair shops make this out to be JFM. Its not that difficult.

I'm stupid so explain to me why no milage correction and no air bag reset.

Contemporary equivalent of an ddometer rollback..kinda illegal.

Odometer editing/changing is a crime, correction is a grey area, so I'm out, not worth the hassle, there are thousands of other broke cars that I can fix instead. SRS resets are ethically an issue as most of those modules are not designed to ignite airbags more than once, so clearing data turns the light out, doesn't ensure the module will work and save a life again, so that's a BIG NO. OEMs say replace it, so we do.

Because lawyers can and will sue you and take everything you have just because they can argue their point in a court of law and win.

@@L1Trainingisn’t the odometer reading saved on other bcm? If so wouldn’t it be illegal not to correct the reading on the new bcm? If not wouldn’t you have whatever reading the replacement bcm have? Just curious.

Great demo as always, seems pretty straight forward, clear and concise. Very much similar to many out there if one simply pulls up a quick search.
Not sure, but I guess I wasn't that aware that many people out there are crying like babies about some informative content, I guess not being on FB keeps me from the not so happy stuff being said.
I could probably guess as to why they might be crying but I'm not sure, all I know is that you and others help to put out helpful educational information in order to display proper ways of doing stuff and if someone does pick up something useful from it, hopefully it will help avoid disasters of mangled workmanship that is harder to rectify when it comes to your shop in that way.
Just because information is put out, doesn't mean everyone is going to run out there and do the same. Just cuz "The Cake Boss" displays in detail how the construction of crazy obscure cakes are made, doesn't mean we all now are going to open our own cake shop and do the same work. All it does is educate us as to what craftmanship, skill, experience, equipment is needed to get the job done and who is qualified enough to do it. I would say it might just help deter others from attempting what is way out of their league and draw more business to you out of fear and lack of confidence to attempt to replicate the work (or screw up your own wedding cake)
Just going out on a limb assuming what people are crying about, thanks as always for the good content, and the STX ADAS class was super, thnx!

Repairing a module that was programmed wrong so it would be plug and play.
