I attended the show twice and there was NO lip syncing. They sometimes had backing tracks for the music but the singing was live or they didn't get on. That was the rule of the show. NO LIP SYNCING allowed.

There is so little footage of Jimmie Spheeris that this is just precious even though these aren't my favorite of his songs. If you're hearing him for the first time, please go listen to "I Am the Mercury" or "The Dragon is Dancing."
This is incredible-I’m a big JS fan, but never imagined I would actually be able to watch this type of quality live footage of him. To think both Steve Miller Band and the BeeGees were about ready to take the 70s by storm. Two groups that were in the process of reinventing themselves. All be it different directions. Steve Miller’s next three albums became rock anthems and mega hits and the BeeGees more or less invented disco which was the precursor to today’s RandB and hip-hop and the rest is history. Amazing when you think about it.

Didn’t realize Steve Miller played the harp so well, wowza he’s so hot here and love his voice~bluesy & jazzy! 😮💨
I'm 70yrs old and still love Barry as much as I did when I discovered who they were!!!
At 63 now we use sit up as 10 -14 yr old kids just to watch these friends stay over on Friday we put down blankets on the floor n fall asleep about 3 songs in ,then go out the next day n lie to each other saying I didn’t fall asleep 70s kids or better yet 70 s moms n dads. Thanks
Wilson Pickett was amazing. Withe The Bee Gees much more too.
26:51 Look out!!! Wolfman Jack's coming in for a hard landing.🤣😂😅
That last song by Steve Miller “Shu Ba Da Du Ma Ma Ma” really spoke to me, love it & think I remember hearing it many~moons~ago . . .
“Holiday” by The Bee Gees is goosebumps inducing & a favorite, love them in all their incarnation’s (I disco danced), but their early stuff hits me in all the lil’ sweet spots. Genius talented musicians!
It's definitely "Living in the USA" either way it's still gonna be EPIC (as usual). 🥳🎉
They were so great
This set off all kind of Nostalgia bombs in my head, miss my youth and better days....
We as teens were mesmerized with these concert shows. Watched them every weekend!
John Kay rocks!!!
Thank you Bert for putting these out they are amazing
I like it when they actually played live with a band instead of lip-syncing.
I attended the show twice and there was NO lip syncing. They sometimes had backing tracks for the music but the singing was live or they didn't get on.
That was the rule of the show. NO LIP SYNCING allowed.
Wow, born in the 60’s grew up in the 70’s too! Best time ever for music ! Steve miller was great here never thought they were that soulful ! I remember every Friday night ( or Saturday) staying up late just for this! Bee Gees really are the best of all time ! Great episode❤️
Can't wait! I'm sure they'll be as hilarious as ever. 😊
Great show! Love the Bee Gees.
It’s ever so slightly disappointing that the featured songs are from my least favorite album of his, thus perhaps not the best showcase of what he was capable of, but ANY video is a treasure. I’m so happy that Midnight Special is posting all these old episodes for posterity.
@@stantonthezag1109 Seeing JS is a real treat! Thank you Midnight Special for posting this episode. Jimmie died young, (way) before the proliferation of video and streaming. Any video of Jimmie is precious.
I love both of those songs too, get goosebumps texting this ha! Great music does that to me, don’t even need to be hearing it . . . telepathic & fantastic
@@stantonthezag1109Feel the same way, seeing him perform live is a visual treat!
Wow. John Kay was impressive in this. I saw Steppenwolf live in Chicago in 1970 or 1971, but I'd never seen him play solo before I saw this video today.
At 42:55 I was mildly confused - at first. Then I started to chuckle. Then I started to laugh. Later came the howling. Epic.
😂 That was so funny!! His super sized fro was awesome too
Thanks so much! Great episode...
We agree. Thanks again for the support.
Wicked Pickett! 🔥
I wonder if my parents stayed up to watch the midnight special?.I was 6 years old in 73.Never got to watch the midnight special so it is beyond cool seeing it now.
Another stellar lineup! 🎶
Maurice and his famous dummy Donny(Robin goes mad) 4:31
That was so cute!!!🥰🥰🥰
Can't wait to enjoy the good old days❤❤ from Hong Kong.
this was an excellent episode with the bee gees and steve miller band standing out yet it is wilson pickett that pretty much took everyone to school.
Jane Getz playing piano with Jimmie Spheeris.
Jimmie Spheeris!
Wow, Wilson Pickett, what a performance at 40mins
Che musica fantastica e che cantanti, e che presentatori. Anche a presentare erano bravi i Beegees.Un grazie a che a posto questo video.
Wilson Pickett is so good!!!
Wilson Pickett, underappreciated, what a legend. Dude had not to blush in front of James Brown, he was a good. That Hey Jude version is even better than the Beatles'
The Gibb brothers (especially Barry😍) & Wilson brought it!🎶
Once more with feeling
Im so hyped up for this! 😊😊
5:08 donny takes my breath away with his grunts and the way he swings his arms 😍😍😍
A lull in their career, it would be another 2 years before the BGs hit it HUGE with Jive Talkin'.
it's amazing to see the white guitar that was to originally go to Jimmy Hendrix. Miller had a pair he bought from a guitar store that ordered them for Hendrix.

❤ I always watched The Midnight Special and enjoyed it very much.
