I always drag my driveway the day after it rains, less dust and the bigger stone comes to the top a lot better since the gravel is softer, you did a nice job
Your drive looks great and you did a good job with the box blade. We graded our drive about 15 years ago and removed all the soil from the stone. The drive looked great for a few years and then as the soil was pushed up the weeds started to return. If think it is ready to be graded again but that is a big job
Hi Eddie, my goodness you have an awesome way of explaining things...you make me want to buy a LAND PRIDE attachment. I do appreciate you "dressed" your driveway. I have a driveway that would benefit from a LAND PRIDE attachment job like you just did.
I've got a B2601 and a neighbor who said I could borrow his box blade, you've convinced me to borrow his box blade. I've got a lot of weeds growing up thru our gravel and I just mowed the weeds, so it's time to use the box blade! Thanks for the video.
@@MyClutteredGarage Done with the box blade, looks so much better! Took me a while to get the hang of it, then discovered that it was tilted to one side slightly. So leveled it up, scraped a few humps off and got it as level as I need for this year. I was going to have a load of gravel delivered this year but think I'll hold off until next year. Thanks again for your help!
I just recently got my first box blade and have been learning the ins and outs. Your driveway looks much better after you put some time in with the box blade. They are a handy implement to have in the arsenal.
Nice video Ed. A few suggestions. Wet the gravel down before working it. 2 reasons. It keeps the dust down and you will get a smoother finish. Also if you get potholes make sure your scarifers brake up the bottom of the potholes before filling them in. If you don't your fill gravel will just push out. My box scraper has pins for adjusting the depth no tools at all. Looks nice.
Totally agree Ed. Hate those ripper pins as well. Turned out pretty nice for sure. A good water filler roller would pack it nicely if you have access to one. Cheers and have a good week.
The box blade is actually pretty amazing when done properly. I’m with you on land prides clips. Sometimes keeping the price point down is ridiculous. Live and learn.
I just did my driveway with my boxblade...works amazing Be careful not to get dust/dirt in your tilt adjuster threads on your 3-point...use dry graphite. I learned the hard way and wrecked my threads and had to buy a new one Anyways, awesome as always Cheers
Great job Ed. I am going to have to do the same as grass and weeds have taken over my driveway too. Thank for the tips. My challenge is my drive is only 40 feet from garage skirt to street. I also hate those clips too. My plan is to buy some 5/8 inch steel square rod and bend my own L shaped bars to drop straight in the slots to replace the clips. Thanks for sharing. Dan 😊
Hi Ed! Well done and yes I think a top dress of stones may be needed, but check after a good rain. Cheers and yes I agree, the scarier pins are not my favourite.
I had that same scaper on my 2380 at our last house. Never did try dropping the rippers down...wish i would have. Looks like it works well. I dont think the rocks are going down, or that the soil is coming up but pretty sure after driving over them so many times the rocks are breaking down into "dirt"
Howdy Ed.. Driveway looks good.. You can always use a leaf blower after to blow the grass chunks to the side.. Just a thought.. Thanks for sharing another adventure with us. Cheers
I struggle with the same issues on our driveway! Right now it’s been so dry that even with the rippers down it doesn’t dig very deep. I guess a bit more experimentation with this on gravel is in order. My box blade is used for dirt work primarily. The dirt dog brand I have uses clevis pin/cotter pin design to raise/lower. I can understand why you were hesitant. Good results!
Another great vid, thanks Ed. I just had a 54" Land Pride box blade delivered and the tines have pins instead of those clips. I'm guessing you weren't the first to notice the design flaw and they've upgraded since.
If you had to do it all over and still use your exact tractor, what box/scraper with adjustable Scarefires would you purchase? (Used is OK, just which one would you purchase?).
I would go with a 60” land plane / land leveler over a box blade for driveway maintenance. Land Pride makes great quality, so I’d probably start there. Good luck!
if the driveway is ok i would think that vegetation killer would be a lot cheaper than all the wear and tear on equipment and fuel. just thinking is all. Thanks for bringing me along .
Didn't look like it took any more time to pull those clips than it takes to pull the retainer pins on most box blades. Keep a set of basic tools on the tractor for emergency field repairs and scarifier adjustments. 😅
Ed, if you want a solution to the clips, check out MJA doing stuff, he made a set of pins to replace the clips for his box blade, I copied his idea and it works great, no tools needed to adjust the rippers.
Good morning, I was just about to write a similar comment when I read yours. I also built MJA doing stuff pins. It makes life so much easier. I enjoyed the video Ed. Have a great week, Ben 👋😎👍🍻

Well, 15 years is a good run!
Very helpful video. Thanks for explaining that for me. I am gonna try it with my box blade. Hopefully it comes out as good as yours.
Just take your time and keep hitting it! The more you do the better it will look.
Congrats on 50k Ed. Was cool to see it happen real time on the live
Thank you! That was fun indeed!

You are so kind. Thank you!
Your driveway looks beautiful with all the flowers !!!!!
Thank you! They came up nicely!
@@MyClutteredGarage question: what seed company did you use this year for your flowers? AND do you recommend them?

Thank you. Good luck! Don’t be disappointed at first. You’ll have to go over it a lot more than I was able to show here. It will look great.

Thanks Mike. I’ll just have to count on driving over it. 👍

It’s a well made attachment. That’s just an odd design. Thank you!
The pricing of the 12 series BB isn’t worth the savings over the 15 series.
Thx

I find that a box blade in conjunction with a land plane is ideal. I saw your lamb enjoying the fresh grass clumps so it’s a win-win.
I agree! Thanks!

Looks like a million bucks, Ed!
Real nice Ed real nice 🐸hollow farm🇺🇸
Thanks Curt!
Remember to angle the blade, then level it as you go down the center.
Thanks!
After a good hard rain the dirt will sink in or wash away and you will see the stones again. At least that’s my experience doing what you’re doing.
That’s my hope. Thanks!

Dump all the material at once AKA the boxblade speed bump
