    actually Alamut was a fortress of real life assassin's known as Nizārī Ismāʿīliyyah and their mentor and bellived founder was Hasan ibn Sabbah know as well as Elder from mountains But they didnt worked the same way like its in the game they were drug addicts who killed from the shadows yes but their goal was to kill and wait until they come for them and kill them and if someone flee and went back to castle was exeuted due to staying allive it all comes to Islam and they were a sect and extreme one.

      you are right for the most part except 2 things, they weren't drug addicts and they did not have to stay they could return but it was encouraged to make a spectacle of the murder to spread fear, the drug addiction and suicide idea comes from the people who wanted to discredit them, they were horrible people regardless but these 2 ideas are wrong and mainly based in that period's propaganda.
