Remember that most of the people from launch dont even wana touch this game, and hello games wont be trusted ever again
Master Penquin - Oh well, hope they have fun traveling the high road and patting each other on the back, I guess.
I can understand the frustration at the initial launch, buut I think it’s time to get over it.
I'm weirdly proud of the comments on this video, it's a nice surprise in 2019 that people can see how rare and redemptive the studio's actions have been. I believe in credit when it's due.
Silverfirefly1 I remember every previous update the comments were straight garbage, the game is still shallow, they still lied, it’s still a bad game, etc etc now it’s all straight joy. It’s amazing.
No other studios care enough to put this much effort into fixing a game. The fact that they made all of these massive updates free is extraordinary and renews my faith in humanity
Silverfirefly1 I like Big Macs.
Gotta love the Na Man's Sky Community, it's so wholesome
@@LuxJosh yeah, very wholesome indeed. Gotta respect their dedication too. Been following NMS for 3 years now, glad I picked the game..
If this was EA they'd call it "No Man's Sky 2" and charge 60 USD.

More like "No Man's Sky 2 - Ultimate Edition"
Yeah haha imagine a game with no man's sky in the title releasing with literally no content for 60 dollars haha. That's something only EA would ever do
Each update would be a separate game. So this is NMS 4 Gold Ultimate Team Champions edition

Honestly I no longer have any hard feelings for Sean Murray. He’s the nerd in all of us. He wanted all of these things in the game he was only limited by his own ambition
Jackson Winburn In hindsight we might’ve been too hard on him.
@@Howlhilt I also judged the guy too soon. He did lie to us about most features but he ws planning on adding them. HG have truly gone above and beyond.
@@LucasCarter2 Sean Murray repeatedly lied in interviews about game features and content. He may have redeemed himself, but he deserved all the hate he got.
I was thinking just the same thing to be fair, a little In over his head, but a lot of respect for sticking with the game instead of just ditching it in the style of the large publishers.
@@pierreo33 are you still angry with him?
Got to give him props for not giving up on the game after all the hate and proving everyone wrong in these new updates

Just to say he never “proved anyone wrong”. The dude genuinely lied about features of the game at launch.
@@shaunbarclay1309 this instead playing it safe by saying '' most of features he said on the interview is a future plan '' he just said yeah, yes, sure, maybe while totally hyped for it

@@GFlight.916 did he really lie though? He delivered everything promised and even more. It was Sony that rushed the release. And you act as if you've never lied in your life. Lying is an awful thing to do but if you're still worked up about a lie that was 3-4 years ago and the liar has done more than repent of their actions, then the only person being dishonest here is you.
Why is it so wholesome seeing Sean talking about the game passionately
I feel the same way. I think it's because of the story of No Man's Sky, Hello Games as a studio, and the fact that this was his passion project and despite all of the odds, he refused to give up on it and overcame it.
Because he's not lying this time

I remember how nervous and upset he was to describe the game first.
Now he's inspired, confident, and excited.
That's what success is.

Green Boi he still sounded a bit nervous don't u think?
Yeah I'd be pretty nervous if i was lying through my teeth and knew i was eventually gonna be caught
He is probably nervous because there are going to be hundreds of thousands of people watching him and he is not used to this

2016 - Lie
2019 - Lie
He is much better now
You gotta respect this man. He didn't give up despite people making fun of him and his game nonstop, instead, he showed love for his game and his playerbase without expecting anything else other than redemption.
While people were working on their jokes, Sean and his team were busy working on the game.
And ever since then it was nothing but great update after great update.
This is how you regain a community's respect.
I respect people who aren't liars.

This is almost emotional. A guy with an idea who at first failed but kept going and created something amazing, something exciting and something that in all honesty could change the way we look at games. (I dont even play No mans sky yet so no bias here)
Yeah, me either, but that'll change soon. Was never sure if it was just the type of game I'd like. But this past Black Friday NMS was on sale for $10, and I'd heard rumor of it adding VR, so figured why not. Since then I've been working on a backlog of countless other games I've gotten and waiting for this update. I want my journey from the beginning to entirely be in Virtual Reality when I finally do play through No Man's Sky.
Shannon Shifflett I think you will be more than satisfied! 👨🚀
The problem why it failed at first is because they rushed it out after fans and kickstarter backers complained and sent death threats to them and the producers, so then they rushed it out skipping an extra year of development time
CJ P. it’s called forgiveness. if you want to be the type to hold onto that forever even after someone more than makes up for the initial mistake then go ahead. They could have abandoned this game but they instead continued developing this game and making it the game it always should have been, and for free.

Then Sony pushed them to release before it was ready, and he had to face a lot of backlash. You can tell he is still super passionate about the game, but is reserved while talking about it since he doesn’t want to have to face a bunch more backlash if something he talks about isn’t able to make it into the update for one reason or another.
@@EtanChamare Plus, their office floaded and they lost a huge chunk of work as the flood ruined all of their equipment, I believe I read.

@@EtanChamare Indeed, he was super passionate from the beginning and all the features he promised eventually came out. Now, I find it a little funny when he mentions a feature, but then quickly breaks it down to the very last patchnote of the feature just so that we don't get the wrong idea about it. He's a cool guy.

It's been said 1,000 times better by others, but Sean Murray and his team at Hello Deserve massive praise for their ability to take that failure to launch No Man's Sky to what it is today. Day One they were called Charlatans, and it looked like we had another Peter Molyneux on our hands. Now this game is BEYOND (pun intended) the expectations I had when they first announced it. Game Devs, be more like Sean and Hello Games.
they were called charlatans for a reason. They sold 60$ game with none of features they promised
@@ThePaypay88 and you just missed everything he said for the sake of disagreement. He agreed that they stuffed up but is praising them for turning it around
@ThePaypay88
And they still made up for everything and gave us more than that. If you think the game is still bad because they lied then you’re missing out on a lot.
see, the problem with other game developers is, they dont know when to stop. they make a failed game, charge $60, then they make dlc that hardly adds onto the game, charge $59.99, and they keep going from there
@@ThePaypay88 Someone made a mistake in the past, they redeemed themselves, but according to you there's no repentance and redemption? Have you never made a single mistake in your life?
I got No Man's Sky last month and I haven't been able to put it down. It's everything I've wanted in a space exploration game. I can't wait for Beyond!
I'm starting with this next update! Really excited about the vr part. I hope it lives up to the expectations.

That's flawed logic. Everyone's a liar.
No words can tear this down. Sean Murray is a living, active testament to artistic vision, passion, and commitment. People can say what they want about what happened in 2016, but there must have been something bigger happening...
Because there's no way someone with this kind of artistic vision honestly wanted to scam people and lie to them. Sean is a champ, and Hello Games is someone I now expect great things from.
THIS MAN REALLY LOVES HIS GAME
Todd Howard learn something from this guy.
Thanks for the likes. To be clear I know Sean Murray lied but in today's gaming industry where EA, Bethesda, Activision lies about a game and after release aborts the game as they already made enough money. Example take a look at FO 76 after its disaster Bethesda even had the guts to appear at E3, EA now promotinhmg FIFA abd Star Wars but what about Anthem? Sean got trolled heavily in 2016 for lying and he could have aborted the game and move on m but he kept making the game better which for a new indie developer is difficult. Here you guys replying that Todd should learn lying from Todd should realize that if you disrespect Sean you put him in the same basket as Todd. Stop buying EA, Activision, Bethesda games and support Sean so that developers stop lying about a game.
ikr!
What do you mean? Todd Howard invented lying, they're practically brothers. Although I guess Sean at least made his company fix the game.
@@deaconoob You made it clear you knew exactly what he meant
Todd already learned something from him. Lying.
@@deaconoob Not Todd Howard this lying practice was started by Peter Molineux. BTW Sean is better than Todd because he redeemed and admitted his guilt whereas Todd lied so much never worked on mistakes and apologized to gamers.
Such a great game. Sean has set a great precedent for all other game publishers.

People may forgive, but they should never forget.
Yep, always gonna have that in the back of my mind whenever updates come out. But tbh they have more than redeemed themselves at this point. Other developers could have just taken the money and ran, the fact that they’ve managed to turn it around at no expense to the players says a lot
The difference between what he is saying now and what he was saying during launch is that there is now gameplay footage that directly supports whatever he talking about in this video. Ya'll neet to chill.
I don’t think he’s lying this time. But your point is wrong as he did an entire E3 demo before the game came out that had things that weren’t in the game.
He's a scam artist, who needs to chill brainless?
There was gameplay footage before too.
That makes it even worse :/

Granted Sean got carried away in the early days, but he has clearly learned from earlier mistakes and now is much more careful to manage his enthusiasm, THIS is why we need more people like him, most/many people just go on making the same mistakes over and over. We also need more people who when they do make a mistake then proceed to make every effort to correct it, instead of just slinking off or attempting to lay the blame elsewhere! Also after all the vitriol directed at this guy when NMS was launched, (which continues even now), I have admiration for the fact he will still sit in front of a camera and talk about himself and his game. if they were to focus a entire massive update on one feature for me, the biggeset stuff I would want over all is simply exploration, more planet variety, more species, and species parts and such variety, more plants, more buildings, more exotics, basicly just double or tripple whats in the game now, all the extra stuff is nice, but to me the biggest and bestest parts of the game is still the finding new and unusual things.
