Hi! Thanks for the video. I too came here for the nature! What has been hardest for me is 1) the traffic where we live is really terrible (Wake Forest area); I've really been shocked at how difficult it is to get around here, and with things so spread out that is simple much harder than I thought it was going to be; 2) Yes, there are nice restaurants, but I'm having trouble finding high-quality mid-priced ake-out options (Thai, Chinese) which I wasn't expecting with a city of this size; 3) I wasn't expecting it to be cheaper than Maryland necessarily, but wow, some things seem to be more expensive (health care, some restaurants, etc). The first two seem hardest for me in terms of livability. Other things like the snakes, roaches don't bother me at all!

Thank you for your video. I like the way you communicate, that you are fair and objective. May I know where in Texas did you come from? If it was Houston, Austin, or Dallas, could you share how the job market compares between Raleigh and the Texas cities?

Just because you can't drive to good skiing if you live in Raleigh doesn't mean you can't just as easily get to it by going to RDU.

Right on. I fly into Colorado a lot. But rdu flight options are not always the best. And if someone is moving here thinking it actually snows every year I want them to have realistic expectations for sure

@@realtorbenjamincarver I'm just trying to put a positive spin on it. Because the places that actually snow on Christmas get a lot of snow. It's nice to just visit it

@@tomnorth1329 I agree. I hate North Hills.. Its not walkable.. not relaxing.. so many damn cars flying by.. so much traffic. You cant just take a stroll and what is there? Just a bunch of shops and some random eateries, with some bars. I dont see the point? I mean if you are into the mall experience then that place is for you. Basically you live in a mall. I am not into that. That is all North Hills is... A BIG MALL with apartment buildings sorrounding it..they threw in a hotel or two and a movie theatre. That is all it is. So if you into shopping and have the money to shop everyday then fine. I much prefer the old downtown.. nice and easy walkable place... for random strolls.. nice parks. If you must shop there is shopping among museums and theatres... lots of places to eat if you need to be eating out all the time. I like it..

The newer construction of homes are not as well made as the older homes.

If you hate it so much why are you still living in Raleigh. Stop hating on our community. NC and Raleigh is a fabulous state.

I agree, if you're going to buy new construction. Have a good and reputable inspector that is _not_ recommended by your realtor and builder (cuz conflict of interest lol) that will inspect your house from the foundation up to the roof.
Also get a good lawyer to help read over the contract & negotiate the terms to your favor. A LOT of NC builders have bs causes that will screw you if you don't read between the lines and don't do your multistage inspections.
Binge of youtube inspection videos and when the inspector does his inspections, be on-site with them if you can. To pairs of eyes are better than one.

The point of this video is to tell some honest negatives. I’m not here to “sell” anyone on our city or my services but to help with information and my perspective. I strongly encourage you to check out my other videos - it wouldn’t take much to see I genuinely love Raleigh and brag about it all the time 🤷🏼‍♂️
