Very nice! How watertight/waterproof is that Dwell Shell beneath the pop up RTT? And if I wanted to bring kayaks or canoes is there a way to put rails and crossbars on top of that pop-up RTT? And what kind of an impact to you think that set up would have on average mpg on a long highway drive? or mixed driving, highway and local, mostly local?
Great questions! We use weatherstripping on all parts of the RTD and the lower shell section to make it as water tight as possible. We water test each unit before it is ready for pick up. There are integrated roof rails on top of all of our RTDs and DWELL SHELLs to add cross bars, bike racks, kayak racks, etc. The MPG drop will vary per truck, but it will drop it a little bit, mainly when going high speeds due to wind drag.
Steve! Good to hear from you, we are closer than we have ever been! Stay tuned, we are releasing something exciting (2024 RR-1 LIMITED) at Overland Expo West!
😆Um, no. You could also carry a towel with you so, if needed, you can fold the panel inward and wipe it down before closing it. Not a deal breaker IMHO@@red6743
Thank you Maximus. Yes, super easy to quickly wipe down each wall as you fold it in. Or removing the bedding works well too, the floor is made of aluminum and won't need to worry about mold or rotting.
You guys are doing all the hard work of designing and manufacturing these so I may not know what I am talking- but just from the outsider's perspective as someone who would be interested in this product, I wish the slim line was slimmer still. Looks a tad too bulky. I would be okay with not being able to carry anything other than a mattress.
@@ANTISHANTY That's what I suspected but hey something to strive towards (maybe). Since you responded, I have another question/suggestion: For a model like Tundra which is able to completely open its rear window, why didn't you cut out a window in the camper to match it? That would have made a sweet pass through. (I think structural reasons as is but there could be workaround that).
Great question! Thank you for asking. Prepare to have your mind blown. We offer our Window Kit, which gives you an operable cabside window and a tinted liftgate window.
So all the dirt and grim accumulated in the side walls falls right on all of that sleeping gear? Most of us don’t camp in our backyard, this sounds like a major flaw. We were interested in a hard sided rtt but was taken aback by (1) sheer weight of 300lb (2) exorbitant price of 10k for a tent. Now upon watching this vid, doesn’t look like something reasonably clean in the elements hardsider camper launched their rtt, at 100lb lighter and 4k cheaper. Not without their flaws. More competition is good, I’ll continue waiting because this is ridic.
Appreciate the comment! You are right, not everyone has a backyard like we do, full of mountain lakes, pine trees, and awesome dirt roads! A rag works really good to wipe down the last panel as you fold it, if it ever gets that dirty. Thank you for the feedback. Adventure on!

Sick! Let's see the RTD-C!
Check out our 'What can you fit in the RTD-C' Short!
Are you ever going to do a complete walk-thru on the RR1 Limited. Have you been waiting for a very long time!?👍

Ok, I'm trying to hold out for you guys!✌️
You have been extremely patient for this release! Excited for you!
love this! deal breaker is no cab passthrough or rear window options.
I do believe they have window options!
We do have our window option! It comes with an operable cabside window and a tinted liftgate window.
Thank you!
Love the Dwell Shell! Such a killer product
Thank you! We love it too!
You guys do barn doors in the back? Way better for getting in and out
We do not offer barn doors in the back currently, great question.
Love the concept, but when you fold in the rain covered walls to leave camp, how do you keep all your bedding dry??
I own their AS-1 Limited trailer (incredible). I carry a squeegee with me in case it rains and I need to collapse the roof. Works great!
@@MaximusWilliams you squeegee in the rain too?

@@ANTISHANTYnot just moisture, but dirt and grim too in the desert. This is a major flaw especially at this price range

Thank you for the comment. The RTD-S is about as slim as it can get with the hard walls and the ability to carry a mattress.

The power source also fits in there ? Are you kidding me ?
No! It fits great. We have built in a lot of versatility in all of our products.
I'm asking for a friend: Can it fit a human adult in there?
Haha, no. But our RTD-C (Cargo) can. As you can see in our UA-cam Short, 'What fits in the RTD-C'
