I was up there recently, doing Sutton (London) to Little Sutton on the Wirral. I went to Crewe, then to Chester on a 197 then Merseraoil to Hootem, Little Sutton and Ellesmere Port.
Thankfully the dogbox was only from Chester to Crewe 🤣. 06:23 the viaduct between Frodsham and Runcorn East is spectacular, I keep meaning to photograph it and perhaps make a video about it. It's frustrating that the Northern services only call infrequently at Frodsham and Helsby.
Good video again Simon! Have good memories of using the line on the way to North Wales for holidays many years ago. It's a very scenic, semi rural line, with a touch of being old fashioned. Always good to depart Wazza Wankey and see what's happening in Warrington yard. 👍🙂
brilliantthe only time ive ridden that line was in 2018 when i travelled between Warrington & Chester and that is a lovely line to ride and im loving Helsby which dose look like a lovely station ill have to see if i can pop to that station in the future & im loving the 197s & nice to see a 175 still on that route brilliant vlog
Great vlog Simon. This line between Chester and Warrington sure does look stunning and I might consider visiting it at some point. I enjoyed watching as always.
Great video - some good points of interest on this line. Interesting the TfW seems to manage a number of stations outside Wales. I had a look re the ticket office at Runcorn East - it’s open in the mornings apparently.
Agreed it is a bit underrated and There are Sprinters on that line as I travelled on one to Liverpool from Chester earlier this year thank you! Still it's great to see each station has it's unique characteristics of somekind :) COUNTS WITH TICO To Be Honest: 2 Superior 153 Dogbox Super Sprinters: 2 197 Civitys: 8 Superior Sprinter Thrash: 1 Crewe Heritage Centre: 1 Superior 156 Super Sprinters: 1 195 Civitys: 9 175 Coradias: 2 175 Fire Jokes: lol Marshmellows: 1 Pub glass: 2 Packet of Crisps: 1 Tones: 3 66 Sheds: 1 37 Tractor: 1
Wondered why I couldn't see someone else's comment that I haven't responded to yet.... Don't think it 'disappeared' think this happened once with GLovesTrains's video that they disappeared but might come back a day or two, guessing it a glitch from UA-cam
UPDATE! This is my fault that the comment got removed but had no idea when did it at the time. Yesterday at 4pm I change the video from unlisted to schedule, Was doing some recording with my brother for the Gaming channel and would be finished after 5pm so the video would had got uploaded automatically. However since I did that, it removed the comments made when the video was unlisted and sadly think they have been lost. Apologises Ian and Sarah that your comments got removed when it was in early access.
Totally agree there's plenty to see on the route, shame you had to put up with 197s for the day. I find their seats are as bad as the 195s - far too hard, nothing wrong with the 158s and 175s.
Most of the trips I was sitting down, expect for the last part as I was standing between Runcorn East and Warrington Bank Quay but honestly didn't mind, to busy eating my sandwich 🤣 Thanks Kevin
So I’ll have go on that route simply to go through Sutton Tunnel. Thanks for another inspirational video SoT

Great video Simon
I hope you are going to the Bluebell railway there is a gala weekend on this weekend
I won't be sadly
I'd love to travel on this railway one day. Thank you for sharing your time at the line's stations Simon. 🙂
Great video Simon! 🙂
Brilliant video Cyber, I've never been on that line before, some of the stations do look lovely. :)

If TfW are to replace the Class 153 and Class 175 then I do think that they should go to GWR, ScotRail or Northern.
A brilliant video Simon. Chester is a nice station
The line looks like a great line to travel down, has a bit of everything and the 197s are starting to be more dormant. Another great video Simon 👍🏻
What a great video!! Well done!! Looking head on I find that the new DMUs 197 look like hornets or wasps. Just paint them black & yellow.
Good video again Simon!

Scenic, semi rural and old fashioned, that the best way to discribe it 👍🏻Thanks Ian R
