    Hundreds of meters below the surface lurks a predator older than the dinosaurs and bigger on average than the great white. This is the story of a group of scientists who came together to achieve the unthinkable: tagging the cryptic bluntnose sixgill #shark in its natural environment using a submarine.
    This is a product of One Big Wave, produced by #OceanX in partnership with the Moore Charitable Foundation and the Bloomberg Philanthropies Vibrant Oceans Initiative.
    Research by the Cape Eleuthera Institute and Florida State University Coastal & Marine Lab.

    So awesome I'm crying years of pure joy...I wanted to be a Marine Biologist but didn't think I was smart enough... Plus we couldn't afford college... Time went by and passed me by... Now I'm 58 yrs old and have 3rd stage Cancer.... Sitting here watching what I would have loved to do, but watching thru videos....So you youngsters out there I say to you... Go to college! Don't let anything get in the way of your dreams... Stay tough stay strong, in the end you will be so glad and so proud of yourself! Keep exploring ocean x! ♥️

    WOW, that huge female shark looked RIGHT at the scientists in the submarine... I can't even imagine how amazing it must be to have an animal that massive, that mysterious, staring right at you from like, a foot away. In it's natural habitat. Which is the very bottom of the deep sea. I'd forget how to breathe, too.

    My God, that EYE! What an incredible feeling to stare back at something that few others have seen....something so ancient and unknown that it seems to almost have mystical qualities about it. These people have the best jobs in the world!!! I'd love to be able to do what they do...I've dreamed of being a marine biologist scientist and doing deep-sea expeditions since I was a little girl.

    I've seen other UA-cam channels take the footage of the shark looking into the sub and try to frame it as a surprise attack from a previously unrecorded species. They clipped out any and all context and tried to also claim that the scientists who were filming had absolutely no idea what kind of shark they saw. Glad I finally found the source material and now know the truth.

    Are the submarines used by your company designed and built by OceanX? I am near to completing my bachelors degree in mechanical and aerospace engineering. What sort of things should I be adding to my resume to be able to get noticed by a company such as OceanX or Triton Submarines?

    • @OceanX
      @OceanX  5 років тому +6

      They're designed and built by Triton. So marine engineering with a focus on undersea or exploration vehicles would be a good direction, although a number of our sub pilots actually are engineers from the Army and Navy.

    Did any of you operating this vessel or doing these studies start your education at Scripts Institute of Oceanography in San Diego California? Just interested in where you studied your educations from?? Trying to get my kids interested in exploring the worlds oceans. Thank you for your dedication to our survival.
