I didn't expect Funny Playing to actually make an emulation console. I feel like if you're looking to upgrade your Gameboy screen it is a slightly different market. That's more for people who want a better experience on original hardware. If you're just looking for a budget emulation device with good hardware engineering I would say the Miyoo Mini Plus is good with a lot of customization. FPGA is it's own different beast in the best way.

No but at half the price of an Analogue Pocket I can see a lot of potential and better value. Especially for people who don't care as much for accuracy. I hope they get it right with a revision.

People put FPGA on a pedestal as if it's inherently superior to traditional software emulation. Newsflash: it is not. And especially for low spec, well documented machines like the game boy, fpga and traditional emus are all but the same.

Generally speaking, emulation on something like a PC is just as good (possibly better, since an FPGA can be poorly programmed, too) as FPGA emulation. Anyone that thinks they can tell the difference have fallen for the marketing. They're the people that bought snake oil, and insisted that it actually did work. For the past decade or so, software emulation has had a significantly increased focus on accuracy, resulting in emulation for most popular older consoles to be as near perfect as any FPGA based solution. Granted, FPGA has some other benefits (good for a handheld for instance, due to requiring less power to achieve the same results), but software emulation has its own perks (such as being much more affordable and widely available, resulting in a competitive market place). Frankly, if it weren't for the ability to play physical media (or if other companies actually bothered to themselves), there wouldn't be much reason to buy an Analogue product.
1gb ram. On Android for gaming just isn't great. I've seen these floating around the net. But waited for a review. Thanks for this. It has potential for sure. But it's got to compete against the Miyoo mini and even the Rgb353V. Even the Rgb353V is lacking on the Android side. Maybe one day they will get it right.
Looks fine to me. You don't like the box? Who gives a shit. For 99 bucks I get an emulator in a gbp shell which is exactly what I want. Now they just need to make a few more of them so I can actually get one.
Sure, the box isn't a big deal. But man this device is AWFUL. Great concept, terrible execution. I definitely recommend pretty much any other handheld. Thanks for watching!
