Washington Huskies finished undefeated that year! Would they have beaten Miami? They beat Miami in Miami in 1994, which ended Miami's 58 game home winning streak. They also handed Miami their only loss in 2000!
I think UW would have beaten Miami in 1991, UW went into nebraska and beat the huskers by 15 and beat a much better Michigan team in the rose bowl 34-14.
I think they would have beaten Miami convincingly. Torretta didn't fare too well against Bama's high-pressure defense the following year, and UW's defense in '91 was even better and more high-pressure than '92 Bama's. Plus, UW had a loaded offense.

A game that took place a decade after 1991 has about as much bearing on who was better in 91 as does a game played in 2000 or even say a game played in 1994 at the orange bowl...................

It's amazing, watching Nebraska from 1988-1992, as they dominated their conference, but when competing against Miami or Florida State in those years, they looked very beatable. Then, with their 18-16 loss to FSU in 1993 following an 11-0 season, they flipped the script and added speed to that imposing offensive line, and the rest is history, as they really dominated the remainder of the 1990's!

Pretty disappointing matchup. Miami couldn't play Washington at the time, but why not have them play Florida in the Sugar Bowl? Would have been a more exciting game. Also seems cheap to let them play on their home field in a bowl game like this.
Yep and in 1994 we were deprived of seeing Nebraska play Penn state, the top 2 teams in the nation. After the debacles of 1990, this year and 1993, Extremely disapointing!
Florida got waxed by a bad ND team in that sugar bowl that they did play. They wanted no part of Miami that year. Typical soft Spurrier team back then.
