I 100% believe the sole reason so many don't know it is due to it coming out near the very end of the ps3 and start of the ps4 but being stuck on ps3. I hope we get another DW Gundam game maybe with a pc
I really hope that this is NOT the final Dynasty Warriors Gundam game, because there are STILL things they have yet to add in this franchise in terms of characters and history missions. The main thing I want more than anything else is for them to finish the Gundam Wing roster in the game. They are STILL missing Quatre and Sandrock Gundam, and Wufei and Altron/Nakatu Gundam.
Excellent review, a perfect sendoff to the DW: Gundam series. This was also the very first PS3 game I ever got a platinum trophy due to how much fun this was. The story modes were a lot more engaging, and the extensive mission modes were a lot of fun. It helped a lot too that you could use your own custom music, allowing you to insert your own anime theme songs, making the experience even more enjoyable! ♪♪♪
Great review Chris! My biggest gripe with this whole series has to be the lack of more suits from G Gundam. Burning and Master Gundam are both awesome but I really wish they would've added at least a few more.
The game that got me into the Warriors series. Spent around 100 hours blasting guys in my favorite suits here and it was AMAZING. With this game warriors gmes finally "clicked" for me and i started enjoying the other non Gundam entries. i love this game and it will always hold a special place in my heart. Thanks for another amazing Musou May Chris, it's been a blast like always :)
Great review. This is my favorite game of the gundam warriors series. Just to note, the reason the Neo Zoeng wasnt in this game was because this game came out on Dec 2013, a whole 6 months before the final episode of Unicorn aired in June 2014
Die-Nasty Warriors Gundam Reborn, was and still is my favorite from the series of games. My favorite Gundam was always, The Death Scythe Custom, with more of what looked like a vampire Gundam. I would have really liked it if they had of come out with a Dynasty Gundam Game with all of the Gundam's and their variants, but it looks as though all I can do is dream, for it will more than likely never happen. Most of the reasons that they never release a sequel to a game is because it didn't do well when they released it, sort of like Metal Max series, completely long and forgotten, as is such as thus.
Loved Reborn back in the day. Still baffled that Schwartz and Rose didn't get the Shadow and Rising Gundams. I'll also call out the weird exclusion of the Savior from the SEED Destiny roster.
literally just found out DWG 3 one of my all time favorite games HAD A SEQUEL and i didnt even hear about it. Needless to say im playing it right now and i am so excited, its like finding a long lost gem that you were always meant to enjoy
The Deathscythe and its EW version of Deathscythe Hell are my absolute favorite Gundams. So, Dynasty Warriors Gundam 3 and Reborn are both looking pretty appealing to me right now. I'm grateful for your reviews of both games.
I didn't even know this game had DLC. I went on a spree buying all the DW Gundamn games last year and found this one then, was glad to see it was still normally priced on the PSN digitally... and I didn't get the DLC at the time. And now it's delisted :(
I had to look up a guide for some of the trivia questions because they have to fo with animes I hadn't seen. But this game is honestly one of my top favourite Warriors games.
I knew it. I had a feeling that they were unable to provide English voiceovers due to budgeting. I understand this from a budgeting perspective, to cut costs, but that is a huge sacrifice to pay. Missing out on good dub performances like in the previous three games. Let’s hope they make up for that for a future DWG game. (Should they decide to make it ofc.)
Hell, they could've replaced the entire cast with much cheaper VAs that sounded more or less the same if they were looking to save money. It's not like a live action show or movie where if the actor doesn't want to do it anymore or they're demanding too much money you have to write them out. Just put a bit of time and effort into finding people who sound like the originals, that's all that's needed. Not having a dub is the whole reason why I won't even touch Reborn. I hate Japanese voice acting.
@@Verm0uth07 Since the voice acting was bad, apparently they didn't. Even the great VAs were once nobodies just getting out of school and just waiting for someone to recognize their talent. All they had to do was look at the recents coming out, find the good ones, and have them work on the game. It's really really easy, it just takes some time to weed out the shitty ones.
I recently download a emulator and played the reborn sequal as i only played till 3 during my childhood and man, reborn is the best entry in the game, you were right in saying not many people knew there was a sequal to 3, i felt that if they had just given the 4 to the sequal it would have succeeded more. The combo system is so refined and so much better then the prequels it's amazing
It didn’t get a disc release in the west I believe, which was kind of a death nail because internet gaming on consoles was still starting to take off and a lot of households didn’t have high speed access yet. I think people also had this image of it not being a “full” game being internet only.
It did get a physical in English in Europe. There was a rule that Sony of America didn't want any games with Japanese only voice options being released physically for the PS3.
Super fun game. About a year ago I purchased a ps3 and re-dl'd this game. I loved this game so much I even made a tier list that included all the mobile suits and was pretty shocked to discover what were the strongest suits in the game! If anyone is interested in the tier list feel free to ask.
I just downloaded this for RPCS3 with all the DLC and a quick patch that prevented any crashing and it runs flawlessly at 1080p upscaled to 4k *with* HDR. All that combined really make the mobile suit details pop and the HDR give a nice boost to the color saturation that's sorely lacking without it. And not to mention that even a mid-tier PC like mine can run it at a rock solid 60 FPS with no dips. RPCS3 really is the way to go nowadays. I would have happily purchased the game just like I recently bought warriors orichi 3 ultimate on PC, but the greedy morons at toei removed reborn from the playstation store probably to get you to buy DW9 and all its overpriced DLC instead. So since I cannot even purchase the game, playing an ultimate definitive version on PC for free is a real treat lol
Similar story on my end. Never got the console so I missed out on it. Learning there was a 4th DWG game and I could emulate it made me a happy man. Bonus for me, I get to play the other 3, especially the first, because I love the Original story on that one.
@@Sorain1 Ya the story mode is not bad in Reborn, but I realize I just don't like the core gameplay, it's too shallow for robots. They should have spent less resources on filling the screen with models and dumped their time into developing a better physics and damage system for the mobile suits.
I've had this game for a year or two but it didn't really hook me in. Until the last few days that is! It's become a full-blown obsession by now and I can't put it down!
Dynasty Warriors Gundam 3 was my favorite since it came out. By the time Reborn was released I've put 100's of hours into 3 and was so invested into it. Biggest thing I loved was the art style and learning how to link my air musou with charge attack 5. I remember I rented Reborn on Gamefly and I decided it wasn't for me; I was an Xbox 360 user and not a PS3 user, the graphics looked like a downgrade, and there wasn't a charge attack 5 (I totally forgot you had to level up to it so that was my bad). Cut to this last month and I started DWG3 again and I was enjoying it, but then I finally decided to give Reborn a second try after seeing comments saying how DWG3 is the DW6 of the DWG series and DWG Reborn was better. First thing I noticed was the boost meter: in Reborn you have the same amount of boost in early game as DWG3 endgame with minovsky particles. After that I learned about the new R2 button that you use to transform without using your musou that gives you access to charge attack 6 early game. I've only done a few missions so far but I'm definitely excited to play it. DWG3 will always be my first love (after 1 and 2) but I'm happy that 9 years later I get to discover a brand new (to me) DWG game.
I've resorted to emulating this on PC. Also Gundam Breaker series exists now so Bamco likely won't grant Koei the rights to another installment as it would conflict.
If I could run Bandai for a day, the first thing I would do is get them started on another DW Gundam game for the newest consoles, making sure that it included music from the anime and English dubs as well in as cramming as many mobile suits and characters as possible. Maybe someday.
I think one of the big holes in Reborn's receotion was the lack of an Xbox release. It was the only DWG that was PlayStation exclusive, which is why I've never played it.
On the note of DW Gundam on the go, been replaying them on the Steam Deck through emulation and it is amazing. DWG3 and Reborn can be a little choppy at times, but it's not all that different from how it ran on the PS3 and it's not very noticable when in the heat of the battle. If they ever get a port for Steam though, I have no doubt they will run great and sell like hot cakes. Maybe then they would see how profitable a new game would be, and give us a game with more mobile suits from the series that didn't get as much attention like G Gundum and even Wing really. So many great classic mobile suits from those shows that would have fans raging to play as.
Super late but a big correction regarding the Unicorn bits The Unicorn OVA series hadn't actually finished by the time the FA Unicorn was released as DLC. The variant had actually been around for a while long before the episodes and the corresponding story you play was lifted from the novel version As for why Neo Zeong wasn't in the game, it's tied to the OVA series not being finished. The Neo Zeong was actually an anime-exclusive addition that wasn't present in the original novel. It's also why there's no Banshee Norn
I really loved following this series about Dynasty Warriors Gundam games. I played the second game of this franchise a lot on my dear PS2, how I miss it. One thing that makes me a little sad about Dynasty Warriors Gundam Reborn is that they didn't even bother to adapt the events of ZZ Gundam in the game, since the events that took place in the anime especially in the second half are very important for the chronology from U.C, they only mention it at the end of the Zeta Gundam story mode, and I really loved watching ZZ Gundam.
Great content chris! I love your reviews and video edits. Your content is always high quality. Even though I never played much of the gundam series watching your videos gives me a really good feeling for the game A to Z keep up the great work! 👍
This has probably been pointed out already but at 13:58 you said why doesn’t this game have the Neo Zeong? The answer is that this game came out December 19, 2013 (probably started development in 2011) and the last episode of Unicorn when it made its appearance came out on June 6, 2014. This explains why the campaign cuts off pretty suddenly. Obviously they could have added it as DLC like they did with the Full Armour Unicorn. Unfortunately Gundam games that featured Unicorn before 2015 always had the bare minimum since it took years to finish the series and we were lucky to get the Banshee Norn. Good video otherwise and I play this game on Vita during my daily commute to work
Wow! I knew this was THE BEST in the DWG franchise. Wishing Bandai Namco will release at least another DWG with updated mecha and pilot roster from the latest series, and maybe they can include some crossover outside the Gundam Universe.
@@lanceyanos622 yea it’s weird I seem to be noticing gundam springing up everywhere, you even got Asus Gundam and Zaku pc cases and graphics cards now. I know it’s the Star Wars of Japan and all but I remember when it hit the west with Gundam Wing, it flirted with mainstream success here for a year two then just melted off after UC stuff had problems gaming interest on toonami (this is when I became a fan). Now all of a sudden I keep seeing games and products everywhere now hitting stateside. I got my tickets to see the new Gundam Cucuruz island movie next week and I saw 13 people had already ordered seats in my sleepy Midwest city. That new Gundam evolution Overwatch clone for PC seems to be carving out a base too on twitch. I’m definitely not complaining but just wondering why the sudden enthusiasm again.
Sucks we never got another one after this, suits with i-fields blocked beam shots nullifying them entirely, and Akatsuki's burst ability made beam shots reflect off of it. FA Unicorn also had an i-field when you used the charge attack that deploys the shield bits
I imagine the first two sold well, and then interest died out. The nail in the coffin for Reborn is thanks to it being PS3 exclusive and no physical in NA with only a limited release in Europe. Maybe someday Namco and Koei will look at all the want for a port on PC and modern consoles, or a sequel.
Your complaint about Shamblo and Neo Zeong, do remember this game came out shortly during and after Ep 5 of Unicorn. Ep 6 wasn't even out by then so we didn't know anything about Neo Zeong. Not adding Shamblo was probably due to time constraint. If you replay Unicorn's story again, you notice how it just ends at Ep 4 and leaves it at that. Unicorn was not finished with it story at the time of this game's creation. Also, while Seed and Destiny getting their own story was nice, we lost ZZ story mode as a result, and to this day I still don't understand why. They kept Mobile Suit Gundam and Zeta Gundam's story so why remove ZZ's story in the process? I always had the theory that one of the reasons was because Ple's seiyuu passed away around this time and not wanting to reuse her voice lines, they omitted ZZ's story as a result (still reused her voice line regardless as a playable character, both Ple and Ple Two). Not a lot of people were happy about Seed and Destiny getting their entry to story mode at the time. Many people wanted to see other Gundam series get their fare share into story mode. Gundam Wing definitely felt the highest chance to get a story mode since we had Wing Zero, Deathsycthe Hell, Heavyarms Custom, Epyon, and Tallgeese II. However, where Sandrock Custom and Altron? Where the Taurus (Sanc Kingdom version)? Where the regular Wing Gundam or Tallgeese? Why is Schwarz still reusing Burning/God Gundam? Where his Shadow/Spiegel Gundam? Where Allenby with Nobel? Where the rest of the Shuffle Alliance gang? Why doesn't the Dark Army have it different variants in the game (quad leg, flight type, etc)? Most insulting of all, where the 0080 cast? Your telling me that we still can't have Alex Gundam, Kampfer, Zaku-II Kai, Z'Gok E, and HyGogg?
I played the first gundum dynasty warriors as a kid and loved it. 14 years later I just tried the third dynasty warriors and was happy with the trip down memory lane, but the game didn't live up to the first one. I thought the third game would just be a better version of the first game I played, but I was mistaken and disappointed. I was mainly disappointed with the story and the maps, it just seemed like all the missions were copy pastes of others with slight changes in enemies. I thought maybe I was misremembering the first game since I was 10 when I played it and thought maybe gundum dynasty warriors just wasn't as fun as I remembered. However, I just started playing Reborn and holy shit it felt like I was a kid again. Reborn feels like the first game, at least from what I can remember from it, but 100x better. The maps, gameplay, story, new gundums, etc, are amazing and feels like they really put time into this game unlike the third one. I am so happy I gave the games another chance and will be happily playing through the whole game. Also thank you for making this video because if I didn't stumble upon it I would have never have thought to try the game.
10:21 That is Non-Grade or First Grade 1/144 which is not articulated. My first kit is NG or FG 1/144 Strike Freedom. Not sure if you just used the bandai box art and got knock-off kit or You're referring to the actual box which is the First Grade Gunner Zaku
I remember doing some research because the box I have has a Hongli logo and what I found is that it is technically not a knock off, but a Chinese licensed kit that wasn't designed by Bandai. I just said Chinese knock off because it was less words lol
Pros: * Fleshed out stories for MSG, Zeta, CCA, Unicorn and the SEED series. * Large variety of suits and pilots and getting to use Mobile Armor too * The card/unlock system is an interesting addition * Revamped combat control Cons: * The game's blueprint system is too grindy for my liking * No story for ZZ Gundam and Wing is a shame
If they don't want to make a new game please get to porting! There are so many games i wouldn't care if it was just a literal port and these games are apart of that!!!!!
Finally you completed review for this game, next you can review all gundam versus series, i think you can start from gundam versus gundam psp version before you play xtreme vs maxi boost on
I’ve had this game since day one, but hadn’t really given it a fair shot. Only played 10 hours of it before and it’s been shelved for 10 years, but I think I couldn’t get over the fact that the game didn’t go with the much more appealing cell shaded look from 3. As of today, I’ve decided to give it another chance, since most people like it much more than 3!
This game definitely beats out 3 in my opinion. The only thing holding it back from a 10/10 is the lack of stories for popular series like Wing and ZZ.
Ever since playing Fate Extella LINK I've found myself a lot more critical of the progression systems in Musou style games - the methods by which the designers allow the player to enhance the characters and make them stronger. I've found that far too many use these systems as a means of introducing grind to these games, causing them to feel frustratingly limiting in the beginning and bloatedly grind-heavy during the later dozens of hours of play. Currently the biggest offender on the former issue is Fire Emblem Warriors, what with locking full movesets behind a limited consumable material that each character needs more than one of. I would have liked to hear more on your thoughts/feelings about the Plan system in this game (which I'm personally not a huge fan of), the pace at which characters level up and gain access to moves, and the availability of upgrade resources.
For me personally mobile armor could use more love i actually think 3 and 4 lose something from 2. I felt like in two, you actually built relationships with other pilots. They would then help you if you got in trouble. Plus you could actually "train" under each pilot. In 3 and 4, i felt like you lost any kind of pilot relations plus the "mobile suit lab" is a joke in reborn. I just started reborn two days ago....via extracurricular means.i also like the mission structure from 2 alot more. I actually felt like each pilot was different and you had to WORK for the suits
Really hope this game would come back so we can have Barbatos, AGE, and Aerial. But Koei Tecmo seems to be more focused on their own IP nowadays, like DoA Warriors crossover
I wish every generation after the X360/PS3 era had all four Gundam games as rereleases (all in one collection) or backward compatibles. It's a shame that these games are still overlooked which I enjoyed so much.
i never got why wing and g gundam didn't get full line ups of suits. its a warriors game all of g gundams mine lineup are melee focused units and for wing 3/5 are melee focused where the two that arent are already in game.
Ah hearing digital only I begin to understand why I never really heard of the game I guess. I wasn't big on digital only version of console games back then, even though I am a pc gamer and didn't had issues with steam games, for consoles I wanted physical copies due to the extremely limited harddisc space consoles provided as well as the short life span consoles have compared to PC. I mean, I can still download my games 15 years later on the pc without having to dust of a old machine and hoping the controller still works (my ps3 controller stopped working and I can't find a new one anywhere, only cheap knockoffs that get very bad reviews ). This was a awesome Musou may! I love the Dynasty Gundam games, hell it combined two awesome things, Gundam and Musou! Thanks to this edition I dusted off my 360 and put Gundam 2 into it again, and holy crap that game looks beautiful even today. Hopefully we will see more Gundam games appearing, though I doubt we ever get another Musou version seeing it's been 8 years since the last one. Would be cool to get a Simulator type game on pc. There are a bunch on the consoles but the PC only recently started to get Gundam games with New Gundam Breaker (not a good game sadly) and the SD Gundam/ Super Robot games, but not really a Gundam game were you actually control a Gundam directly yourself. Here is hoping!
If you're interested in simulator style Gundam games, I found Battle Operation 2 to be more simulation than action game. I don't think it's come out on PC yet, but it's set to come out soon. It's also free to play, so you don't have to spend money unless you want to.
Just so everyone knows this game and dlc are available for free on the ps3 emulator for pc and you can play the game up to 1440p no problems, also there a video you n youtube that has a link to a patch to fix a weird crash for some people on the emulator.
I'd love to play this. But in the UK at least its either hard to find or over £100 from sellers online. Got no affordable way to get it but want to own it.
If One Piece can get a Warriors game, I think Gundam can too. I would love to play this game on my Switch with everything. The voice acting issue, I have a feeling they will be sticking with JP since Gundam EN voice acting has shifted from Canada to US/LA/NY and the budget to get all those actors back or have characters recast would be polarizing to say the least, trust me a mile of difference between the Canadian dub vs the American dub of Gundam Seed/Destiny, so JP would be the safer option. I would love for some Astray/Stargazer reps like Strike Noir and Astray Gold Frame Amatsu Perfect Form, they would be fun😊
If there's ever going to be another Gundam Musou ("Reborn 2"?), then KT will have *_a lot_* of new Gundam media to sift through for new Pilots & Mobile Suits to add to the roster. ^ Especially to complete what's clearly missing for ZZ, Unicorn, & SEED Destiny. And then there's the upcoming *_Witch from Mercury_* series to draw from.... I do wonder if KT will be up to making another of these.
@@ChrisGildart Speaking of including IBO pilots/MS to the roster, I have to wonder if KT would do anything to change up the _types of damage_ that each playable MS across the various series can inflict. Every attack in the game is already affected by either the "Melee" [close-range] or "Shot" [long-range] stats... but there's something beyond that I'd like to see. What about something like *"PHYSICAL"* for non-beam attacks (maybe further separated into *six* categories; "strike", "slash", "projectile", "linear", "GN", and "superheated")? The "linear" term, of course, would refer to _railguns_ and similar weapons, and "superheated" would cover those like heat-rods & *Sandrock's* heat shotels. There should be no confusion on what "strike" or "slash" refers to. Of course, then there has to be *"ENERGY"* (also sub-divided into six; "incendiary", "mega-particle", "laser", "plasma", "sonic", and _"nuclear"_ armaments). To clarify, *both* "mega-particle" and "plasma" refer to _Beam_ weapons, but the basic distinction is that the vast majority of MS that run on _nuclear reactors_ can use mega-particle weapons [that can also draw power from their reactors]; all the rest have to rely on plasma weapons with replaceable energy packs (like most of the Cosmic Era MS units). All of this would serve to distinguish just _how_ effective your attacks could be against other MS (also for _balancing_ reasons). *Beam Sabers,* for example, obviously fall under the [Melee] stat but rely on either one of two Energy damage-types (mega-particle or plasma) to calculate. *ALSO:* Let's not forget, as IBO tried to demonstrate, the difference in *_resistances_* to damage-types across the various Gundam series (which wouldn't be _exactly_ the same across all series before IBO anyway).
If they were to make a new game in the series, I'd want them to drop doing offical as a mode. There's a reason for that. I want them to put together a solid soup of AU material and do a modern take on the Original mode from DWG1, with a 'Faction' setup done properly like they failed to fully execute on in 3. Throwing in an eclectic mix of suits, armor, ships, locations and pilots from the many AU's with a touch of UC for flavor would open up opportunities to just go hog wild with it. Think 'The entire Wing Team' 'All 3 AGE machines' A solid selection from IBO and WfM, maybe finally get some of the other G Gundam fighters in game. Take the basic outline they've used before (Musha/Knight Gundam pull shinnanigans) as their excuse to pull some crazy nonsense like a few selections from Build Fighters. Whip out the Blue Destiny and Pale Rider units, ect. Lastly, DLC farming, all the DLC farming. "Oh, you want a mission chain for 0079? Or ZZ? DLC." Throw in some new suits/armors/ships/environments and they would be making bank without the need for another game release. Take the structure of Reborn's chain of missions format and use that for farming that delicious MTX money by giving people 'recreations' of key battles from assorted series. (Endless Waltz mission anyone?) "Oh, you miss this thing from X/Y/Z series we didn't bring this time? DLC." Do themed packs by series so each is some suits, (including soldiers), some pilots, some missions and maybe 1 environment added each. This would let you charge significant chunks while letting customers feel like they're getting proper value for money. This is a money train you could keep going for low cost with a few people working for potentially 2-3 _years_ worth of recurrent income.
Another great review! It's sad that the franchise died after Reborn. And it was interesting seeing you playing with Lacus piloting Wing Zero EW because in CrossRays i did the same eheheheheh.
I wish they make another one to be honest. Make it available for Steam or even Switch if its possible. I just want more suits for G Gundam and Gundam X. It's asinine how they can add Schwarz Bruder yet not his Mobile Fighter. They have the time to add the Katoki redesign of Wing Zero but not add a suit for a guy that's literally been there since the last game. Gundam X deserves way more than just the 1 suit they gave it since DWG3. Either Virsago Chest Break or even just the X Divider would be enough. I get G Gundam and Gundam X aren't as popular as Wing, but Bandai is really showing their favoritism here. It's entirely their fault that the series fell off in popularity after Wing in Japan, it's annoying that they blame the series.
I don't have a PS3 so I'll have to resort to emulation for the Gundam games. I just tried Reborn and, with a patch, it seems that it runs fine enough, so I'll play this in the future. For now I'll wait for Three Hopes, I don't want to burn myself with musou titles.
@@ChrisGildart Gundam Breaker 3 had an English Release only in Asia which makes it a bit more difficult to get hold of and on top of that they did also release a "Break Edition" as well which came with all the dlc which is the best one to get as the dlc is all on disc as well so you don't need to create a Singapore psn Account. But yeah as you may or may not know its based around Gunpla and I believe it has every mobile suit up to its release and you mix parts from any suit you want to make your own custom suit with you mentioning you like the model kit I imagine you'll really like that feature so I definitely recommend trying it out if you can get a hold of it.
@@ChrisGildart Ok cool if you're looking to buy more Gundam games then I don't know if the SD forms will appeal to you but G Generation Genesis and G Generation Cross Rays are good games to get though once again they only got English releases in Asia well if you exclude them releasing G Generation Cross Rays on Steam but that's if you don't mind the digital option.
If I could make another recommendation for next year's MusouMay? I'd recommend the trilogy game series, Kamen Rider Battride War. Two of them are only on ps3, and the 3rd one is also on ps4. They're all only japanese exclusives and based on the series, Kamen Rider. But I still think they'd be fun for ya to try out?
Musou May is meant to celebrate the Musou franchise itself as well as Koei Tecmo. Since those aren't made by Koei I won't be featuring them in Musou May. But I do own the first two games, so I'll be covering them at some point on their own.
@@ChrisGildart Oh I see, I hope Koei gives this series a go since we know there's fun to be had in this series not just for Gundam fans but Musou fans in general.
One thing you forgot to add was that they allowed custom music now since the Original Western OST of this game is DOGSHIT compare to the first 3 games. That means you can substitute the anime OST that you downloaded according to JP ver. and make it a complete experience.
The lack of grunt units as playable and some that are even featured as npc units that join you or fight against you on the last gundam game entry (the sd one released sometime ago) was one of the biggest disappointments I had with both the spin offs and major titles or participating titles (like with super robot wars games)
I 100% believe the sole reason so many don't know it is due to it coming out near the very end of the ps3 and start of the ps4 but being stuck on ps3.
I hope we get another DW Gundam game maybe with a pc
I would say it being a digital exclusive in North America also really hurt it. Back then, store front presence meant a lot.
I really hope that this is NOT the final Dynasty Warriors Gundam game, because there are STILL things they have yet to add in this franchise in terms of characters and history missions. I dont think its coming back but I wish.
Dude if they go Wild I wish they went with "Gundam Build Musou" It would be WILD AS FUCK.
That would be fantastic, especially since Brad Swaile plays, Amuro, Quatre, Dearca AND Setsuna. But... the guy who plays Trowa sadly passed away. 😔

Tell me about it. Shining Gundam kinda gets fully wiped out for any Gundam game spite the fact it was what started the series.
So much this. The fact that my favorite Gundam of all time, Shining Gundam, was completely overlooked for Burning Gundam is a tragedy.

Thanks for the clarification. I thought Unicorn was finished by this release.
I'm actually looking to play 2 and 3 because I only played reborn, and i still am a huge fan of this game. ❤❤❤
Die-Nasty Warriors Gundam Reborn, was and still is my favorite from the series of games.
My favorite Gundam was always,
The Death Scythe Custom,
with more of what looked like a vampire Gundam.
It really sucks that they never made another game. And gundam versus was good but hard!
Charged Attack
Charge Attack
Char's Attack
This series was the first to let me pilot my dream suit the wing zero and I’ll always be grateful for it 😊
Loved Reborn back in the day.
You gotta love when that happens!
The Bearguy is not a joke suit, it appeared in Gunpla Builders Beginning G OVA, the spiritual predecessor of Gundam Build Fighters.
It's in Gundam Breaker 3 too! 👍
And now it's delisted :(
The combat changes look amazing. I love musou games that have objectives during the missions and that trivia stage sounds like a blast to play through
I had to look up a guide for some of the trivia questions because they have to fo with animes I hadn't seen.
@@immortalfriezaDynasty Warriors 9 tried getting cheap VAs for the english dub and we all know how that turned out.
@@Verm0uth07 That's what something called "Casting" is for.
@@immortalfrieza they're not going to do that, you think they did casting when they made the dub for dw9?
This game is the last one I haven’t experienced and I’m glad to hear such a decent review!
Also I love your hair :3
I still play this game every day.
I got this game as a Birthday Present back in 2015.
I STiLL LoVe IT
It's one of those games that you could play for years and still make little bits of progress.
They made it more like the first one. I’m really happy about that.
So since I cannot even purchase the game, playing an ultimate definitive version on PC for free is a real treat lol
nice ill be looking to do that as well
Similar story on my end.
It'll do that, for sure!
Absolutely loving this series of reviews of the Gundam musou games.
Now if only we could have a Transformers musou. I'd play the heck out of that.
I'd definitely love a Trasformers Musou! Especially with G1 designs.
Great video as always. That pic of the four games coming to Steam hit hard. If they ever do come to Steam, I'll join you in becoming a hermit
Glad I can have someone else join me in isolation to play these games 😅
Great video. That's will be cool if you review other gundam games like Gundam VS Extreme Maxi Boost On
I have a couple Gundam games in the collection, but not a whole lot. Would love to look at the others like Maxi Boost and the Breaker series.
@@ChrisGildart Which gundam games you have haha?
If I could run Bandai for a day, the first thing I would do is get them started on another DW Gundam game for the newest consoles, making sure that it included music from the anime and English dubs as well in as cramming as many mobile suits and characters as possible. Maybe someday.
I would also make a point to port the previous 4 games to modern platforms.
I still have the physical that I bought few years ago, for cheap on ebay one of the best dynasty warriors games
Nice! Hopefully someday I'll snag a good deal on the physical, myself.
Bought my copy 4 years ago for $50.....I had to import it here to the U.S.
I think one of the big holes in Reborn's receotion was the lack of an Xbox release. It was the only DWG that was PlayStation exclusive, which is why I've never played it.
I really wish this was on Xbox too.
So many great classic mobile suits from those shows that would have fans raging to play as.
this game perfectly show how good new types are , simply having this game playable on another or newer console is really needed
Playing this for the first time on RCPS3 with all graphical perks. I love it. I like the look of DW3 the best, but Reborn is better everywhere else.
I think if Reborn had the looks of 3, I'd love it even more.
3 looked the best but had the absolute worst stages and practically space battles!
@@tmitsurugi7777 Yeah. It’s really odd that Reborn didn’t use 3 visuals. It could have been the perfect DWG game for me.
Super late but a big correction regarding the Unicorn bits
The Unicorn OVA series hadn't actually finished by the time the FA Unicorn was released as DLC. The variant had actually been around for a while long before the episodes and the corresponding story you play was lifted from the novel version
As for why Neo Zeong wasn't in the game, it's tied to the OVA series not being finished. The Neo Zeong was actually an anime-exclusive addition that wasn't present in the original novel. It's also why there's no Banshee Norn
Thanks!
I haven't seen the ZZ anime yet, but I'm also disappointed we didn't see any story from it in this game.
Great content chris! I love your reviews and video edits. Your content is always high quality. Even though I never played much of the gundam series watching your videos gives me a really good feeling for the game A to Z keep up the great work! 👍
Glad you enjoyed the videos!
I think IBO would be perfect for a Warriors style game.
@@ChrisGildart you bet sir! I am also looking forward for the complete lineup of Wing Boys and maybe they can also include a guest mecha from Sunrise
I’d even settle for a rerelease of all of the games in 4k in a collection, it’s weird how they haven’t returned to the franchise after this many years
@@mikeg2491 I do agree with you sir. It's a shame that despite the Gundam franchise is expanding, DWG looks like it won't be.
Just bought 1- Reborn Japam Import ❤
Sucks we never got another one after this, suits with i-fields blocked beam shots nullifying them entirely, and Akatsuki's burst ability made beam shots reflect off of it. FA Unicorn also had an i-field when you used the charge attack that deploys the shield bits
Sales on this series must have been poor, when 3 first came out my local gamestop only had 2 copies
@@ChrisGildart plus lack of a dub. Still own a physical copy of reborn though
We really need a Gundam Dynasty Warriors 5 - Released to all consoles not just playstation.
I remember using banshee a whole lot because it can bypass guarding
I didn't know that. I've been trying to get all the S Rank parts needed for the platinum. I already got Banshee's early on.
Glad to hear you enjoyed it! Going back and playing games from your childhood can be a mixed bag sometimes.
Oh my god, you just unlocked a hidden memory in my brain
10:21 That is Non-Grade or First Grade 1/144 which is not articulated. My first kit is NG or FG 1/144 Strike Freedom.
Not sure if you just used the bandai box art and got knock-off kit or You're referring to the actual box which is the First Grade Gunner Zaku
I remember doing some research because the box I have has a Hongli logo and what I found is that it is technically not a knock off, but a Chinese licensed kit that wasn't designed by Bandai. I just said Chinese knock off because it was less words lol
The new one is the ad alliance. It looks pretty good
Do you plan on doing Warriors: Legends of Troy at any point? Maybe next Musou May?
I wish we could get a sequel or remake or at least bring the roster to warriors orochi
I don't know. I haven't honestly solidified the theme for next year yet.
A sequel actually made by the Japanese team would be dope!
@@ChrisGildart hell yeah. I really want my boy Hector back
Pros:
* Fleshed out stories for MSG, Zeta, CCA, Unicorn and the SEED series.
* Large variety of suits and pilots and getting to use Mobile Armor too
* The card/unlock system is an interesting addition
* Revamped combat control
Cons:
* The game's blueprint system is too grindy for my liking
* No story for ZZ Gundam and Wing is a shame
Pro and con- we get Wing gundam zero custom finally but its DLC
If they don't want to make a new game please get to porting!
There are so many games i wouldn't care if it was just a literal port and these games are apart of that!!!!!
Right?
My Greatest Dynasty Warriors Gundam Game of All-Time Is (Dynasty Warriors Gundam 2).
I put around 600 hrs in that game. No lie
I didn't know this game existed. But I am xbox/PC only. I would buy it right now.
I’m playing this with emulator
It also didn't help that the west just didn't get a physical copy, while japan and UK did.
Agree with you on the missing gundam wing suits also gundam OO was missing a few notable characters and suits the trinity siblings and Ali al sachez.
I haven't watched 00, but I've heard good things about it.
@@ChrisGildart Have you seen it yet? It's quite good!
Not yet. Someday.
Really hope this game would come back so we can have Barbatos, AGE, and Aerial. But Koei Tecmo seems to be more focused on their own IP nowadays, like DoA Warriors crossover
It's ultimately a Namco Bandai decision whether they want to make more. They're the ones that own the IP.
I know right? Sandrock and Shenlong should have been in the game!
I have to agree with you on those games. They should have a Steam version and i would definitly buy them for sure.
I would buy them all if they came to Steam. 100% day one purchase, even DWG1.
I wanna hope another DW: Gundam that have Barbatos in it. My favorite gundam of all of them.
I think a DWG centered around the story of IBO would be perfect.
@@ChrisGildart I agree or maybe like alternate story.
Man, I miss this series so much.
Dude, same.
^
Especially to complete what's clearly missing for ZZ, Unicorn, & SEED Destiny.
And then there's the upcoming *_Witch from Mercury_* series to draw from.... I do wonder if KT will be up to making another of these.
I think IBO is perfect for a Warriors game. Most suits use sword, axes, and clubs.
DLC."
Do themed packs by series so each is some suits, (including soldiers), some pilots, some missions and maybe 1 environment added each. This would let you charge significant chunks while letting customers feel like they're getting proper value for money. This is a money train you could keep going for low cost with a few people working for potentially 2-3 _years_ worth of recurrent income.
theres a fan made version called reborn 2 where they added alot of more gundams and charters they even fixed a lot of the graphics.
@@tymedia5717 Whoops! Didn't see this reply until now... Would you like to tell me where I could find this "Reborn 2" fan version?
Another great review! It's sad that the franchise died after Reborn. And it was interesting seeing you playing with Lacus piloting Wing Zero EW because in CrossRays i did the same eheheheheh.
I was mostly playing with pilots that needed to reach their 5,000 total kills to become New Types lol 😆
For now I'll wait for Three Hopes, I don't want to burn myself with musou titles.
dude this game this game .. A MASTERPIECE ! best grind i ever did in a game
I'm nearing the platinum, and I almost don't want to finish it, it's too good for this to be the end. lol
Were the DWG games really announced for Steam? Can't find any info about it anywhere.
It was an April Fools thing people were passing around. Not a joke from the actual publishers.
@@ChrisGildart Oh, I see. Even then, couldn't even find the meme image online. Thanks for clarifying.
Honestly, I saved it the instant I saw it. I knew I would end up using it in this script lol
Just started this game a while back
I pray for a new Gundam dynasty warriors game
Dude same.
I knew and played this game and yet if you asked which is the best game in the franchise and I’d still say either 2 or 3
I still play this game!!!! I wish it was playable on the ps5.
Dude, same! We need a modern port.
yeah closet we're gonna get is Gundam Breaker 3 though SD Gundam Battle Alliance is looking promising
I still need to try the Breaker series.
I'll have to keep an eye out for it. I do want to collect more of the Gundam games in general.
The combat in this one was not as good as 3. 3 for me was perfect in all ways. I hope they bring this back one day.
I want them to do a Dynasty warriors Gundam 5 but with Shining Gundam added in.
I just want more Dynasty Warriors Gundam period. I'll accept anything at this point.
What, they don’t have leo’s? That is a shame. It’s my favorite generic mobile suit after the Zaku
I know, right?
If I could make another recommendation for next year's MusouMay? I'd recommend the trilogy game series, Kamen Rider Battride War. Two of them are only on ps3, and the 3rd one is also on ps4. They're all only japanese exclusives and based on the series, Kamen Rider. But I still think they'd be fun for ya to try out?
Musou May is meant to celebrate the Musou franchise itself as well as Koei Tecmo. Since those aren't made by Koei I won't be featuring them in Musou May. But I do own the first two games, so I'll be covering them at some point on their own.
Years ago they did say they were going to make a dynasty warriors going to reborn number 2 I saw it on Twitter years ago but it never came out at all
for the EN version they didnt promote this game well, it was digital only, and exclusive to ps3. this sank the game sadly.
Excuse me, do you know if the servers they use are in operation? To be able to play cooperative online.
I believe they are. When I was streaming it earlier this year, I was able to play online.
Wow Dude is it rally true that that series is getting PC ports? if so, when can we expect it? Great Job on this series as usual btw!
There's no official word on any ports. Someone shared a fake steam page on April Fools and that's all we got so far.
@@ChrisGildart Oh I see, I hope Koei gives this series a go since we know there's fun to be had in this series not just for Gundam fans but Musou fans in general.
It's actually up to Namco as the publisher, but let's hope they realize the want for more Gundam Warriors.
One thing you forgot to add was that they allowed custom music now since the Original Western OST of this game is DOGSHIT compare to the first 3 games. That means you can substitute the anime OST that you downloaded according to JP ver. and make it a complete experience.
One of my favorite warriors games ever
Only reason I still have my PS3.
The lack of grunt units as playable and some that are even featured as npc units that join you or fight against you on the last gundam game entry (the sd one released sometime ago) was one of the biggest disappointments I had with both the spin offs and major titles or participating titles (like with super robot wars games)
10:24 That Zaku Warrior kit is not a chinese knockoff, you just bought a 1/144 No Grade kit
I want dynasty warriors gundam: Brave
Base on the brave battle warriors
They need to make this backwards compatible asap i would buy it in a heartbeat
I do hope we will get PC version one day
Same here
Until then, RPCS3 just needs 1 patch to sort out an issue, easily gotten, and thus I get to enjoy what I missed back in the day!
