Hello and welcome to my channel,
in this video I restore a clever kitchen aid from the 1920s. Did you know that they had this in the 1920s? The potato peeler was sold as a peeling wonder and had a German Reich patent. This designation is also stamped on the product.
I bought the peeler on ebay classifieds so that I have less work with my potatoes in the future. It had rust on all mechanics.
As always, I first disassembled the antique tool into all individual parts to start the restoration. Then I sandblasted all parts.
Since I broke off a cast iron part, I was able to visit my friend mister patina to weld with him.
After I smoothed out all the production defects with the file, I was able to continue with the restoration.
Some parts I hot burnished, others I nickel plated and polished afterwards. All painted parts I have of course repainted in the original colors. In RAL 5015 sky blue and RAL 9001 cream white.
After I had refurbished the wooden parts and made a new screw and spring, I was able to reassemble everything.
The wonder device passed the final test after I had completed the fine tuning.
Overall, a great mini kitchenaid with a simple but ingenious mechanics.
I hope you enjoy the video. Like, subscribe and share if you enjoy it.
And stay healthy

06:13 Since were drinking beer in my shop its totally okay to mention that I work naked most of the time. I can express myself even better without clothes.
BTW your filming and editing is just from another world. You increased your skills to a pretty high level, sir. Iam glad I could help.
Oh thank you! really appreciated feedback. Maybe I mention that you also have a new project

I'm 1 hour ahead but I think you catch up in minutes. Miss you!
This collab you did with Dr. Beer and yours with My Mechanics today made my weekend. Thanks guys. You all are the best.
HA HA HA HA HA
That I need to see!
@@Vickie-Bligh thanks! ❤️
Your work on this piece was very aPEELing!
Very nice. I love seeing old kitchen gadgets from the old century. They were so creative with these things. The restoration turned out beautifully.
Mr. Patina is right...about filming and editing...in everyday life who give sh*t about "potato peeling" now many of us will! :)
☺️☺️☺️ How nice of you. Thanks a lot my friend
Lovely restoration! It looks brand new! Also very nice to see Mr. Patina make a cameo - hope you are all keeping safe:)
Yes we are basically the only people we see each other so we are good. Thank you!!!
What an aPEELing restoration.
Okay you think fast!!!
...good one, nice resto, keep safe and have a great week
Thank you bob. As always a pleasure to hear from you
@@NTRprojects ...i like your great restos..
@@bobjoncas2814 I like you bob so we are even
@@NTRprojects ...LOL...
Beautiful Restoration!!! That is genuinely a useful kitchen tool!. I might have painted the letters black or blue, so as to stand out against the white, but thats just me
I did consider it, but this time I decided differently. But fair point
Another great restoration friend, look's superb to say the least, see you later smashed potatoe LOL, have a nice day & Stay Safe !!!.
Thank you Brian. Glad you liked it
That first test potato turned out great!😂
... that setting is for making 1 french fry per potato...
🤣🤣🤣
@@Zardox2 exactly😂
Right?! I like the idea with 1 fry out of one potato
I always like your videos before I even watch them lol. Love the content man.
Thank you very much
Man I love your blues and mints! They are such beautiful colors.
Welcome back!
Nice to seee your works again.
And... GREAT JOB!
Nice to see you watching my work again
Now THAT is a neat little piece of machinery. Great restoration. I always look forward to your videos. I really enjoy Mister Patina's as well.
Hey great to have you back here. Thank you and Mister Patina has a new video out too
I love the bright colors when all the parts were ready for assembly! I look forward to any restoration video from you!
You and me both!
You've done a great job mate. Love that shade of blue. Lol. 👍👍👍🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
Glad to hear that you liked it Cathy
Perfect ! , Video loud and clear .
Thank you Mina, glad you think so
So glad you used it
I had to share it with you. Would be unfair otherwise :D
You have turned a forsaken old peeler into something close to a work of art - almost too nice to use. I love the colour you chose 👍
Hey slider sorry for the late reply. I thank you for the very kind words!!!
You do excellent work.
No potatoes were harmed in the making of this film.
Well that’s disappointing….
Those potatoe peelings, if washed prior, are wonderful when fried or used as hash brown. Excellent restoration!
Hey Chuck. I will try this . Thanks for the tip
I love how you make it “better” than original. Attention to detail.
Wonderful job. Glad to see Mr. Patina mentioned
He is a nice dude and a good friend indeed
@@NTRprojects 🤣🤣🤣👍🏻
Love the bolt action release of the spring! Potato cannon but different 😅
Excellent work! Those poor tools fall into disuse too often. It's great to see one brought back to new condition. I was hoping you would repaint it blue!
I’ve have viewed many videos on UA-cam but that has to be one of the best, well done Dr Beer 🍺
Wow, thanks! I'm grateful for this feedback
So satisfying to watch you work. I thoroughly enjoyed this video.
glad you took your time
When the casting part broke, I would have thought of great new curses. You handled it well. Nickel plating the parts that come in contact with the food is a good idea.
Greetings Tino
Cool project 👍 and beautiful result, like it 👍
Many thanks fellow
An absurdly over-complicated solution to a simple problem: peeling a potato. In other words: I love it! It's also a beautiful piece of machinery, that I'd love to have in my own kitchen. We do have a modern version of that peeler, and while it's fun, it really does gouge out the apple/potato. Still: fun!
Google "starters apple peeler". This technology was already almost 75 years old when it was made. The first mass produced consumer mechanical goods were kitchen tools like these. Unless you count cauldron swivels and clod cutters for shoes. That was the 1600s in the uk.
"starrett apple peeler" sorry
Nice info. And I totally agree I love the mechanics of this peeler
Museum quality restoration!
This is really kind of you. Glad you think so
I hope Aurora got some beer. 🍺🍺🍺
😋😋😋
An Old School AppleMaster!!
It sure is OldSchool but I love the mechanics of it
I never see a so hungry tool !!!
I think you loose 1/3 of the potato that you peel using this item
Too funny !
But you have done here a wonderful job .
You are right, but after adjustment it worked better for the last potatoes, but I also wanted to show you the first one
That is a very handy piece of equipment. Looks so great now.
Superb job..👍🏻
A work of art!
Thank you Sebastien. really appreciated feedback
Pretty and curious artifact. Good job.
Thank you dalmiro
Not terrible at all. Beautiful actually 👌
Great to have you back Olo
Lovely job on an unusual piece
Thank you Ian. it sure is a rare piece
Great result and when it ate the first potato that was a genuine laugh out loud moment!
Yeah I had a laugh too in the workshop :D
Very nice work. Watch out Mr Patina!😉🧡
He is keeping me close so he has an eye on me
It came out amazing 👍🏻
Thank you Suzanne
Looks stunning
Thank you Jeff. Glad you like it
This is a masterpiece of a very old kitchen gadget. It has been meticulously restored with much precision and sympathy. So glad you are able to preserve these items for others to enjoy. It does make one wonder though at the hardiness of these old utensils compared to today’s plastics!😊
Brilliant job! I thought to myself, he's not going to test it, he's not gonna test it....then right at the end he tests it and I rest in peace. Top job Mr beer.
They had peelers like this in the Victorian era too
We have my great great grandmothers apple pealer
Hey Chloe thats so awesome. i wonder how many apples it might have peeled already
Cleaned up real good! :)
Yeapp just cleaned and thats it :D
Awesome work bro! Cheers from Poland :)
Thank you my frind and best regards back to poland
Ausgezeichnet !
I want one of those now ! 😏
Yeah I look forward o use it on a big amount of potatos
Well done! I enjoyed this video! Sehr ausgezeichnet!
Hey Mark glad you liked it. Besten Dank
If the company who made that peeler had machined it as finely as you did, no one could have afforded it. Great restoration.
Such a nifty device!
Glad you got hold of it, and restored it with your amazing skills.
It was a treat to watch; your editing indeed is from another world; the restoration result is - as always - impeccable!
Wow, thank you my friend!
great restoration. love the color. ⛏️🔨🔧🛠️⚒️🪛👍
Very nicely done. I would hate to get it dirty again. Sehr schön geworden. Man möchte es fast nicht mehr einsauen. 👍🏼
Beautyfull, excelent job
Thank you Andres
Very cool object well done.
Thanks fellow ;)
This device was available in the age of mechanical wonders, it's a shame to think those days are almost gone. A gold dry brush on the lettering may have enhanced the overall look, but your choice always. Thanks for sharing. 🇨🇱😁😁👍
Yes I was considering it and I have the paint in the workshop, but I was not sure enough to actually do it
Nicely done
Thank you Darth
Excelent... beer + job
Thank you Ariel. Glad you liked it both
Undeniably Beautiful! Love potato peelers now 😊
Wie gewohnt,besser als Fabrikneu.
Besten Dank freue mich sehr über deinen Kommentar Multi
Splendid work, and that blue is simply amazing!
Thank you so much taytase😀
Great job👍
Thank you!
Yes. We used this every autumn day for apples and potatoes.
I see a veranda and some sunshine in this story
@@NTRprojects We also dried the apple skins for treats.
Fantastic!
Thank you Pia
First I click the "like" button, then I watch your videos. Also, your editing keeps getting better and better. Such bright lights and saturated colours could easily be too much, but you manage the right amounts and it looks great; great macros as well, and I love your detailed and clear explanations. Cheers!
Nice! I'm really happy about this feedbac my friend!
Excellent job!
A truly beautiful restoration. Thanks.
Thank you too!
Flawless!
Hey Heather. Great to see you again. Thank you very much! Have a great day
This is wonderful.
I can only say something about the letters but it's your choice.
(And even if it was a doll, I liked the cat.)
So a doll would be sufficient :) mhhh. but its mister P's cat...
@@NTRprojects
Not "sufficient" but "better than nothing" 😄
@@svipace8220 okay I understand. Maybe a poster? My girlfriend is allergic to cat hair
@@NTRprojects so sorry to hear that.
Do you have an option to get a new girlfriend who is not allergic to cats? 😄😄😄
@@svipace8220 but what about the kitchenaid I gave her? 😂😂 No I love her too much.
Beautiful!
Brilliant thanks.
Excellent restoration
Thank you DB! Cheers!
Those potato peelings are just crying out for frying!
I agree Simon
this was amazing!
Glad you think so
Beautiful restoration. Decades ago we had a similar peeler designed for apples but ours was designed in the 1960s. This was fun and very well done.
Hey Vickie I think you can still buy similar products and i heard from viewers that they own peelers from the 1800s. So it seems to never go out of style :D
Beautiful restoration of something useful. Great job!!
Thanks a lot dawn
Great job. Looks better than it probably did when new. Just found your video thanks to Mister Patina and I'm glad I did.
Welcome to the channel. And thanks for watching.
Looks very good
Wow love it. Fantastic work
Thank you so much 😀 Pleasure as always
I dare to say that restoration has gone to another level. Your works are PIECES OF ART!!! Truly great👏👏👏
Great video as always. One small note, the tool used for cutting the external threads on the new screw is a die. Tap is for internal or female threads, die is for external or male threads. Anyway, great job, can't wait for the next one.
I hope I memorize this. Really big thank you for the input. I learned something new
Love it! The paint job is flawles
Thank you SJXLS! Cheers!
Beautiful, awesome job!
Thank you very much Joe
what a beautiful tool! wonderful work, doctor!
Most of thanks double slime
Amazing!
It came out looking so great! Thanks for sharing the work you put in. It was very soothing to watch.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Sehr gut!!
Besten Dank Nadia
Good job!
Love this restoration it must be a keeper love the colour and I'd definitely would use it stunning
Absolutely Gaynor. i will use it whenever I need to peel a bigger amount of potatoes
This should have been filmed with the world famous potatoe-camera! 🥔🎥 😉
I googled potato-camera and now I'm confused. Thank you Ralf 😜
Hello my brother Beer, every job you do I see great improvement in your skills, keep it up your my Favorite channel. Just a reminder to watch for a good canadian craft beer to test.
Okay Robert but which one of them is available in Europe? I need your input here 😊 thank you watching
That is beautiful! You have such amazing workmanship.
Thank you very much!
