- Here's another cut campaign mission for Halo 2 that was released by the Digsite crew! This one is a very basic squad test and probably the very first one used by Bungie to test Halo 2's new squad system.

Amazing how Halo had all these ideas. I just wonder how it would have worked with how the game is designed. From what I understand, Halo 2 has shotty programming and was barely able to work on its own. It's amazing how the community is not only improving, but keeping the spirit of Halo alive and well with mods, dig site, and player base
tbh I never really noticed much difference in the squad behaviour between H1 and the later games. Maybe I'm not that observant.
I've noticed two things:
1. Marines in Halo 2 will follow you through all/most areas. Whereas, Halo 1 marines often stop at invisible thresholds.
2. Marine behaviour in Halo 2 seems to vary a little between different marines. Whereas, in Halo 1, they all kind of act identical in terms of combat scripting.
@@--mr4yoThis. They had a little more mission personality.
@@--mr4yo from what I've seen of Halo 1 modding, you can expand how far marines will follow you through the level. It doesn't seem like it's a technical limitation so much as a design decision.
I suppose within the limitations of original xbox hardware, if Halo 2 is better at drawing large blobs of marines fast, uncapping what bits of the navmesh they can travel to allow for bigger deathblobs of guys absolutely could have been down to changing technical reasons.
also you can clearly see the difference in the I.A behavior with the covenant ranks, elite minors arent the exact same has elite ultras, different behavior.
@@--mr4yo As a modder of H2 ill try to explain:
1: You can actually have any ai follow you through an entire level if you really wanted too, the Ai follow the player based upon the position of the player to the AI squad's firing points in their "Zones" as they are called within those zones are lil squares you put down across the map that tell the AI where to go to fire at the enemy (firing point) those firing points can then be turned into new "Areas" so you can break up a map into little sections and the ai will follow the player through these "areas" as I said relevant to where the player is closest to w/e group of firing points of a certain "area".
2: The AI do act more as a cohesive unit rather than in H1 they all felt like independent units running around in a mob with just the basic knowledge of firing points to guide them where to go. In H2 the character tags have these more evolved .style tags that basically give a certain ai (marines, grunts, flood, etc) certain characteristics which allow them for example to coordinate with other friendly's to make ambush's, search an area as a team, flush out an enemy, or attack as a group rather than individuals.
2:15 WOOHOO 😃
Damn i love these vids
It's a shame we never got the option for AI battles like this until Infinite
I'm doing good General how are you?? 😅
0:10 Again, it is not a "campaign mission" it is LITERALLY A MAP USED TO TEST THE SQUAD SYSTEM! STOP CALLING THEM CUT MISSIONS WHEN THEY ARE NOT!
I gotta agree with this, just call it "Hidden AI Squad Battle Map" or something like that, like it's clearly not a "cut campaign mission". What's the mission? Film Red vs Blue?
@@chavzone Or "Concept/Mechanics Testing" maps.
Yeah people sadly love the words "cut, content, campaign, missions" and he always puts it for the damn fucking algorithm lol 😭
While I agree, if he wants his videos to get any visibility, he has to click bait. Blame UA-cam for incetivising this kind of thing. This type of thing might start dying down once UA-cam adds it's version of community notes like Twitter/X has.
@@soktherat777 He is referring to the as campaign missions in the videos themselves.
So bizarre seeing Covenant on Blood Gulch.
0:10 "Another cut campaign mission" 0:20 "It's not meant to be a campaign mission". gotta clickbait somehow ig
You load it up as a mission
@@The_Punisher So? That still doesn't address Heed calling it a cut campaign mission.
@@The_Punisher You load up mods like missions all the time that doesn't make them one
@@Colby_Burrow That Does Make Them One, It's Not One, But Technically It Is One
@@empireofitalypsstimfromano5025 No it isn't.
This is practically identical to the very first time modders got working campaign AI to work correctly in Multiplayer Maps, back in like 2005-2006. Are you sure this isn’t that?
Are there any testmaps for Arby?
Okay, I’ll bring my squad!🙂
why is it set on this map. Cause its fun
Ah Yes, Red Vs Blue Back When It Was Good
I'm Tired Of The People Complaining It's Clickbait And It's Not A Campaign Mission, So I'll Just Address Their Concerns With This.
Yeah No, Sorry To Be That Guy But The Thing Is That Technically Speaking It Is A Cut Campaign Mission, It's Not Really A Campaign Mission As It's A Test Wich Is The Reason It Was Cut In The First Place But It Is Technically A Campaign Mission.
Referring To It As A Test Mission Would Be More Correct But There Is No Such Thing As A Test Mission So This Is By All Means A Cut Campaign Mission.
Don't Get Mad Over This Sh*t.
Simple As.
🗿
it's played in the campaign format so you are right based purely on the merit of a technicality, however it doesn't change the fact it is misleading because its literally just a test and there is no story elements whatsoever
Why do you capitalise everything
Something something not a campaign mission clickbait title comment 🙄
