My tip to remember M1L and M1R is to look at the orientation of my right needle when knitting. For M1L your needle points towards the left so it’s going through the back loop. For M1R it’s pointing towards the right so it’s a regular knit stitch. Remembering to pick up the strand from the back or the front always made me confused, so instead I focus on the orientation of my needle and I just know that the side I’m knitting needs to be the shorter/tighter side and I pick up the strand accordingly (for example, for M1L I’m knitting through the back loop - pointing left - and therefore I need to pick up the stitch from the front in order for it to be short and tight in the back). I don’t know if this sounds any easier but it has been working wonders for me! :-)
Omg you crack me up. So you’re porch sweater the two yarns are beautiful together do not rip it out it’s beautiful against your skin. I loved everything you’ve knitted. The top you were wearing is so flattering on you. The give away yarn is absolutely gorgeous. I would love to knit a pair of socks with you. Thanks for the podcasts recommendations except I watched so many that I don’t have time to watch any of my shows I have recorded. I will have to check them out.
It's so funny that you're talking about puff sleeves, because I just finished Anne of Green Gables on audio book, and all Anne wanted was puff sleeves. They're definitely the sleeves of Anne's dreams. 🥕
I totally thought of her while I was knitting it! ☺
I learned to knit socks last fall and so far I knitted 4 pair. I love that I learn new things with every new pair of socks. I really like the giveaway entry yarn.
Thanks for recommending other knitting podcasts. I know Marlene's channel and I'd love to explore the others.
Hi Chelsea! I remember M1R by the front part of the stitch pointing right, and M1L the front part slants left. Andrea Mowry points this out.
The “giveaway entry” yarn is beautiful.
I really like your podcast. Your voice is calming and I like your projects.
Another podcast I like is NJ knits. She is in London and is quirky and endearing (to me).
Those sweaters are gorgeous, especially the olive-colored one you are wearing. Also, the yarn for the giveaway entry is lovely.
Thank you Chelsea, always nice to watch you. Hope your knitting is going well now. I’m knitting a lento too. Love the one you are wearing. The green moss color is lovely! Your V-neck is awesome, definitely need one in my wardrobe. I like to knit socks, so love to do a entry giveaway, how great it would be to have (nearly) matching socks 😊
Oooooh a giveaway! Thanks Chelsea, I always knit along with your podcasts and it feels like we’re knitting and chatting together 😂☺️
I love that so much!!!
The yarn you have for the giveaway entry is stunning! I’m also really into neutrals with colorful speckles ❤
Your Rubus Blouse looks SO good no you! the sleeves are not too puffy, I think they are perfect! I made Casia Tee V-neck by the same designed and I LOVE it! I think I want a Rubus too and I might make one in a summer yarn though because mohair and short sleeves are not a good idea in the climate I live in. and yeah, I think this turned into a “giveaway entry” :))
Giveaway!. Enjoying all your knits, colors, and patterns. Glad to have found you.
The green looks great in general and even greater on you! I think it vibes perfectly with your skin tone, hair color and your eyes! I say, go for it and knit it up! ;-)
That port sweater is such a beautiful golden green. It looks great on you!
Thank you! It's definitely golden! I think after pulling it out of hibernation I'm back in love with it again 😁
As for resolving the German Short-rows: it is very important to knit through both legs of the stitch and not just into the one strand. It makes more sense when you watch a video. You may be already doing this right, but it came to my mind that this is the cause for the hole in most cases. If you pull tightly while creating the double-stitch that also helps to prepare it for the resolving later.
Loved seeing all your sweaters!! Woopwoop for January knitting motivation 😊 Would totally knit matching socks with the giveaway yarn with you!
Chelsea, for my m1L and m1R, I say to myself “I’ll be RIGHT BACK, and “I LEFT the FRONT door open”. Then if I pick up the bar from the front, I know I knit into the back, and if I pick up the bar from the back I know I need to knit into the front. Actually first heard it from Steven West! Love your podcasts and your sense of humor! 💕 Please enter me in the giveaway!
Thank you Madlyn! Yes, I need to adopt a more fully fleshed-out mnemonic device for my M1s 🙈 I wanted a shorter one but there’s a reason why yours works better 🤣
Always enjoy your project/yarn selection. Beautiful finished projects. I want to check out the Harlow sweater you said you were interested in knitting. I love a V-neck! Looking forward to your next podcast.(giveaway entry)
Such a generous giveaway! I love the idea of matching socks 😊
.. also, the swampy green is not too swampy at all, looks good 👍
Great vlog good company for an hour while I'm knitting and the moss green is lovely and suits you ⭐🥶😁
Ah I’m knitting a lento too! I feel you on the provisional cast on 😅 I read that in the pattern and was like … nope, I will long tail cast on and sew the collar down later.
I'm obsessed and have a few 'run-to' knitting podcasters too. I'm gonna check out all of yours because you can never have enough knitting videos to wa
tch. I'm an English teacher so will turn to those who love words first. And wouold love to stitch a matching pair of socks with your for the giveaway entry.
I hope you enjoy their channels! ❤
I am so impressed how quick you learned to knit so good and all these things look so beautiful! 😍
I'm gonna follow your channel for further inspiration! +
Giveaway entry! ☺️
I like the green and think it looks nice with your hair tone! ⭐️
The mossy green one @ 54m - can confirm, it suits you really well! Good choice :)
You inspired my most recent sock wip. I love the yarn for the giveaway entry!
Loooove your most recent FOs - this is my giveaway entry :)
I agree, the whole "back panel, pick up shoulder stitches, connect in the round" sweater construction is SO confusing... my brain just can't comprehend🤯😂 +giveaway entry
After I did it once it really helped, but every sweater is a little different so sometimes...it feels like the first time all over again. LOL!
Thank you for the encouragement to try lace knitting! Your Date Night Sweater is gorgeous and I am now so inspired to try lace knitting. I am putting the Date Night Sweater on my list! (I just started really knitting in September and I am learning so much from your podcast; I really appreciate all you share about your thought process, modifications, yarns used, etc.) This is also my giveaway entry. 🙂
Thank you so much for sharing this Corinne! I hope you make the Date Night sweater and enjoy it as much as I did 😍 An Aran-weight yarn is a great way to learn the lace technique. And the Date Night is the perfect pattern for all the reasons I said in the video. 😆 happy knitting!
Love the speckles yarns and I love it ! Giveaway entry sounds excited 😊
Chelsea, thanks so much for mentioning me! Your podcast is one of the ones (if not, THE) podcast that I run to when I see another upload and that has inspired me to start my own
Hannah you are the best!!! Adding the Sorbet Sweater to my list now!
Thanks for sharing your fibre crafting. I’ve so enjoyed your yarn choices too. Thanks for working to sort out the yarn giveaway. giveaway entry
Your new sweaters are fabulous! Enjoyed the video and got a nice chunk of another No Frills done while watching 😁 Love the sock yarn so "giveaway entry"!
love your podcast !!! I love your style and always get inspired by your projects! You should keep going with the port sweater it's a great color ! Have a lovely day !
Thank you so much!
Port sweater in that green beautiful - but then my favourite colour also green - any green !
I LOVE the mossy green, please keep going!
Love the sock yarn for your Giveaway Entry! ❤
I’m loving your channel. I would keep the green yarn and mohair together, it looks so cozy. I would love to win your giveaway! Thanks for sharing your beautiful knits.
I would totally knit socks with the giveaway entry yarn. Love the colour way ❤
Love to get the giveaway thanks!! Enjoy watching all that you've knitted wtg!!! Even if I don't win thanks for sharing!!!
Love the green with Mohair!! Love watching your videos. Thanks for posting! ( giveaway entry )
I started knitting not too long ago with cheap yarn I could find around me. Your videos really inspire me to knit with beautiful soft yarn, your knits look so comfy! So I would love to knit a beautiful pair of socks in this bigfoot yarn. Here is my giveaway entry.
Keep entertain us with your soft dreamy knits, it's very relaxing to watch your podcast :)
I’m so glad you talked about Favorite Knitwear V neck. I’ve had on my list- just looking for the perfect yarn. Then I’ve been having second thoughts even though I still want a v neck ( never knitted before). Caidree has been recently on my radar and so will definitely look into her pattern. Maybe even the Dartmoor sweater when it comes out. For next fall.
Also that mossy, scummy green? A dream on you. Go for it!
Thank you for the feedback! Maybe a color of Shelter will stand out to you for the Sweater No. 14 😊 the v-neck was super simple to do and I’ll happily do another one!
Loooooooove the yarn for the Giveaway entry 🎉
So nice garments each time, I want to knit everyday now so much project I want to do 😊
Always enjoy your videos and that you are from the PNW! I’m in Lake Stevens. And the GIVEAWAY yarn looks delightful and definitely needs to be a pair of socks! Thanks for creating content!
West coast best coast!!!
You can TOTALLY replace the bobbles with just a knit stitch! Loved seeing everything you work on, and thanks for the podcast recommendations!
Good to know, thank you!
Omg the cream lace sweater yeeessss 😍 my way of remembering M1L and M1R is ‘Left the Front door open’ (so I put my needle through the front of the loop) and ‘ be Right Back’ (so I put my needle through the back of the loop) lol also I feel like that green might lean swampy but maybe not in a bad way??? When you held it up to yourself I do think it would look good on you!
My color palette is like exactly the same as yours lol every single yarn (especially speckled) that you hold up I’m like yep it’s perfect again lol so I guess this is my giveaway entry because of course. . .that yarn is perfect
Also omg thank you for the love 😭❤️ cotton and linen is my current obsession lol
Lovely speckled yarn…great giveaway prize, would make a shawl
The giveaway entry yarn is so beautiful! And matching socks would be so fun 😊
That blouse is stunning! Looks so nice on you too!
Oh gosh I had to laugh out loud when you where talking about the girl who started following recently and became the biggest fan of ! I watched your video about all you knit in 2022, and since then, I've watched ALL of your podcasts, been working on my first sweater (the Novice Sweater, in Drops Air, because you did it and it convinced me), been scrolling on Olivia&Oliver fibers in order to, when I'll be confident enough with my knitting skills, buy a sweater quantity of the eggnog color... And probably will knit the Wednesday sweater because yours looks so good !
Basically, you convinced me that I will improve my skills, and that one can make oneself beautiful things. I was so happy you posted a new podcast episode.
Well, I am gonna stop here and hope I won't sound too creepy (if it is not already the case...) when I add that I would love to enter the giveaway (GIVEAWAY ENTRY) to knit matching socks with this beautiful yarn you picked with your lovely tastes.
Thanks a lot, you will definitely be one person responsible for my knitting career ! X
OMG, Aurore! Thank you so much for all your kind words, you are so encouraging! I am so excited you're knitting your first sweater!!! Those are all such great goals to have, and that's why I share my knitting journey--if following my trajectory helps someone else enjoy the craft, then I'm happy! ☺ can't wait to be sweater twins!
Here is my giveaway entry! I just bought my first hand-dyed skeins today, very much inspired by your pods so thank you for the inspiration!
Hi Chelsea, I enjoyed hearing about the lento and dads sweater, I think I will just keep knitting patterns I already have purchased, I think I will keep knitting petite knits as I am new to garments and have made two buy her, and it was like magic! I would love to knit matching socks with your giveaway yarn! Take care, Melissa..
Thank you so much! I'm a new knitter and I am getting so much inspo from you and your excitements, thought processes, and design choices
Thank you so much Aimi! OMG, my Ravelry queue got out of hand when I first started knitting 😅 in time it'll sort itself out and you'll discover what you gravitate toward and truly enjoy knitting! Have so much fun! 🤩
Hi Chelsea! I love when your videos pop up! Your energy totally meshes with my own (and I’m a writer too). Looking forward to checking out the podcasts you recommended. ❤ Thank you for the giveaway entry as well…love that sock yarn! 😊
Oh, thanks so much! I'll have to check out your videos. I appreciate the kind words!
Giveaway entry - love what you’ve been knitting! And appreciate your relaxed attitude about ripping out. I regularly frog entire finished sweaters to reuse the yarn if I don’t wear them, and I genuinely think cultivating acceptance re: knitting that doesn’t work has helped me cultivate the same attitude in the rest of my life!
So happy to have found your podcast. I love your yarn choice from big foot yarn co. So pretty-Giveaway entry.
I really like the look of the split hem starting in the middle of the ribbing, I'm copying this technique for all my split hems going forward. The mossy green for the port sweater really compliments your eyes and complexion, but if you're not in love with it don't knit it.
Thank you! I think I need to knit up more of it before I make a decision so just putting it on hold until I'm ready to work with green again!
Green, green, green - we are of like mind. Great podcast!
And more green. 💚😆
Enjoying your podcast as usual, thank you so much! Please count this as a giveaway entry, would love to try my first hand dyed pair of socks :)
Loving the giveaway entry yarn. So fun to have a cheerful sunny color in the gray PNW. Left through the front door, ran out the back.
Just because you´ve asked😁: The green suits you so well! It is beautiful! I mean I have a soft spot for swampy greens anyway. It is beautiful because it has a lot of gold.✨ Giveaway entry
Giveaway entry !! I LOVE speckled yarn so I truly don’t blame you!!!
I love watching your podcast! I think that green would look really nice when it's all done for your Port Sweater but ultimately, you've gotta love it. Also here for the matching sock party! Giveaway entry !
Thank you for the kind words!
You are so calming - I was working on finishing my last sleeve and blocking my Jacques Sweater!☺️ I personally lean away from the dark green mohair with your green ochre colourway together but that could be just me!
Thank you so much for sharing! I just looked up the Jacques Sweater and OMG, what a perfect Frenchie vibe, that will be so cute!
Very pretty! Love it
I must make a Lento now that I’ve seen yours! I might even have 2 skeins of yarn. The mohair is a different story, but I think I can find /buy some for the project! Thank you for sharing. (Giveaway entry). I also am embracing the rip out and fix it method! I do love knitting, so I just get to do more……😅 It’s so gratifying when my garment fits the way I like it to! I don’t know if I could give my sweater up for a store sample though…..🥰
I hope you find some good stash yarn for a Lento!!
The yarn for the giveaway entry is really beautiful.
Giveaway!!
Also - I really like the green color for the Port sweater. I knitted Ozetta’s Towns sweater and I really liked her pattern instructions. I’ll be interested to see what you decide to do!
My January knitting was a mess but feeling better as Febtis wrapping up. You have such beautiful tastes in patterns and yarn - I’m still framing of making a festival sweater after seeing yours! Thanks for sharing 💛 (giveaway entry 🎉)
My tip for remembering make 1 left and right is this mantra “I left it on the front porch so I’ll be right back!” You go in the front of the bar below for M1L and the back for M1R! Need all the help I can get! Love your podcast.
Love seeing what’s on your needles! Giveaway entry
Love the yarn for the giveaway. This is my giveaway entry :). Currently knitting on all sorts of swatches be because I’m on my way back from a trip and all I have left to knit are leftover yarn bits. So I’m just combining different ones to see if I like the fabric they give.
The yarn for the giveaway is so beautiful! I’ve been itching to start some socks but I’m in a no but right now. ❤
(giveaway entry)
love your content and the color combo for your lento sweater is so cute!!! i absolutely love the green and pink mixed in!! also, for the green combo for the port sweater, i think it’s a bit too swampy and not as mossy, so personally i would use the yarn for something else and start your port sweater in a color that you’d be certain of!! happy knitting 💖
I've been replacing bobbles with beads lately, so idk if you'd want that for your next Date Night sweater. But also,, you. can totally just do knit stitch instead. Love your makes!
(Giveaway entry)
I love the swampy green!
thank you so much for your podcast, i just establish which one i use first and remember which of the two i did the back loop and always do the same thing for every paired increase. may help to write it down then you should be fine. my understanding is that the most important thing is to be consistent. :) . i would love to have matching socks to yours, this is my giveaway entry!
I always look forward to your podcasts. Your style and vibe are just perfect. Thank you for the lovely content you provide! 🖤🖤🖤Giveaway entry 🖤🖤🖤
I think you have a very good sense of what suits you and what does not. I like your choice of colors for your projects. The colors are exactly yours! As for the puffy sleeves, I think they also look better when they are a little smaller. If you know the Kibbe Bodyimage system, I bet you are Soft Classic. That means those more body-hugging, symmetrical cuts look good on you. Nothing too voluminous, not necessarily too straight cuts. A few feminine details are great! And that's exactly what the sweater with the lace reflects. SO beautiful! We have very similar colors (hair, eyes, skin). I also bought this beautiful Concept by Katia in Cotton Merino Col. 137. It just looks so excellent on you, that let me be influenced.
😇
OMG I hope you love the Cotton Merino! It’s such a great color ❤
Loved the whole project picking story 🤣 I totally relate!
// giveaway entry
I love watching your podcasts, and your FOs are amazing:) (Giveaway Entry)
I just found your IG and podcast yesterday and don’t know how I haven’t seen it until now?! I love that green and think it really suits you BUT from my own experience, if you don’t love it, don’t make it. I’ve forced myself to continue before just because I started something and the result is a garment I don’t wear. (Also, giveaway entry. How fun to knit a matching pair of socks with a viewer!)
Hi Chelsea, thx for all the youtube podcast recs. I just subscribed to sll! i really enjoy your podcast, and look forward to see everything you have knit, and are knitting, Absolutely beautiful choices and yarns used! Love the green blouse and the mossy green you just purchased with the mohair. I get you don’t want to knit another green garment right now, but I know you want to knit that pattern, soooo choose another color. I am currently knitting the Wheatsheeves Cardigan in Peace Fleece patience blue and loving the pattern and yarn. Making it with less drape and cropped ;)) ps have you ever watched the Grocery Girls podcast. Jodi cracks me up. (She is always “you guys”) Anyway, aren’t we drawn to those (besides great knitting content) down to earth. Those we know wr could so hang out with and would get on great with?! Anyhoo, count me in for the Giveaway Entry. Also, The Black sheep knitter, Taylor Owen, Kristin Lehrer, curatorial knits, knitting traditions, (and my first knitting podcast) The Gentle Knitter,
Also woolhandsneedles, andsewon, hundred acre wool, knitting by the sea, and tinydesk knitting. I love soo many
OMG thanks for all the podcasts recs, I will check them out! I really appreciate all the kind words
Funny how we get obsessed with some colors! I’m trying to step away fro the cool neutrals and step into the warm darker colors which are actually much better for my complexion… I also would love to knit some socks but I always end up casting on something else… one day… (giveaway entry)
thank you for another great episode and saying such sweet things about me, I‘m so happy we met on here and will soon be able to spent time in real life 💗 I‘m so excited for the summer!
ME TOO!
I just recently stumbled across your podcast and was obsessed with your contents!
Thank you so much! It really is all about just leaning into what works at the moment
I always love seeing your new projects and that yarn is 🥰🥰🥰! (Giveaway entry)
*giveaway entry* that yarn is absolutely beautiful!
I also adore the v neck sweater you made, it looks so comfortable! ❤
Love your style and your colour choices, I always find your podcasts really inspiring 😃
I've never knited socks before, but the giveaway entry yarn looks amazing!
Thank you so much for sharing, Olatz! I appreciate the kind words
That green yarn combo for the port sweater is AMAZING! I love the way it’s knitting up and here I am begging you not to frog it!
Ps. Count this comment as my giveaway entry! 🖤🖤
I’ve been drawn to those mossy greens lately too so I love the greens in your Port Sweater. Would love to make some matching socks with the giveaway yarn too-I had sworn off socks until you showed your 9 inch circulars and I’ve knitted two pairs in two weeks now that I’ve purchased those! (Giveaway entry)
Two pairs in two weeks?! Dang I need that speed! 😅 thanks so much for the feedback, I think I just needed a break from the green because now that I pulled it out for this episode I’m pretty much sold on it again 😆
Just found you. Great episode! Thanks for the chance to win in the giveaway
What a wonderful giveaway! I love Bigfoot yarn! This is my giveaway entry!!!
Oh really! Have you knit with it before?
@@truelaneknits yes!! I got her supernatural mini skein set and so far have only knit up the swatch, but thinking about doing a fade shawl of some sort so the swatch isn’t really necessary now.
I love the hermione every day socks, and they look so good in the hand dyed yarn :). (giveaway entry).
Feels crazy to hear you talk about other people encouraging you to knit when I’ve been crocheting most of my life and I’ve followed you for years and when you started knitting and doing these podcasts I wanted to try! (Also I really wanted to make garments that looked professional) I also run to my phone when I get the notification that you’ve posted. ❤ (giveaway entry)
That is so kind of you to say, thank you so much!!!
The giveaway entry yarn is gorgeous!
Giveaway entry! And that mossy color for the port sweater is gorgeous (-:
Giveaway entry > Beautiful yarn. Would love making socks out of speckled yarn.
Ohh love the greens. I’m in that phase as the moment too. I’m knitting a lento in an Aran weight olive green tweed. Loving it so far. Be fun to knitnup the same socks. Would love to be entered into the giveaway entry. ❤. I was also casting on a Saturday shrug while watching you this morning. I’m using some Unspun yarn from crux fibres I. Three natural colours.
Ohh those sound like lovely projects! 😍 I think I will keep going on the green after a few more projects in between 🤗
