    This was an awesome talk Brian. You should put out a couple templates for peaking if it’s not too much to ask for. I think you can provide some major insight into handling a heavy enough load frequently enough to peak properly. I’ve always felt like I need more fatigue going into a meet, for some reason It just feels like I don’t have “my wheels underneath me” with inadequate amounts of training leading up to a meet. Curious what you think. Love your work as always brother.

    Hey Brian thanks for doing the video, I have a event coming up that has a stone to shoulder in it and I've never done it before. Would you be able to put together a video or tutorial about how to train for and proficiently do stone to shoulder?

    I had the same problem with our atlas stone over bar at my last competition, competed in u80kg division and they said our stone was going to be 150kg for reps. I was so stressed about this because I have never even lifted a 150kg stone from the ground. Turned out they changed the weight last minute to a 120kg atlas stone (which I couldn't get over the bar in previous competitions) and I managed to get 7 reps when the time ran out. During training I focused a lot on technique on a lighter stone, instead of trying to pick up the heavier stones and injuring myself before the meet.

    Hey Brian, I have a meet with a moving medley, and the heaviest keg is a little too heavy for me to hold rowed out of the way of my legs while running (yes I'm weak). Any tips for running with a heavy keg so that my legs won't be smashing into it?

    Brian, love the video! So I’ve been getting a little bit of tightness/pain in my hamstring twists the inside of my thigh when doing hyperextensions with a bar. Is my form the issue or maybe just week hamstrings? Thanks for any thoughts you might have, cheers!

      On a side note make sure you've got shoes with good grip. Climbing shoes work great, I've also heard combat boots are good.

      Buy a spud inc harness, a rope, find 2 vehicles and pull. If it is on black top then grippy skate shoes like vans work really well

    Do comps in your area give events tat far out in advance? The most we usually get down here are 6 weeks if you’re lucky.
    So GPP training, then SPP 6 weeks out? Or would you get more aggressive with the SPP?

    Have you ever heard of Jefferson and Zercher squats/deadlifts? Do you know anything about them and how they're different than the traditional lifts? Also, how could one implement them into a regular training routine for strength? Thanks, big fan I hope you do great in your upcoming comp!

    • @Dirtkid98505
      @Dirtkid98505 5 років тому

      Zercher is regularly used at Westside. Can be a max effort lift or used as an accessory/supplemental lift. I like them best for good mornings. Maybe for a comp there is axle deadlift and stone. sSay Max Effort lower was axle deadlift for an upcoming event, maybe paused front squats as a supplement then zercher goodmoring with stone width stance as an accessory for that day. Maybe next week do a max effort stone event resembling what would be in comp etc..

    I might be overthinking this but would be doing 2 deloads be really dumb? I know it's not what you suggested, and might be me trying to add too many different things together.
    What I mean is say you have 14 weeks until a comp. You run 9 weeks of darkhorse, then 1 week deload to mock meet, then 3 weeks event specific training and then 1 week further deload. Or would just running 10 weeks of darkhorse be a better plan before moving to event specific training?

    Hey Brian no disrespect at all but do you train naturally?

    • @MasterfulStu
      @MasterfulStu 5 років тому +3

      Hey Filemon no disrespect at all but why should he answer this question?
      Think back to his shoulder injury. If he wasn't genuine in his training and strength, then there would have been a noticeable atrophy effect while he was rehabbing. No doctor would let him use steroids so soon after surgery. Additionally, with his current health issues, do you really believe that he would be making use of steroids?
      Additionally, steroids allow for rapid recovery. In many of his videos he stresses how necessary recovery is, including this one. Would someone on steroids find this as important?
      Why do many people think all built individuals have artificial enhancements?
      He has been weight lifting, with the specific goal of be stronger, for many years. All those years add size to your muscular structure.
      On a personal note, saying 'no disrespect' doesn't change how disrespectful a question or statement is. So now, tell 150k subscribers why he should answer your question.

    • @anthony4664
      @anthony4664 5 років тому +1

      @@MasterfulStu He has every right to ask that question. At the same time, it's Brian's choice on whether or not he wants to answer him. I have never seen Brian claim natty nor has he admitted to steroids. So I respect him for not lying and claiming natty, but he has no obligation to talk about it if he doesn't want to. With that being said, I do think he is on something considering his size and how lean he is, his strength level, and the fact that he has a Maryland strength record. All of those things are very impressive. I'm not taking anything away from him, but it is almost impossible to do that without steroids. Regardless, he gives out great info and seems like a good guy. But that's just the opinion of a random guy on the internet.

    • @MasterfulStu
      @MasterfulStu 5 років тому

      @@anthony4664 I did take that a bit personally. But I can't stand the "random guy" opinion of "he's big, he must be on steroids." To someone who earns what he or she has, it's straight up defamation from those who lack the fortitude to do same or the confidence to accept themselves.

    You can't cram for a strongman competition. Your muscles don't have a brain they just call it muscle memory.
