@@molopoantoinette1936 yeah i think Sonny mentioned it in other videos he used to teach for couple years in SKorea before moving to Vietnam
@@quartz.R I think he said he worked in Video production in the entertainment sector no?
Does he have an Asian wife too? I think it's a prerequisite to be a big time UA-cam foodie.
I'm currently traveling in Seoul and it's truly amazing.
I can take one step outside the hotel, go to most mediocre looking restaurant, and it's still better than anything I've had back home. $40 will easily get me decent meal for my family of 4, best part is price on the menu is exactly what you pay, tax is included. NO TIP!!
So refreshing after getting gouged from everybody asking for tip
True 😂
the BTS members all said that Korean food is better in Los Angeles than in Korea, if you ever go there try it in Koreatown :)
@@sc33h3o3 I would say the some Korean foods are better in LA, not all. Plus the portions are bigger in the States which I appreciate.
@@notatallboi2735 I'm sure BTS are going to the better/ best restaurants. But they have probably tasted the best food in their country and for member Suga to have said it's much better in Los Angeles was like wow

I love Korea and Korean food. Spent almost 30 days in Busan and loved every minute of it.
Busan is a lovely place to live, except for the traffic😂😂
the reason hanwoo is hard to find outside korea is not only of lack of the marketing, but also that hanwoo is produced so little that even only in Korea, the supply is lower than the demand

I personally prefer hanwoo over wagyu it’s more to my tastes though wagyu is delicious as well. Also heard wagyu origin has hanwoo dna
Same me too I’m Korean so I have hanwoo like every month

The fact that Wagyu's DNA came from the Korean Peninsula does not mean that Wagyu's ancestors were Hanu. That means Wagyu and Hanu have the same ancestor, not hanu is origin of wagyu. In the first place, cow was came to Japan through the Korean Peninsula. Because in Japan, eating meat has been banned for over 1000 years, and eating meat has been allowed for less than 200 years.
Probably during the Japanese occupation in Korea, the Jap brought Hanwoo cow to main land island, mixing with their native cow and they gots Wagyu cow

I love how Korean meals are always diverse and full of veggies and banchan. Have been watching some of BEFRS old videos for nostalgia and oh my I'm just so glad and mesmerized by how much this channel has improved over time. Seeing Sonny trying bugs and Korean exotic seafood back in the old days and now the videos from both channels is just so satisfying. I appreciate each and every step along the way. You can buy "cow foot jelly" at basically any butcher (and even supermarket) in France and Belgium. Its usually made from pieces of the head and it was once considered a peasant dish because its relatively cheap . Fancier versions will be named "terrine"

the way they do ribs is amazing. i have to try that myself somehow! my family has mastered Brisket, we mastered steam fried pork, but i noticed ribs are never on the menu. We love our steak and our good thick cuts of meat, but the way the koreans cut their rib meat and pull it from the bone makes me think it would make an excellent cut for our roundhouse to smoke! i wish i could describe to you this cooking house but i promise you its unlike others. Maybe one day ill collab with a Doobie and Sonny and cook in my traditional native style with some flair!

I think saying we have the new wagyu is wrong, but I understand that you want people that doesn't know about hanwoo, learn about it.
Hanwoo is a Korean cow, it has nothing to do with wagyu. Korean beef is much better than Wagyu because ours have amazing marbling but it's not 80% fat like wagyu is.
So Korean beef, Hanwoo, is really really delicious and amazingly marbled. you can have a whole steak or even two, but good wagyu you can only have a few bites without feeling like puking.
Thanks for letting the world know about our beef ^^ I'm sure it will take the crown of #1 beef soon, cuz it IS better than Kobe (wagyu)

Hanwoo is likely to be the ancestor of Wagyu anyways so... Also Han-Woo just means Korean Cow, hence you cant have Hanwoo in other countries. They are in terms the same but fed different things.
The restaurant is called 거대갈비 (Enormous ribs), if you are in Busan wanting to try. There are 2 locations and I’d recommend going to this new location, shown in the video. Both are great for hanwoo experience. I usually take a bottle of malbec to enjoy beef there. Cheers for the authentic kbbq experience! 😆👍

LOVE KOREAN FOOD !!!!!!! NEVER GET TIRED OF IT SO MANY VARITIONS. KOREAN FOOD HAS FLAVOR FOR EVERYONE ~~~~~~~
I worked in Japan as a cook and lived in Kobe tried some of the most famous beef in Japan but I'll say good Korean Beef beats it all. except by the tenderness.
i've been to dozens of yakiniku in kyoto, osaka, machida, tokyo, shinokubo, ginza, etc and korean beef places in seoul, apgujeong, daegu, uijeongbu, pyeongtaek, etc and japan's presentation is always cleaner and a bit more refined. the meat is comparable but i prefer japan's slightly more. the only good thing about korea's kbbq culture is that it's cheaper
@@user-fx9vq7gf3j well yeah. its just obvious you would think that way. cuz korean bbq is not the food for high class for a looong time. and it was in our lives. whereas yakiniku is japanese adoption (japanese meat eating culture has been only about 200yrs widely spread to the citizen) of korean bbq to japanese style which is still foreign food they made it high to low class to match their own way. also japanese tend to like cleaner taste which more matches to global but since korean food eating with alot of banchan which almost contains jang(fermented soybean), core of korean food which tasted boost if you mixed either mouth inside or outside(ex.bibimbab) which can be overwhelming to foreign Platte. i wanna know what you like about thorough in japanese yakiniku tho. although i think place you have listed is not much matter since yakiniku is unlike ramen it doesnt get differ from region in japan whereas korea does. but i do agree japan also has cheap tabehodai style yakiniku (which almost always include chicken meat)to really expensive meat. I also wanna know how you think about meat characteristic of japanese meat since my point topic is the meat itself. I found wagyu itself has more fat contain ( case of top hanwoo vs wagyu ) so its tender but meat itself has little lack of flavor compare to hanwoo (hanwoo is tougher a little bit). well long description of my opinion since being procook move to a bits and different places for abt 20yrs makes me this way. waiting for your opinion.
