    I think what's the most amazing thing about this is that you carefully laid out jumping through each part of a multi-step, multi-phased process so that anyone trying to reproduce can be as efficient as you are with jumping to other tasks while other items are going through their cooling/long cooking stages and then pulling it all together in the end. Great work!

    I meal prep lunches and dinners as a busy homeschooling mama of 5 hungry boys. But usually cook a hot breakfast each morning. Which pushes back school starting because I’m always getting interrupted. This is so smart!! I definitely need to do this!! Thanks for the inspiration and the great meal ideas.

      We also moved across the country from California to Wisconsin. Everyone thought we where nuts. Haha We are in Southern Wisconsin and are praying for a little farm of our own. Until then, we have a little urban homestead.

    Wish i had seen this sooner. I only cook for two now, but these would have come in nice when I was working full time and all three kids were home. I will try several of each recipe to take when we are camping because they will be easy to pack and clean up at camp will be super easy. Thanks for your video. God bless you and keep growing.

      Thank you! I didn’t have time when all my kids were little. I have many older kids now that help out. My kids are usually just finishing up school and heading outside to play while I’m filming. Also, my older kids don’t usually want to be on camera, so they might be helping or around me but avoiding walking in front of the camera.

    My husband works out of the home 2 days a week and takes the bus so he has to get up pretty early as we're about 45 minutes from the office. Anyway, the night before he goes to the office, I like to prep oatmeal in the crockpot. He just has to pour in a jar of water and turn it on high for 2 hours. I do 4 cups oats, 1 cup powdered milk, a couple tbsp sugar, and a pinch of salt. In a half-gallon canning jar I put 2 chopped apples, a tbsp of cinnamon, and top it off with water. The cinnamon keeps the apples from browning. :)

    • @TheFromScratchFarmhouse

      Ha, my kitchen does definitely make things easier! If it helps, I did much of this in our tiny trailer for years before we got to move in to our beautiful home. It takes about an hour the night before and then most of the day, but that's dealing with kiddos too, so probably a few hours of actual work.

    First time on the channel and I love it. What are you using for the yogurt parfaits? Is it a plastic cup with a lid? Is there a container like that I can purchase economically in a dollar store?

    • @TheFromScratchFarmhouse
      @TheFromScratchFarmhouse  Рік тому +1

      I’m so glad you found me! The yogurt cups are actually just 8 oz. (Aka jelly jars) glass canning jars. You can get them in big packs from most stores. The plastic lids are from walmart and are made for putting on canning jars after you open them. For the 8 oz jars you want the “regular mouth” size.

      It takes a good chunk of the day just because I’m having to care for kids and sometimes homeschool alongside the food prep. I just plan a day where that’s my only big job to accomplish. My big kids are a huge help. They can either help cook or help with littles. If you don’t have big kids, I’d suggest getting some special activities out for littles to keep them occupied.

    Making those breakfast burgers I would cut them all, butter them all, put eggs on all, burger meat on all, cheese on all & top. It would be a lot quicker OR if you have the helpers 1 ingredient or step per child.

    I love this video and the ideas. I care for my 86 yr old mother and it can be difficult to encourage her to have breakfast with any bit of independence. Something like these ideas, I can see her grabbing a jar and finishing it off herself. She always used to prepare her own breakfast and enjoy that bit of cooking that she has left - but these last few months I've noticed she's not doing the cooking options and mostly just eating the packets of instant oatmeal. I have steel cut & rolled oats, cream of wheat and dried fruit / nuts, but she no longer makes them. I also have yogurt, fruit and granola - but she never puts a parfait together but will eat it if I'm making them. So, this would be helpful and maybe she would grab it.
    I hate her losing her independent breakfast time and being stuck with whatever I'm having when I cook, especially since I'm a bagel & coffee person and rarely make something more. I hate pointing it out and making her feel put on the spot, so something like this would allow her to simply get her meal herself w/o making a fuss over her no longer using the stovetop. She does use the oven, so those breakfast sandwiches could also work. Thanks again for the ideas!
