    I too have been bamboozled by the mousse wash n gos. Day 1 they typically look 🔥🔥 but then I wake up the next morning and it's *sad trombone noises*. Jessica Kiyomi and some other stylists have suggested that the mousse is supposed to go under the gel (so maybe gel --> mousse --> gel) but I'll have to experiment with that on a week where I actually don't care about the longevity of my results. You look great as always though!

    Your hair is very pretty. The owner of the Doux products specifically state that you are NOT supposed to use her products with other products. She has humectants in her products. Using other products with the same ingredients will change her products’ properties. Also, the first day that you wash your hair is day 1.

    I can so relate to you in these videos! The hour long detangling...hours of styling 😤 I can also relate to being upset when your hair does not turn out the way you want/like it. That's why I have to deal with the hours long wash and styling process, because I know my hair will turn out the way I like it. But I really do have to cut down the time, 4+ hours is just too long. I have very dry curly hair and need to try some moisturizing products underneath my gel, but I haven't found anything that works well with my gel. Your videos are inspiring. And sis, your curls are magnificent, and so bouncy and juicy, and so dense! Its natural curly hair magic 🤩

    • @BrittanyMia
      @BrittanyMia  2 роки тому +1

      Exactly! I would deal with it if I knew it would turn out the way I wanted each time. But, since starting UA-cam, I feel obligated to try new products, and while it’s entertaining, it’s a little irritating because I don’t know if my hair will turn out correctly. I feel the same about the gel. I benefited from using a cream underneath a gel, and Uncle funky‘s daughter's supercurl cream is still my favorite. I haven’t used it in months, but I will try it again and see how I like it at this length. Happy to hear that my videos inspire you. And thank you so much 💖

    That Doux big poppa gel has a very light hold. Putting that leave in also cut into the hold that it had. I use it for my man’s twist and upon applying, I knew it wouldn’t make a great wash and go 💯 But it’s good you tried something new appreciate what you use

    It wasnt "bad" but like you, I did notice the diffrence big time. You rocked it tho as well as you could. Totally understandable when things don't work like you want for you doo, it's "not quite right". Our hair likes what it likes and you know what works best.
    I hope the products you purchased and used can be salvaged somehow so you didnt waste your coin... maybe applied in a different order with alternate products to come out ? I'm not sure but if you find the solution way to go, I can't wait to see it. Maybe you can swap with someone or do like you said you may try instead.

      I'm going to try it again without the leave-in because it appears that may have messed up the results. However, either way it goes it'll be a no-go for me. I like to mix it up and try different combinations and according to the creator, it's only meant to be used on "productless hair" and that's not a gel i feel confident using without anything underneath it.

I may not be a foam girl in general, but this is the only one I've tried, so I won't write them all off. I tried Mousse Def and the Pop Lock glaze separately and together and my hair was so dry regardless of what I used, what application process, etc. And I felt like I got too much protein from the products. I sooooo wanted to like The Doux, but I think it's a no for me too 🙁

      I’m glad I’m not the only one who has experienced dryness with this brand. I really wanted to love it and support it as well, but black-owned or not, if it doesn’t work for me, I have to let it be✨

      If you're still wanting to try a mousse, I recommend either Nairobi or Design Essentials avocado - both are moisturizing and add hold. I apply the mousse and then a gel topper. I feel like a good foam/mousse coats each strand and adds softness and hold that the gel just punches up a notch 😊

      @@KDubs0320 You are the second person who has mentioned adding a moose before a gel topper. I’m going to have to give that a try, although I do feel quite reluctant, lol. I have also wanted to try Nairobi, and I just watched a video about the Design Essentials mousse. Thank you for the recommendations. What topper do you use over the mousse?

      I'm back to using the African Pride coconut and aloe gel - it's nice and thick, moisturizing and leaves a nice shine with no flaking. I had to go back to something I knew works for me after the fiasco that was the doux lol

    IME Big Poppa works better on damp hair not soaking wet hair.

    I'm with you. I tried Mousse Def exactly how the owner intended, and it made my hair so DRY!!

      Right! I can't be the only one like 👀 the dryness is brazy.

      Me too, I added a light oil to the ends. I definitely need a deeply moisturizing shampoo and conditioner. I now use a all purpose shampoo. How long does this process take?

    • @BrittanyMia
      @BrittanyMia  2 роки тому +1

      @@maverickmayhem6409 When I'm not recording, it takes me an hour and a half to shampoo, condition, and style my hair. Plus another hour/hour and a half to dry under the hooded dryer. All together about 3 hours.

    also I wanted to ask, and maybe anyone else who feels this way. Whenever I cut off my hair to start over i like the full/roundness thickness of my hair. But I feel as I gets longer the shape changes drastically

      This is also something that I have experienced and am experiencing currently. When I first cut my hair off, the curls were super springy and looked different than they now as my hair has grown. I’ve noticed that my hair is shorter in some sections or appears shorter in some areas because of the coil ratio. That’s also what’s hard about styling, especially trying different products, because depending on how it turns out, my hair can come out looking lopsided and uneven. Because I’m trying to grow my hair out, my stylist suggested that I wait to deal with that as it grows out because it’s not super pressing for me, and it depends on how I style my hair or what products I use but it’s mad annoying.

    That’s funny, I’m a dude but I take pride in my hair so when I do my curly fro and it’s either still white, or didn’t come out the way I wanted I get so mad cuz then I gotta twist it and put on a bandana to go to work lol

      Same! I cannot walk around with my hair looking off. It literally will ruin my entire day because of all the time I put into styling it. Looking at my hair like ‘how dare you, after I did alla Dat for you’ lmao mad mad.
