I think it’s a very brave thing to do for a woman to live her entire adult life alone. Because the easier option would be to marry just some one / any one and get through life. While I have seen few of my female friends genuinely happily married and being parents there are those who married for wrong reasons and are secretly living miserable lives. At some point even when your parents are no more or you don’t have close family / friends life can be quite lonely and then on top of it all here in SL the stigma and harassment can not be ignored. For a female to be 100% independent and live this way you need to be financially sound as well. Which they don’t teach us in school because the Norm is to get married and produce babies and be a good wife. I wish in school they taught us how to be independent how to chose a partner how to stay safe how to build a career path etc. some people are single by choice like Shanuki and that’s fantastic. But there are also women who are single by circumstance.. and that’s really sad. There are women who would dream of getting married and having kids but some times circumstances decide other wise. Some girls are lucky they find really good partners who go on to become great fathers and husbands but then there are some who just use you and abuse you and end up marrying some one else… so then what ? At these situations most girls opt not to date another person because of the shame and humiliation of not being a prize possession (virgin)

Very insightful conversation. We need to have more of these conversations as this backward culture and society specially in Sri Lanka have created such stigmatised and stereotyped environments for women that want to remain and commit to being single. Marriage is idolized to the point where being single is looked at as a disease. Sadly. I myself will never understand why Sri Lankans bother me with this horrendous question "Aren't you married?" Followed up by "WHY NOT!?". Our view of women and their liberation as a society is distorted to the degree, we just cannot digest the fact that, NOT EVERY WOMEN WANTS TO GET MARRIED!

Back in that time I was participated in program with group of doctors in SL, just before I go to Japan back in 2020, old lady doc gave me lecture why have to get married, she said I will need a bystander when I am sick when I am old. 😂😂😂 Right now I have Lupus and diagnosed just after I arrived to Ireland less than one month. I was at hospital all alone for ten days. Had rough time. Non of the doctors even said oho girl you should married 😂😂😂. When they wants to know am I sexually active they directly asked that. Marriage certificate is not the thing to judge the people sexually active or not. Sex and Marriage certificate don’t have any relevance.

    Good series.
The annoying music is a distraction, unfortunately.

It's so important for women and men who do not want or like children to be very clear about that aspect and refrain from having kids. Society is full of disgruntled parents who resent their children for having spoilt their carefree and self-invested lives. If you are not interested in monogomy or child rearing, for the love of God, refrain from both without putting innocent people through hell. More power to Shanuki for speaking up!

Would life get lonely if you start hitting 45? It worsens more the older you get.

Attraction is not a "reason" to marry and have kids.
