You are a wonderful family. I envy you for enjoying Japan more than Japanese people. Please continue to enjoy Japan. I look forward to it.

I am so pleased that Xander is doing much better now. Having lived in Japan a couple of years, (many years ago) which was away from the bright lights of Shibuya, I think what you have experienced (so far) is very typical Japan. You have scored some great spots to park your van in near to Tokyo so far, and looking forward to where you venture away from Tokyo next.

Nagano on the west coast of Japan might be worth looking at. Definitely Nikko, 100 miles north of Tokyo. Look for the see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil monkeys in the frontal decoration of the Nikko Temple. I missed looking up. Nikko also has lots of lakes and waterfalls accessible with a campervan. Nara near Kyoto is also worth a look.

@@ChristopherJewels I definitely agree that a trip into Nikko and lake Chuzenji is a must if you are heading north of Tokyo.

Go for skipjack tuna if you can find in Japan as it is safer, and just be careful with unfrozen tuna of any kind there.

@@TheWickmansLife2024 Don't believe someone's advise who never lived in Japan. Store bought tunas are always safe in Japan. Virtually no report of food poisoning. Oyster, squids, mackerels and salmon that says "for cooking 加熱用" or do not say "for sashimi use 刺身用" on the packages can be slightly risky. We have accumulation of database since the samurai era. Even you don't check "for sashimi use 刺身用" they are usually cut in bite size slices and you can tell visually.

I really enjoyed the playground section. I'm a kid of the 60,70's I can tell the little girl liked the challenge. A women professor I believe in the 70's or earlier put out junk, nails, hammers. You know dangerous shit and a playground like nowadays and the kids flocked to the danger zone. I miss those days, you know when you fucked up and rang your bell you knew "I better not do that again....maybe!

Lol yep those are the days! Unfortunately Ariah had one of those days when we were in Australia. Knocked her front tooth out. Australia has unbelievable parks!

Tokyo has a population of 14m in the city and 39m in the greater metro area. More than half Australia's population (27m) could fit in the city. Crazy.
