Good evening from Ireland 🇮🇪. Here's a little story from my time serving as a reservist in the Irish Army. Many times reservist soldiers like me were drafted in for security details whenever the regulars were short on personnel. These were typically 24 hour duties from 0900 to 0900. During the day there would be activities around the camp, vehicles coming and going, allowing access to the magazine where Arms and ordinance were stored etc. Of course the orderly officer and sergeant would also drop in periodically so you had to be alert(I was reprimanded by the sergeant as he caught me watching TV at one time). Anyway, around midnight things would quiet down, the orderly officer and sergeant would bugger off to bed......not together obviously 😉 😀!!! And then the quiet hours began. Not to do only patrol and essentially be alone in the dark of the slumbering base. We'd tell each other stories about ourselves and our service. One time, comrade told me of his experience doing a night duty in Collins Barracks, formerly the Royal Barracks in Dublin. This Barracks is very old, dating from 1701 I understand. It was the oldest working Barracks in Europe and possibly the world until decommissioned in the 1990s. Now preserved and the site of a great museum. Anyway, my comrade told me that one night, whilst on duty, he was patrolling and had the strongest sensation of being observed. He turned around and saw, maybe 100 feet of so behind him, a figure dressed in a British army uniform of the napoleonic era. He promptly messed his combat trousers and ran back to the guard room. I myself never encountered anything like that but night duties were definitely creepy. Anyway that's my story my friends. Kindest regards from Ireland 🇮🇪 ❤.

I’ve been stationed at fort Campbell going on 3 and a half years (MP) and as a part of my security checks, I have to drive through the ASP. Well one night during shift, I make my way to the ASP, and I can’t shake this knot in my gut.. like I know something is gonna happen. I shake it off, pull up to the guard shack and make small talk with guards on shift. A rather scrawny sgt tells me how unusually quiet it is tonight, and that how there isn’t even any crickets about. I notice the eerie silence as I roll my window down before I drive inside the asp and begin my patrol. About a half mile in I decide to pull over and have a smoke. I know, horrible idea, but I needed it after the night I was having and the events that would soon unfurl. I’m smoking my cigarette when I hear what sounds like tree branches snapping to the left of me, beyond the fenced in area. I pull out my trusty flashlight, but the beam doesn’t penetrate the wall of darkness beyond the fence, so I poke my head in my car and position my spotlight on my car and this thing blasts the area with light.. and what I saw I still cannot shake to this day. It looked like a deer at first… but I knew it wasn’t. It was too lanky, like the animal.. and I use that word loosely.. was starving. Cigarette in my mouth I can’t seem to break the staring contest me and this tbing are having, then what happened absolutely terrified me. The tbing moved slightly inside the tree line and got up on its hind legs. Knowing better than to keep pressing my luck, i dove inside my car and sped off back the way I came. I realized I still had my cigarette in my mouth and tossed it before coming back to the guard shack. Guys on guard duty saw I was shook and asked me what happened.. I couldn’t put into words what I saw.

I served with the 82nd ABN in the late eighties early nineties. 407th S&T Batt. We were in the field and had an interaction with opfor one evening. We had a parachute flare start a fire in the battalion area and so were looking out for other fires. My buddy and I saw a red glow on the other side of the drop zone we were at and decided we should walk across and see if it was another fire. Sicily DZ is pretty big and it was just getting dark when we headed out. We walked for what seemed like forever. It can be slow going on the soft sand of the drop zone. We finally saw that the glow was gone and so headed back to the battalion area. The issue was we started out just at dusk, about 6ish, never made it across the DZ which was about half a mile wide at that point and when we got back out was almost 2am. Everyone wondered where we had gone. I have no memory of what happened except walking in the sand and then heading back. It's always concerned me about what the glow was and what the hell happened for eight hours.

I am unfortunately just getting around to reading some of these comments. But wow. I know I've experienced "losses of time" due to concussion injuries. But that experience felt more like I was "leaping forward" in time. Because I would be getting up from the ground, and then I'm suddenly walking off the drop zone (hard parachute landing), or walking into my house (hit my head while ice skating).
But your experience is beyond freaky. Not unlike many abduction stories. Thanks for sharing this. I will definitely be sharing this in a future episode. Will have to find a place for it. An entire episode on "lost time" if I can find enough stories.
Xavier shared about his experience with lost time in the "*Was it all a Dream?*" episode on this channel. Other than that, I don't know if I've had too many similar type stories shared directly to me so far, but I believe a few have been shared with *Tales from the Gridsquare* by other veterans/servicemembers. I'm still reading through the book, but I swear I saw at least one in there. But he's got a lot more on his Instagram.
      Thanks Christian.

The moment I heard the username "six turning, four burning" I knew the guy was going to say he was in the air force. The B-36 Peacemaker was a massive strategic bomber from the 50s which was built with six piston engines. Eventually, later model would include four turbojet engines to increase speed, resulting in the phrase "six (piston engines) turning, four (turbojets) burning". It was the primary means of delivering America's nuclear arsenal until the B-52 was designed.

91B from Fort Sill here. that story about the lights that seemed to be "playing" reminded me of something we saw one time while on an FTX. Myself and my TC were sitting in our wrecker one night, i was playing online poker with a soldier in our 94P truck, and my TC was talking to our contact truck's drive on his side of the truck. They had been talking for a little bit, maybe 15 minutes, and the driver kept looking up and would furrow his brow and then shrug, before going back to talking. Now, I wasn't paying attention to the conversation, but I kept noticing him looking up again and again so i finally asked him what he was doing. so he steps up a little higher on the wreckers side steps and tells me to look up. I climbed up on the side of the truck, and looked up at what looked like your average starfield to me. so the Corporal points out one light, that he said was moving. when i finally spotted it, which in and of itself was a pain might i add, both of us proceeded to watch it. by now my TC and the 94P trucks crew were also looking, and sure enough, this one light seemed to be moving, in a roughly east to south west direction, in what we figured was an arc. after about five minutes of watching it (mechanics are very easy to amuse, so this was right up our alley) one of the soldiers who was new to the wrecker section, and was put on the Contact Truck, noticed another pair of moving lights to our north, much closer to the horizon. These two were moving much more quickly than the first, and seemed to zig zag back and forth across each other's paths every once in a while. we had by now chalked the first light up to a high level aircraft or maybe a drone of some kind, but these two were much more confusing. they moved at almost right angles when they would zig zag, which we figured would be impossible for most aircraft. we reported it, but were blown off and never got any real answers.

I’m not military but I’ve seen those lights also. It was 1978 and I was in art college for a summer semester in Lacoste France. Some nights the students would climb up onto a few flat roofs of the old houses that made up the small village that had been built up the side of the hill - Lacoste is the location of the Marquis de Sade’s castle ruins, and chat enjoying the cooler night air. There’s a valley below that spreads out to another higher level of hills. A beautiful night sky full of stars and then about 45 degrees above the far horizon a couple “stars”started moving. The way Mr Mooney (spelling?) in the video described this is accurate. Up, down, sideways, hovering. 2 or 3 of them. Then a group of 3 abreast that seemed to be coming towards us only to turn sharply, disappear, then reappear going the other way. No sound whatsoever. I can’t recall who I asked about them but I do remember being told that the lights were a regular occurrence and no one in the town thought anything about them.

@deborahpatton861 I've always wondered if they are some kind of natural phenomenon. We have a place where I'm from called Brown Mountain that has lights that act like what you saw, but they follow the mountainside instead of being up in the air. They will move seemingly at random, but they also move very slowly, maybe at a walking pace. To my knowledge, no one actually knows what causes it

A couple of my buddies decided to play with an Ouija (that fuckin ghost board idk how to spell it) board, the morning after they woke up to a handprint on his TV and sleep paralysis followed soon after. I’ve had my door almost knocked off it’s hinges after something almost kicked it in, in the small hallway between my kitchen and my room. Others in my company have seen “people” standing in the corner, later validated by their girlfriends. My battalion is extremely old, strange stories like this aren’t uncommon across the unit.

Did an NTC rotation not too long ago and while my platoon was off on a quick mission (more like a 2 hour lane) after the sun dropped, our 1SG saw someone walking in the flats under his thermals, about 200 meters outside our circle of trucks, coming from no particular direction and walking further into the box.
It was dead quiet so he called out to the guy and he stopped and looked at him. 1SG asked if he was okay, and needed any assistance. The guy said nothing and just looked his direction, before turning and walking further, into the dunes. It gave him a weird vibe the whole time and he told my PSG who told us about it when we were chilling in our truck later.
Nobody likes our first sausage but he's so by the book in box or garrison that nobody's heard him tell a far fetched story before, or any story really, so we kinda believe him.

We did an NTC rotation when I was at Ft. Campbell, and during one of the war game exercises there was a 1LT co-piloting a OH-58 scout helicopter and landed on a plateau overlooking one of the training areas where troops were staging; he'd landed in a slight depression. The LT stepped out helicopter to have a better look near the edge of the cliff (blades still turning); he stood there a minute then turned around to come back to the helo, but forgot to duck his head as he approached the helicopter and was decapitated by the blades. They called an immediate stand-down and all training ceased for light 2-3 hours until they determined what happened. We'd been up flying in a Blackhawk and landed immediately and just sat there waiting for the all-clear and then the pilots told us what happened.

I've commented on this before but now I come back with a new story. I'm still at Campbell.
2 months ago we had a brigade level training exercise. I'm a forward observer for field artillery, one night we were on an observation post ahead of the main line of troops, about 2 miles ahead of them. It was just 4 of us on the OP, we started i hear tree knocks, 2 separate sets, one coming from the west, and one coming from the east, 2 to 7 knocks a piece, and they were in response to eachother. After about 20 minutes it stopped. About 10 minutes later we heard a high pitched scream come from in front of us, fairly close, followed by a low, guttural howl to our left. Needless to say we were scared shitless. After that we heard something large moving through the woods. None of us slept that night.
Also, there are about 18 marked graves in the back 40 of Campbell and 2 confirmed native American burial sites.

So I'm currently with 2-320 FA BN, I live in these barracks. We've had 2 suicides since I've been here in October, one was a month before I got here. I heard stomping in the room above me around 01, which being in the barracks isn't super uncommon, but it went on long enough for me to go to the CQ NCO and report it, we went up to that room and he stopped. He said that nobody was in this room and they had found the soldier living there dead after a 4 day weekend. I still hear it on occasion. Another time on CQ I was laying on the couch my myself, the NCO and I split the 24 hour shift, him doing 0600-1800 and myself doing 1800-0600. It was around 0400, I was browsing social media trying to stay awake, a soldier wearing the older UCP pattern ACU's walked by the CQ desk, I could only see from the chest up, he took a left and walked towards the front doors and vending machines. A few minutes went by and I didn't hear the door open (it's pretty loud) or the vending machine and saw nobody walking back to the left or right hallway. I stood up and nobody was in the lobby area, gave me chills. I've lived on Campbell for 4 years as a teenager and this place has some eerie vibes at night

I only spent a little bit of time on the back-40 at Ft. Campbell and never saw anything unusual. Actually, I was a Blackhawk helicopter crewchief so spent most of my time flying over the reservation, and though I was always on the lookout for strange lights I never did see anything. However, when I was stationed down in Panama I got the crap scared out of me on a few occasions while pulling guard duty... I don't know if it was anything paranormal or just regular jungle sounds, but there were times I heard stuff I couldn't explain. Anyway there was this one incident I distinctly remember around 1988, where some other unit was pulling guard duty on the joint-forces ranges, training classrooms and ammo bunkers, that we all used down in panama. This was the lead-up to the conflict w/ Panama (Operation Just Cause) and there'd been a few incursions into our training areas, so tensions were a little high; they were actually issuing us live ammo on guard duty and on some of the missions we were flying. In any case a female soldier was posted on guard duty at the training facilities/classrooms we used out by the ranges. This was actually one of the least creepy/remote areas as it wasn't too far (maybe a mile) from the main guard shack where everyone bunked for the night waiting for their shift to start. It was already dark when her shift began and she was supposed to walk around the classroom buildings, which were all closed, and make sure no one was vandalizing them or trying to break in. Again, this a good 15 miles outside of town and the main bases (Howard AFB/Ft. Kobe), and was located alongside the Panama canal (you could see tall ships cruising by less than a 1/4 mile away on occasion, which was kind of cool). Near the classroom facility there was a plateau that rose up maybe 100 feet, and the plateau area was about the size of two football fields and used for field training exercises and helicopter LZs, and the plateau area itself was about a 1/4 mile away from the classroom buildings. Anyhow, the story Top (1SG) told us was that she reported someone was throwing small rocks in her direction; I don't think she actually saw anyone at that point, but called in the unusual activity back into the guard house. Not sure what Sgt. of the Guard's response was, but then a little while later she called again and said there were lights appearing on the top of the hill/plateau and they were coming in her direction and was requesting backup; she seemed scared/panicked at this point. Now if there would have been an FTX going on on the plateau, they would have notified all the guards in the area, and this did happened once when I pulled guard there, so its safe to say there were no pre-planned training exercises going on that night. Next thing the main guard house hears is shots being fired and by the time they reach her post she's in a total state of shock, crying hysterically saying that the lights came down the hill and were surrounding her, and that's when she emptied her weapon. She was inconsolable and they had to take her to the Gorgas Army hospital in Panama city. Her state of shock worsened the next morning and they ended up flying her out of country that day, and relieved her entire unit from guard duty. That's when our unit was notified and called up to takeover the weekend guard-duty shift. As I recall we had no further incidents that night or into the morning... except for the occasional ghostly figures I'd see running across one of the 1k meter range, but that was par for the course out there. Anyway I never learned of any additional details from that incident, but I thought it was unusual and figured she must of seen something. Air Assault!

I heard you read a comment about German POWs, and remembered finding something out in the middle of the woods at Fort Gordon in 2006. Went exploring off of a back road in a non active part of the base, and came to a small clearing that had a few rows of tombstones, all with German names and ranks, and even one Italian soldier. The unsettling thing above the other details of location and that they were even there, were all of their death dates were within 2 or 3 days of each other just after the war ended. There didn't seem to be any other defining aspects to the area, it was just a clearing, no old buildings or any other sign that this was where they were actually housed.

It’s crazy bro..I listen to BS intently and never thought the world would be so small. What I mean is, I listened to your monologue after the last video and never in a million years would I have thought I would have such an identical background as you. I retired from the Marine Corps in 2014 after 22 years. My best deployment occurred in July of 2003. My platoon was selected instead of going to Iraq as part of the “first push” we were sent to joint base in Honduras called, Soto Cano Air Base. It was an “unauthorized deployment” due to the nature of our business there. Similar to the members you spoke about in the story being there in the late 80’s, my platoon was tasked with training Honduran SF in Communications and Tactics in preparation for there deployment to Iraq. We also had a SEAL attached to our team who trained selected members of the SF guys there in Combatant Diver tactics and also donated a shit ton of new UBA gear to them. During our time in Honduras (7 months) I witnessed some strange shit as well and to this day, scratch my head thinking about the possibilities of what I heard and saw. Anyways, just thought I would reach out and share the similar background. Semper Fidelis, Brother!

Camp Douglas at my alma mater the U of Utah has the graves of not only WWII German, Italian and one Japanese POWs, but also a mass grave of German WWI POWs. In fact, a few years ago the local German-American society raised money for a new monument to mark the gravesite. And more recently, there was a minor controversy surrounding something I'd always wondered about: on of the German graves from WWII isn't marked by the standard, white US military headstone, but by a big, black, custom granite piece. Obviously, the German sergeant's men thought enough of him to raise money for the marker. The controversy came from the fact that engraved on the marker there is about a quarter-inch swastika, which isn't surprising given that the guy died in 1944. Somehow, no one who cared enough to make a fuss has noticed that little adornment, and there was a call to have the headstone replaced. That seemed like a major overreaction to me--it's a little engraving that could be removed in five min with a dremel tool and the right attachment. I don't know what happened with the "controversy," but as far as I know, the marker was not removed.

I was in the Navy from 1986 to 1998. This event happened on March 31st 1997, the night before we set sail on westpac, a six month deployment. The USS Constellation was docked in San Diego. My girlfriend and I were spending my last night ashore, visiting family in Palm Springs. We left Palm Springs around midnight heading for the ship. It was a clear night and there was almost no traffic. Somewhere between cities we saw lights in the sky. They we white lights in triangular patterns. The craft was black and not visible. It was the lack of the starry night that defined it. I pulled over and we watched it for about 10 or 15 minutes. It was massive and move slowly and silently across the sky.
I was an aircraft mechanic in the Navy. I had worked the flight deck at night for many deployments at that time. I know what aircraft look like and sound like in the night sky. This was an unidentified flying object like nothing I had ever seen in the military or otherwise.

The back 40 at Campbell always gave me the creeps at night, the roads out there are endless and they take you to some weird spots. Though I never saw anything while I was there, it wouldn’t surprise me one bit if these stories are in fact 100% true. Also as a side note I’ve heard a lot of stories about LBL (Land between the Lakes). Our Battalion had a few Mandatory fun days out there. Didn’t know it at the time but apparently that place is full of stories of creepy stuff.

Just a comment on the German POW graves... Many would be surprised, but I have seen the graves of MANY German POWs and actual troops...
Two of the best examples I can give are World War 1 and 2 German POWs buried in Chattanooga National Cemetery. Apparently a great many of the WW1 pows died during the Spanish Flu outbreak before they could be repatriated... Most POW's were disinterred from various POW camps within a few hundred miles and relocated to Chattanooga...
The next that is even more wild is the National Cemetery Annex in Hampton Virginia not far from the famous Civil War Ironclad Battle site of Hampton Roads...
There are roughly 55 Germans buried there, some POW's, the others, bodies recovered from the sinking of German U boats... They were recovered from the sinking of U-85 and U-701 off Cape Hatteras, and quietly buried in the middle of the night, so the local citizens wouldn't become hysterical over how close the war was was being fought just off our shores...
Interesting side note, near Hatteras lighthouse and on Okracoke Island in the Outer Banks are buried several British sailors whose bodies washed ashore after their ships were sunk by German U-boats

      Hey Bill,
I apologize that my response to your comment is four months after the fact, but I was an 11B stationed at Ft. Lewis from 2005-2008. Although, nothing paranormal ever happened to me we did spend lot of time in the field and it could get very creepy. At guard at night or pulling a guard detail at the ammo point always weirded me out. We were told that there were several Native American burial grounds scattered throughout the expansive training area we were always in, which did a great job of freaking people out. I had knee reconstruction and did a lot of physical therapy at Madigan and never felt any strange vibes but wouldn’t at all be surprised if it was incredibly haunted considering the number of service members that have passed away there after returning from battlefields throughout the world.
I would love to hear about your experiences on Ft. Lewis!
Completely different topic, I don’t know when were there but did you ever go to the Schooner in Tacoma? Good times.
Thanks Luke for your amazing work and service to this great country we all love and thank you, fellow veterans, for your service and sacrifice. God Bless and God Bless the United States.

I’m in the Sea Cadets, and I haven’t been to any trainings besides recruit training yet, but night watches are freaky as hell. I went to RT in Fort Custer, MI. The barracks weren’t too bad, and they certainly weren’t haunted.
I would say the more “freaky” part was the random bumps, clangs, etc in the night. I had the better hand writing so I was using sentry writing in the deck log, I did not get to investigate anything but all those bumps were nothing.
    Still, it was very freaky.

I was at Pope '92-'96 ( The 23rd Wing Flying Tiger era). One night a crewchief and myself were manually defueling a "crashed" EC-135, He started telling me ghost stories: He said at pump house #1 he noticed a man walking in and then went into the tool room but never came out, just vanished. He told me a few other spooky stories about Pope. And then, later when the unfortunate mishap occurred when a F-16D crashed killing 19+ paratroopers, one of the buildings there was used as a temporary morgue. That building became haunted, strange lights and sounds in the building. The nosedock I worked in was spooky too, strange sounds at night. A buddy I worked with had several ghost stories about the hangar he worked in at Spangdahlem, AB.

I was about 13 years old, living on a beef farm, in the dark one night. I was home alone and had just climbed from the bath. I heard this horrific 'scream!' It was like a woman screaming for her life! Or some monster!!
I ran butt naked up to my room and grabbed my BB gun. I was ready to shoot whatever it was square between the eyes, if it showed itself.
Only later I learned that a mountain lion makes such a sound, when they are looking for some 'companionship.'
But then, I was alone with a mountain lion outside the house!
Even that thought was bone chilling. And my BB gun seems so useless...

Nothing supernatural about this, but just funny as hell, and related. I worked as a deck officer on a merchant ship chartered by the US Transcom to carry USAF ammo. We were based at saipan (anchored off shore), and our job was to supply the USAF with ammo if NK decided to do something stupid. Well, we had Nepalese security guards onboard, retired Gurkhas, and these guys were good. As second mate, I had the 00-0800 watch. From midnight to about 0600, one Gurkha and I were the only two usually awake. I would make hourly rounds of the ship, and being a good round maker, I would vary the time and route I took. At some point on EVERY round, I would feel a presence, turn around, and my gurhka partner would be standing behind me, grinning. EVERY DAMN TIME, EVERY NIGHT!

I was on the roving watch one duty day and when I came up outside the lounge, I heard the TV on. I opened up the door, flipped on the light and said "Hey, it's after Taps!" To an empty lounge with the TV off. Weird. I shut out the lights, shut the door to the lounge, and as I glance back, I see through the little window that the damn TV is now on again. Open door. TV off. Close the door, stare at the powered off TV. Nothing. Start to walk away, and what do I hear but the TV again! It got to the point I stopped checking. Didn't care if anyone was in the lounge or not.

Prior experience not required. Valid driver's license a must. MGRS expertise and radio etiquette knowledge preferred.
Hearing those Sea Cadet experiences reminded me of the time my parents packed me off to a church retreat when I was a youngster. Spent two days at a big spooky old church and academy down in Princeton NJ, and the night in between was like a big slumber party in a library. The boys and girls were kept segregated and a couple of nuns tried to enforce a curfew. I couldn't sleep because it was an unfamiliar place and kept catching shadows flitting across the open doorway to the dorm room out of the corner of my eye. This was the middle of the night so all of the other children were asleep, and the adults as well. I got up to investigate, looked up and down the darkened hall and caught a glimpse of one of those shadows running down a perpendicular hall. I kept trying to follow, never caught up to it, but I basically gave myself a midnight tour of the whole facility.
