I’ve watched many tributes to Angela Lansbury since her passing, but this is the one that really got to me… I’m still weeping. Gosh, but she was truly wonderful.
"You came, you saw, you conquered and absolutely nothing is the same. Your special fascination'll prove to be inspirational, we think you're just sensational, Mame...Mame...Mame...Mame...Mame!!!"
The Kennedy Center Honors have been one of the best ways ever of letting these living legends and national treasures know just how much they are loved and appreciated while they are still with us.
Was just thinking that same thing as I watched this poignant salute to this grande dame. Seeing a Broadway show was always a rare but glorious treat for me as a young woman. Got to see Ms. Lansbury and Len Cariou in Sweeny Todd. Play was perverse; they were sublime. Such versatility. From teenager to senior, she did it all. Lucky us!
@@kelsey1467 I honestly don't know. But Angela made the part her own. There was a difference between Jessica in the beginning of the pilot vs the woman we'd come to know and love. That's because of Angela's input. I'm not sure if Jean Stapleton would've done the same. She may have played Jessica and an annoying busy body.
I've been so lucky to have seen many Broadway legends live, but alas, I never got the opportunity to see Angela Lansbury. And yet, I'm still aware of what a powerful force she was on stage. AND on film. I hate the tributes that say "best known for 'Murder She Wrote.'" To be sure, she was good in it - because she couldn't possibly be anything else - but it's the work she was least proud of.
I grew up on Bedknobs & National Velvet. Angela Lansbury was just as influential on my childhood as Julie Andrews. I fell in love with her again in Sweeney Todd & Murder. My heart is absolutely shattered.
I was determined to get an autographed photograph. I am so thankful to receive one about two years ago, and I will treasure it always. She was SOME fine lady!!!
Rest in peace, legend! Your mark in art and culture will forever be cherished! ❤️❤️
Her humility brought her to tears. An amazing actress, kind hearted soul. May she rest in peace
Thank you for sharing your gift with the World.
Rest In Peace Sister.

I am still upset and sad still crying 😭💔💔
Rest In Peace Dame Angela Lansbury, I miss you. 🙏🌹
What a great lady. A woman of grace and dignity, unfortunately traits that are so rare these days. She will be sorely missed.

It's odd how these lines, although so upbeat, work so well as a posthumous tribute.
"The best of times is now
What's left of Summer
But a faded rose?
The best of times is now
As for tomorrow, well, who knows?
Who knows? Who knows?"
My love will never cease, Dame Angela.
Age is not a barrier to glorify God's name, extraordinary
