This seems super cool, like a less rogue-inspired, more action-focused Barony. I'd love to see a level creator so people could build their own old-school megadungeons, slap Undermountain in this thing.
The visuals remind me of mid-90s pre-rendered cutscenes without all the crust. I like it.

Watching Grimbeard is like taking your mind meds and a pain pill. It's dark, funny, all is right and you feel like death's little brother Justin who is all about life and 420 just rubbed you down in sensual oils mixed with Vicks and codeine. But the coffee you swallowed the meds with has you cruising out of sleeps range.

There is an upcoming game called Monomyth which is a good modern version of Arx Fatalis. Demo is on Steam.

So the ultimate Grim game would be you play as a rat, and you can kick things with your little rat feet, and you go through people's personal stuff. So just a rat simulator basically.
I've wanted a game like this for a while. I want more first person dungeon crawlers.
In the same way that all animals eventually evolve into crabs all game development will eventually lead back to Arx Fatalis.
And I think that's beautiful.
just wanted to say thank you for your work. had to paint a lot of miniatures for a campaign, and had all your reviews on repeat while doing so. made the "work" a lot less boring :-)

In fact the game was developed with Thief 1 as one of the main references. The game already has stealth mechanics but most of them (like hiding in shadows) are currently disabled because I am focusing on the core gameplay. I don't know if I will be able to put them back before release, but this is something that will be there for next content or next game.
