This is a difficult song and Carly Rose really nails it brilliantly. There is another version by a girl a year or so younger than Carly Rose and recorded about 2 years ago or less. It is by a Bulgarian kid called TEREZA TODOROVA. Not as bluesy as Carly Rose's cover but very good non the less and remember Tereza sings it in English, which is not her spoken language, although I gather she is attending an English school, and in fact speaks a few languages. One last point Tereza's pop video's are only the tip of the iceberg, she also writes songs and is a concert standard classical pianist. (she recently appeared at Carnegie Hall)
I enjoyed your reaction to Carly Rose. I remember watching her compete and I still can't believe she didn't win. She did come in second but she should have won. Thank you for sharing Carly's talent.
One of my all time favorites. As mentioned before me, Carly took a break and concentrated on school for now but she has had gigs locally and regionally. I hope to see her back in the business soon. Her journey was amazing and I am still butthurt she didn't not win. She came in Second by a few hundredths of a percent. You will love her other songs. Especially her version of Over The Rainbow. One of my favorite music videos, on all of UA-cam. You should see (and hear) the unedited version, where you can hear the parts (at least as audio) that were cut out, for the broadcast version. She actually sings an additional ten seconds A Capella, at Simon's request, and also offers to show him her birth certificate, to prove that she really is only 13 years old. :-) :-)
Great audition, one of the best ever. I didn't see this until a year or two ago and watch it every couple of months. She apparently had been singing for several years before this and I believe had a role on Broadway for a while, which would explain her stage presence and confidence. I wondered what became of her, but I've heard she and her parents decided that she should finish school before pursuing a music career. She should be out of high school by now.
She graduated last school year, and is back. BTW, she was both young Eponine and young Collette in Les Miserables, and then was on Electric Company for a year, a bit of movies, what can't she do?

One of my all-time favorite auditions in these type of talent shows. I still can't believe she didn't win. Her voice is amazing, and her song selection was above par. Right up there with Brian Justin Crum's "Creep" in America's got Talent, and Haley Reinhart's "House of the Rising Sun" in American Idol.
I have been following the progress of these young performers for a couple of years or so now, and like you I simply enjoy seeing them mature, develop their acts and style and learn new techniques. Like you I am keeping a list and boy oh boy it is getting a very long list.
There is another copy of this out there labeled something like 'full clip' where they edited the video clips that were televised into the full sound recording, that included her doing an a Capella bit and more comments by the judges. Just kind of odd with a still image cut in with the audio but you can listen to everything that was said (and sung).
