Up on stage there was the cream of the mainstream music scene of the times such as Bee Gees,Andy Gibb,Rod Stewart,Earth wind and Fire,Donna Summer,Olivia Newton John etc all joining ABBA symbolically singing their early hit 'He is your brother'.

They are such a versatile group with so much to explore. Songs like I`m a marionette, Hole in your soul, The Visitors, Eagle and The day before you came, not to mention the early stuff with some really interesting songs, like My mama said and So long.

ABBA is actually goat of pop to many persons in the world! I think you’ve got a lot to discover my friends. ABBA largest success was in Europe, Australia and Latinamerica.

One more comment to help you understand that historical event.
I am 65 years old, on that January 9, 1979 I was 21 years old,
and that event was broadcasted on television all over the world, and also in my country Argentina.
1979 had been declared the International Year of the Child,
and by idea of the Bee Gees and their manager this concert was organized for the benefit of UNICEF.
The venue was the United Nations building in Washington DC,
and a special album was released with the 10 songs performed.
(seen at the beginning of the video)
1979 was a year of explosion of disco music, especially in the United States
(the previous year had been the great success of the movie Saturday Night Fever,
with the soundtrack of the Bee Gees).
The concert featured a brief musical introduction of each artist,
starting with the Bee Gees singing a chorus of "Children of the world",
and then all the artists went on to perform.
    ABBA was the last one,
and their chorus of "He is your brother" was joined by all the participating artists.
(remember; Bee Gees, Andy Gibb, Olivia Newton John, John Denver, Rita Coolidge,
Kris Kristofferson, Donna Summer, Rod Stewart, Earth Wind & Fire).
At the end of each song,
one of the participating artists would come on stage with the scroll
where the artist who had just performed the song donated the rights to that song.
That's why at the end of the performance of "Chiquitita"
you see Donna Summer coming on stage,
and you see Agnetha signing on behalf of ABBA
(all the members of ABBA signed as well).
ABBA was the only non-English-speaking representative,
and they distinguished themselves by releasing a song
that did not respond to the mainstream of disco music.
"Chiquitita" had a colossal impact especially in Latin American countries,
so a few months later ABBA also recorded it in Spanish
and even today Chiquitita is a song of enormous popularity in the whole American Continent
(with the exception of the United States).
And about the iconic Swedish quartet ABBA
although their music is essentially Europop,
it has influences from all musical genres and from all cultures and nations,
    so they are absolutely versatile.
Their international fame begins when they won the classic
Eurovision Song Contest in UK 1974 with the fantastic "Waterloo".
They are the biggest non-English speaking and Continental European group
to have great international success, especially in the main English speaking countries.
Ten albums and Nine #1 singles in the UK, among their greatest achievements:
    Waterloo
    Mamma Mia
    Fernando
    Dancing Queen
    Knowing me knowing you
    The name of the game
    Take a chance on me
    The winner takes it all
    Super trouper
and after 35 years ABBA return to studio and released a new album Voyage (2021)
and open a new ABBA Arena in London with the new Voyage Concerts
with the asist of the four ABBA members to the premier in May 2022
the ages of ABBA members now:
    Agnetha (73)
    Benny (76)
    Frida (77)
    Björn (78 tomorrow, his birthday)

Great reaction. This Concert was in 1979. Held at the United Nations General Assembly. It was for World Children's year and proceeds went to Unicef. This songs Royalties were given 100%. To date it has raised almost $5 million.

50 % of the royalty money was donated from 1979 and at 2014 ABBA decided to donate 100 % of the royalties. Also Cher recorded a version in spanish in 2020 and also donated her royalties to UNICEF, just as ABBA.

Hello guys, so nice to see you for first time,
and with a reaction to ABBA songs
"Chiquitita" (1979) is a beautiful song,
it has hopeful lyrics, a melody that starts very soft with the blonde Agnetha's solo,
    then grows and explodes in a powerful chorus;
Agnetha with the brunette Anni Frida has vocal harmonies of excellence
It allows us to check how excellent singers
Agnetha & Frida are and what harmonies of excellence they achieve.
It stands out especially when stretch monosyllables with great powerful quality and beauty
"Chiquitita" was choosed for ABBA especially to the Concert for UNICEF,
it was premiered that night of January 9 (1979); and its royalties are eternal for UNICEF
"He is your brother" (1972) is the second single in ABBA history, and was performed live in Australia Tour 1977:
    ua-cam.com/video/ASCmKtwzli4/v-deo.html
In the intro with the chorus of
"He is your brother" could see:
    Andy Gibb, Olivia Newton John,
    Donna Summer, Rod Stewart,
    Rita Cooldrige, Kris Kristoferson,
John Denver, Earth Wind & Fire
and Bee Gees, that invited all these artist to join with a song to donated royalties for UNICEF
"Chiquitita" was ABBA's greatest success in Latin America,
that prompted ABBA to record it in Spanish, and its success was so extraordinary
that in the following year 1980 ABBA recorded an album "Gracias por la música"
with their best songs entirely in Spanish (something unreleased in group or band of global scale as ABBA)
these is the link of ABBA performing "Chiquitita" in spanish at Spain TV the same year 1979:
    ua-cam.com/video/cVrnj96zi_I/v-deo.html
"Chiquitita" is in my Top 7 of all ABBA songs, one of the '7 Wonders of ABBA'
and in my personal opinion this at United Nations
is one of their most important presentations for the context
(with "Waterloo" in Eurovision, and "Dancing Queen" to the Kings of Sweden)
    Thanks for these reaction
I hope to see more reactions to ABBA songs
    my best regards from
    Buenos Aires, Argentina
    South America
