    This has to be the best meal plan video I've watched. I've never seen someone lay it out this way. I'm horrible at sticking to meal plans...especially weekly ones. This seems extremely doable and flexible. Thank you! 💚

    *mind blown* I’ve never heard of a meal plan set up like this & I LOVE IT! I can’t wait to give this a try ☺️ I’ve always struggled with sticking to “theme nights” meal planning so perhaps going by the rotating protein will be easier to stick to

    My best friend had eight children, She would have LOVED this! Very good meal planning approach. I like the protein columns. We are two households on our working farm. My husband cooks dinner at the main farm at noon. I have to watch that he doesn't come home to the same protein! So having a running list for both houses would come in handy. Yes I have tried to do that on a small scale in the past, but we shut the farm down to the public in March 2020 and have been scrambling ever since to run it with just three people! Add to that that we are all over 70! So far so good :-) ~ Diane

    So I've been delaying setting up our home inventory because it's just too nerdy but this video has renewed my spirit 😍 I installed a software application called Grocy on a server of mine, and it lets you do exactly this--keep a household inventory of every item you own. It also tracks prices and estimates the cost of your next grocery haul. Using it in conjunction with your meal planning process should be spectacular!! I thought planning a month's worth of meals was too much, but THREE?? A YEAR?! HALLELUJAH, I love it!!!

    This video is stellar!! I've been trying to figure out how to do this for my family for a while. I must admit I have a difficult family of picky eaters who also happen to be disorganized and a bit lazy. However, over the last 4 years we have become a criminally fast food dependent lot. I've been laid low by illness/surgery and my husband has a childhood trauma from eating left overs.
    Getting this organized in a step by step manner is an answer to my frustration. Thank you!

    I am doing something similar. I set up a weekly rotation of....Pasta base, vege based soup, Beef based, bean soup or baked beans with sides, chicken based, pizza or seafood, and chili with tons of peppers and onions. By having a soup every other day I also have a healthy lunch the following day for the children without much meal prep. By incorporating beans every week I will go through my bean storage. Pasta is easy to store everything long term as well and one can store a variety of sauces for them.
    I love your detailed approach to ditching the grocery store. I am ditching Walmart for Aldi and Azure😁 and also hoping to can most of our beans and veges during this next season. Healthy is my goal for this next year.

    Super thankful to have found you. I have so many questions. How do I change our family's eating habits, we are walmart junkies too and I so want changes to take place in our family. We live in central Alabama. I have started teaching myself to grow the past 4 years, or this will be my fourth spring garden. I have never preserved any of it. I have had many trials and errors but this year we may actually be able to eat and save some of our food, if I can get my husband and kids to try. How do you make kids try when their dad wont try certain foods?

    • @TheFromScratchFarmhouse
      @TheFromScratchFarmhouse  3 роки тому +1

      First of all, I'm so sorry I'm just seeing your comment! Apparently I don't see all of the comments on my phone and need to look on my computer. Anyway... I think the best thing we have done is take it one meal at a time. Breakfast was the easiest. I literally sat down with my family and we discussed what healthy options they would eat. I wouldn't focus on forcing anyone to start eating certain things. Instead come up with some healthy options that everyone is on board with. Then, after you get in the habit of a "real food" breakfast, tackle lunch. Check out my video on breakfast idea for more tips. Also, I have noticed that my kids will eat more fruits and vegetables if they get to help grow them. Maybe helping in the garden would help! Hope this helps, but feel free to reach out to me on Instagram as well!

    this is super helpful, thank you! Question, I assume you switch out recipes in blocks when you want to try something new or find a new favorite. This doesn't throw off your long term planning too much? How do you recommend switching out and trying new things in the rotation?

    • @TheFromScratchFarmhouse
      @TheFromScratchFarmhouse  2 роки тому +2

      So sorry for not responding earlier! Yes, when I want to try something new, I just do! No need to change the plan, there may just be some meals that we don't make that month. The idea behind the meal plan is simply to have enough on hand to make enough meals to last us. I never feel bound by it if I want to mix things up.

    I'm a new subscriber! Do you just use one column for your weekly meals or do you pick and choose when you do meal planning? Do you grocery shop weekly? Meal plan weekly? Thank you!

    • @TheFromScratchFarmhouse
      @TheFromScratchFarmhouse  3 роки тому +2

      I have everything on hand for two weeks at a time, and shop every other week for perishables. I shop every 3 months for nonperishables. This way, I can pick and choose from the first two columns of my meal plan, and then from the last two columns, as I have everything I need on hand! Hope this helps!
