The grafted faces onto models reminds me a little of the fucking eerily uncanny photo melding of the ps2 siren games’ characters- ooh that stuff was spooky. Great video as ever.
It reminds me of Die Hard Trilogy for the PSX. I played it a loooong time ago, but I think I saw something similar there. It looked incredibly weird, especially on those early low poly models.
@@Ohio.Gozaimasu They were made out of flat 2d sprites so the models were incredibly weird in that game. EDIT: Each joint of the character was a separate 2d sprite I mean.
Mark here (the character and the developer) -- thanks for playing our demo. Sean and I absolutely lost it watching this, absolutely the funniest commentary we've seen in a long time. I'm glad you enjoyed it and that it resonated with you, the editing choices in this video are so absolutely grade-A, up my alley.

I'm old enough to get the reference......I had two MAD magazines when I was a kid. Reread them several times. Was different than anything else I ever read.
I remember Spy vs Spy because there was a NES game that my friend and I used to play. Plus they would show Spy vs Spy animated shorts on Mad TV. Now I feel old.

I'm surprised demos are still even being released. I thought the industry wanted to kill them off because people can try a game without paying.
The characters look like the old face scanning tech they had in sports games.

I'm really gelling with the art style. It works for me. It gives me a strange Scanner Darkly vibe (the ant farm sounds like its similar too).
I'm currently suffering through a bout of COVID - the 2nd time - and the combination of the odd visuals of this game plus Grim's narration is burning into my brain. It's wild, man.
While I'm at it - Grim, would love to see you do Arcanum. One of the more formative games of my childhood. Played it alongside Fallout 1 & 2 as a... 9 year old or something. Arcanum is freakin' weird, even in comparison to Fallout.

I think this is my favorite graphics style. Give me a smooth running game that look like this and I’m happy. I hope you do follow ups on these games before release.

Bruh, did you skip MadTV in the 90's? Will Sasso, Bobby Lee, Alex Borstein, mother fucking Phil Lamarr??? Spy v. Spy was mixed in there but yeah, that's cool, I don't really remember the Mountain Dew commercials.
I thought that the picking up trash part was it's Fire watch inspiration.. And yeah. that ending pissed me off too.. I mean- missing teens, mysterious monitoring station in the forest, dead kid, creepy hideout, oh man oh man, how are they gonna tie it all together?! Oh, that's how.. So the books meant nothing? And that's.. all? Gotta say the expectations were best part of the game.. But this looks great, kind of like Gabriel Knight 3, but using the style to it's advantage this time.
The talking animation is a bit off putting for me. Not a deal breaker but just hits me weird. Curious to see where the story goes. I'm predicting one of them is dead. Possibly suicide looking at the stepladder. Overall looks promising.

check out the ps2 game Siren not only made by the guy who made Silent Hill 1 but also it uses the real life faces textured over a player model like in this game also its really good.

I found 10 Dead Doves to be supremely engaging in concept and almost fantastically executed... except for the writing. I can't tell if it's attempting to evoke the otherworldliness of poorly translated PS1 games with VAs doing their hardest to sell bizarre dialogue choices, or if it's trying to sound *hip* like Life is Strange (which seems a similar case that with the dialogue there being a French developers' take on how American teenagers speak), or if this is the toxic influence of Justin Roiland at play - but speaking solely in abrasive non sequiturs is thoroughly exhausting. It's a real shame, but this is a hard miss for me.
Thanks for the feedback! Most of the banter dialogue was done on the fly in the booth, and we'll have to stick to our guns on that -- but the looser style tightens up a bit as the game progresses. There's a clip on Twitter if you're interested in seeing a scene from later in the campaign.
