Nah when I landed a hit on the 2nd one I took out his controls so he couldn't pull up. Think they were trying to practice some co-ordinated flying as well which is a hard thing to focus on alongside doing everything else.
In fairness I could have tried pulling away as well, but headon shots are the best chance you're going to get to survive as a Hind in these situations typically.
