Hi. I’m new to your channel…You have probably already had many responses to this but the thing I do for blocking, is after I squeeze out water I then get two towels. I roll up the object and stand on it to get the excess water out. But then I take a second towel and do it again. What a difference it makes. Mine will take days as well but when I do the extra towel I’m good in about a day. It may be slightly damp, and I mean just a bit cool to the touch in a spot or two and I will lay it over a chair or put it down on the floor in from of my fireplace. It works great.
I said the same thing with the sophie scarf 😅 “that’s cute but I’m not a small scarf kinda girl so I’ll pass “ but ended up knitting it anyway and I’m now on my second scarf 😆
Would highly recommend the Anker Summer Shirt!! I made it this summer and it went by sooooo quickly - I can imagine much quicker than fingering weight. The drape is lovely in a 100% cotton yarn too!
I'm literally in a group chat talking about finding recommendations for a weighted blanket - as soon as you mentioned a crochet one I knew that is something I NEED to make! Thank you!
when you pulled out your second sophie scarf I was like hallelujah I'm not the only one making multiples haha I'm at 3 right now 😂 also the rust and red colors are totally colors I would knit together haha I just love weird combinations 😆 and omg I feel the same way about the Ingrid sweater!! I'm like that seems like it's out of my skill level, so I wanna try it 😂
When I knit sweater no 9 the uneven purl stitches were also bothering me 😂😂 I found wrapping the yarn the other way ‘clockwise’ made them wayyy more even and neat. Just in the next row you have to purl through the back look so it’s not twisted
I feel you on needing to write down what on earth project I got all this yarn for. It's so weird, because I hadn't been the sort of person who bought yarn for a specific project to begin with. That changed when I started knitting garments rather than crocheting blankets.
For Sweater No9! Just knit the stitch that is causing the hole throught the back loop, that takes care of the extra yarn and no more holes! I did that with the 2 sweaters no9 I have knitted and they look perfect!
That is exactly what I ended up doing and still struggled sooo much! It's the best the yoke has looked so far but I'm still not 100% satisfied with it 😑 I think it's just because I'm a new knitter and need more experience with tension and stuff!
I just finished the ithelien vest by fabel knits i used the wandering flock neon green fingering and mohair. It’s such a pretty yarn and I was so paranoid I wouldn’t have enough I followed the pattern which knowing fabel patterns they are cropped. It feels cropped on me even though I’m short torso just because the ribbing starts right under my chest . So that whole thing you mentioned about adding length I totally relate. Love the ice cream social yarn you got. I missed that one but did purchase two color from the Ireland collection.
I missed the second Ireland launch, but that’s okay because I had already invested a small fortune in the Sewrella Yarn Autumn in New York collection LOL. Omg that vest sounds beautiful. I’m sure it still looks good even if it’s cropped-unfortunately I just don’t reach for those items as often. I’m sure with experience I will learn how I like my hand knit items to fit more!
hi, nice work u do. I am working at the moment on sandnes garn guernsey sweater in pink, left just a bit to do, and then time to block it. Recomend the Pattern, ez to fallow and goes fast
I’m knitting an Ingrid sweater right now and i think it’s totally doable for you! It’s not as advanced as it looks, the cables in it are faux cables so it’s mostly all just different knit and purl stitch combos.
Thanks for sharing! I think it just seems like...a big commitment, LOL. But I've heard it's addicting in the same way as the Sophie scarf, you just keep wanting to get to the next section! Hopefully I'll be ready in January or something to cast one on!
Thank you so much! I feel the same about yours! And the other bonus of the Sophie scarf is that it made me appreciate garter stitch for the first time, lol
I should start considering my dog a weighted blanket. He weighs more than me and takes up half the bed😂. BTW, I’m having the same experience with a cotton blend yarn. I don’t know the bar and…I got it in a bag of yarns from a friend.
YES! when you said the part about wanting to knit the Ingrid because it will be a challenge.... that is exactly why I havent pulled the trigger on the pattern yet. Girl, we need to have better self confidence LOL! We can do it. I'll do it if you do it! No pressure :)
Hahaha I'm on a total PetiteKnit roll right now, I've finished an Ingrid Sweater for myself and I might knit one more for my husband! It's so much fun, and I think it would be doable for you! It would look amazing in the grey...I'm knitting on an Ankers Summer Shirt for my mum, and also not enjoying it a lot. It's a very slippery viscose yarn :( looking forward to woolly fall knits. As to the Cotton Merino, for some reasons I haven't found a good yarn in that combination. I tried a few but to me it seems they combine the downsides of the two fibers rather than the advantages. Greetings from Germany!
OMG you nailed it-for some reason it literally combines the downsides of both cotton and merino. I hope you can wrap up your viscose Anker Summer Tee asap! Chunky autumn sweaters here we come!
I am finishing up another lap blanket for our local hospice house today. I am ready to cast on a new sweater, but I have 4 socks on my needles and I need to finish those first. Then my focus will shift to my new sweater and finishing a scrappy C2C blanket for my son. Bring on the cooler weather!!
Aw, I love that you are a philanthropic knitter! That is definitely on my project list someday--I know there are a few charities in my area that look for hand-knit hats. OMG I'm so excited about your fall queue! So satisfying to finish up all those socks and reward yourself with a new cast-on
@@truelaneknits The urge to cast on is strong, but I will resist! “The First Sweater” will be in Holst supersoft and Drops mohair, and I have leftover yarn from another sweater that will become a “Ranunculus.”
Thank you so much! It will truly take you a day or two and is so much fun to knit up--perfect for literally whatever yarn you can find! Let me know if you do!
Thanks for a lovely episode! You made me interested in Sophies scarf, looks chic! I am knitting it now, for me, my daughters with a hat for Christmas gift! I wasn't, as you, interested when I saw it first. See what a presentation does 😀 Greetings from Gotland, Sweden
I always put a fan on my blocked items. Speeds up the drying process. Also I use really thick towels to get most of moisture out of the item. Love your podcast and all your projects!
Ooh, smart idea! I have my fan out for the summer months anyway so I'll have to run it pointed at my hipster hat. Thank you so much for the kind words!
Yay! Thank you so much! 👏 I do think the humidity makes things dry way slower here. I can't wait to see some of this new yarn knit up! 🤩
I can't wait to see what you make with the Black Sheep Knitworks yarn!

You are the first to make this suggestion-I am absolutely going to try the second towel! Thanks!
I said the same thing with the sophie scarf 😅 “that’s cute but I’m not a small scarf kinda girl so I’ll pass “ but ended up knitting it anyway and I’m now on my second scarf 😆
It's becoming a common theme 😂 you never know until you try something!
Would highly recommend the Anker Summer Shirt!! I made it this summer and it went by sooooo quickly - I can imagine much quicker than fingering weight. The drape is lovely in a 100% cotton yarn too!
So glad you mentioned the Sophie scarves being addictive, I’m on my 3rd one!❤

the Sophie scarf is just the most perfect combo of satisfying and fast! I can't wait to see what projects you have planned for your upcoming trip!
Oh my gosh! How did you knitted this pink blanket? How long you do this? It’s so big but so beautiful 😻

OMG lol. It's all in how you look at things. Ugh, so sorry about your cotton yarn! It might just not be the fiber for us...🙈

LOL no I am SURE we can do it! First project of 2023?!
@@truelaneknits Im in!! That gives us time to get more yarn!
September 16th is my birthday, too! Fall birthdays are the best. So excited, too, for fall/winter knitting.
No way! Birthday twins! Did you know it is one of the most common birthdays in the U.S. (in addition to September 9 I think)?

Do you roll your FOs up in a towel and step on them to squeeze out the water when you have finished soaking them?
I do! I think I need to try setting a fan on them next

Wonderful!!! They will be beautiful! I didn’t appreciate garter stitch much until I knit it, hehe. Thank you for the kind words!
I just blocked my Wednesday sweater. Eager for it to be dry! I love your pink blanket !
Ahhh exciting! I bet it looks great! Thank you-the blanket will definitely keep me warm this winter
I casted on a Sophie Scarf while watching. 🤩
OMG I love this for you. Hehehe. What kind of yarn did you choose?!
@@truelaneknits I am being adventurous and using a worsted weight mini skein. The yarn I am using is Ambient Worsted by Vidalana.
Is it possible to crochet a Sofie scarf? I couldn’t find any tutorials on how to crochet it… everyone knits them 😢
It’s designed as a knit pattern, so I’m not sure how you would crochet one!
