That must be scary when two of the elephants get into an altercation. Timisa is getting so big and beautiful, and I love to see her and Khanyisa together and the love they show to each other. I watch every video and it is Aline's fault because I am now hooked on elephants! A big hello to all the Carers.

Oh what an amazing sight it is to see the whole herd on the move through the beautiful green oasis that the land has transformed into thanks to the rain nature is good at providing wonderful bounty for all the wildlife that call the reserve home. Oh Bubi it’s unfortunate that the injury occurred but just as with humans there are disagreements and Mambo is doing what young bulls do testing boundaries and coming into his own. It’s a relief that beautiful Bubi is healing well thanks to some devoted TLC from the team;elephants are such resilient creatures and their ability to bounce back never ceases to amaze me. Thank you for this lovely afternoon video the Jabulani herd only gets the best care possible Khanyisa Bravheart spending quality time with Timi never fails to melt my heart.🐘💚🌳

I’d say Mambo would be a great candidate to be wilded. He’s maturing, getting aggressive and now causing an injury on beautiful Bubi.
He’ll probably hear the call of nature one day, wander off and not return. Baby K is learning from these incidents.

I guess Mambo remembers all those times Mama Bubi intervened when he was being too dominating with son Zindoga. I can just hear him saying at the time, “I was just playiiiiinnnggggg….” And Bubi glaring at his mother, thinking, “No, you’re a little bully is what you are.” And, Lundi over there thinking, “That boy runs me ragged, I’ve got to have a break sometimes.”

My prayers for BubI and I pray the wound is not too severe too and that she will be alright and heal too. I definitely know that she is most certainly in best hands with Adine and the Doctor whoever it is taking care of her too.🙏🏻🙏🏻🐘❤️ I have to say that it always breaks my heart when one of your elephants get injured and I still worry about Jabu when he got injured by Mambo too I believe but again, I do know that he will b just fine also and same with Fishon too. I just absolutely love those two Bulls so much and yes, I do worry about them a lot. I even also worry about our little girl Pinky Khanyisa too even though she is definitely always being watched over by her HERD elephant family and also Adine and the Carers too. Thoughts and prayers for the HERD elephants and I love all of them and even the naughty Mambo too. It seems funny to me here in Oregon that summer is your wet season and winter is dry. It's just the opposite here. It makes me happy to see the bush greening up, and I hope you have some good rains to fill up all the dams.

I am sorry that Bubi was injured, but I imagined that this type of thing doesn't happen too often with this herd, especially since (as I understand it) male elephants after a certain age are not with the females much except for breeding, which these elephants are not doing. Bubi is fortunate to have such good caregivers!
Mambo sure can really be a trouble maker. I do hope there aren’t more injuries from his antics as he grows & matures.

Mambo sometimes seems like a young male who needs to be in the wild, but I know the wild herds didn't accept him when he tried. I'm neither male nor young, but I understand that need to just DO things, to be able to explore and go places, from my younger days. I sometimes worry about what will happen as he gets older.

You are not wrong. Mambo will if any of hem do, be the one who does wonder off, and one day he will not trturn.

I feel so bad for Bubi 🐘. She is a wonderful allo-mother and a very nervous elephant 🐘at heart. I am so glad she is ok. Thank you Owen for looking after her wound. Mambo is being such a bad boy lately. I realize they are still wild animals but is there anything that can be done to keep him from beating up on the other elephants 🐘 especially the female's? Khaynisa 🐘 is growing like a weed and is a beautiful little ellie. Timisa has such soft eyes. I just love watching this amazing HERD of elephants 🐘 walking in the bush, they are so majestic. This is the first time I’ve seen the 2 carers in front. I was wondering how you lead the elephants…and then it sounds like 2 on each side and2 in back. The elephants seem so well behaved… they must have great respect for the carers. That was a really interesting video and thank you for including the subtitles.. they are always interesting !!

I love hearing each ones stories, seeing their different personalities and how they interact with all of you and each other. The love between you all is so evident. They are magnificent creatures and mankind can learn so much from just observing how they live!

Adine can we have an update on Fishan please. It looks like his leg is giving him more trouble or worsening. He seems to have more pressure wounds too on the same bad leg. Perhaps his sand mound bedding needs to be made higher to support him better as his leg is giving him trouble?? I do worry about him.💝🐘💝

As always, a relaxing way to spend my morning after a couple of busy days, watching the gorgeous Herd make their way through the bush.
Learn something new every day, had no idea young bulls challenged their mothers. Poor Bubi, thank heavens the wound is small and healing well.
My new favourite word, 'padkos' - I'm all for padkos! And pretty Pisa obviously noticed Adine's camera, kept coming for more close-ups.
Love all the information as we watch the Herd graze, thank you. And Khanyisa always looks especially adorable when she's grazing with her eyes closed. ❤🐘❤

Now that he's harmed her, it will not be easy for Mambo to do further harm. Bubi is very smart and in sync with the behavior of all tge Herd. She will defend herself when necessary, but the whole Herd of females will not tolerate Mambo attacking her ot any other while in the bush. Mambo is perhaps the most aggressive bull in Herd, but the females will gang up on him if he's not careful.

In the wild, do all bulls test their mothers?? I’m surprised none of the older girls have reprimanded him..I LOVE how the herd trusts everyone (their two legged family) and allows them to clean and take care of the wound without sedation..it’s absolutely phenomenal the love and trust between everyone..I LOVE you all so much..be careful, stay safe, stay healthy and God bless you all

Poor Bubi, but nothing too serious... Rather like teenage sons who rebel and argue with their mothers - someone they know and whose responses they can gauge. In other words - someone safe to argue with! Still, all in all, a lovely peaceful, and beautiful herd who look after and love each other! Thank you for all the lovely photography and education in their lives, individually and as part of the herd.

Mambo is pushing his luck too far one day one of the bigger bulls will punished him in the same way what he inflicted on Bubi It is already the second time that he challenges Bubi revengefully I am surprised that none of the dominants have interferred Fishan I can understand but Sebakwe, Somopane or even Tokwe Is there anything to do to temperate his ardour ?

My little brother still has scars from our own inner family squabbles 40-45 yrs ago.

I love meeting the carer's and hearing from them. I remember seeing a video on the dung beetle (the sacred scrab of Egypt) and the jaw dropping speed the elephant dung was carried way by the beetles, back into the earth to nurture the hatching dung beetle but every nutrient returned to the earth. Ultimate recycling. A forest ranger once told me, everything that falls to the ground in nature is recycled.

He is mischievous!
He's perhaps the most aggressive bull of Herd, but keep in mind all the bulls are gentle and patient in this Herd, unless challenged or there's a danger their defending. Mambo is also growing and young bulls tend to be more aggressive and pushy. That's when the females in the Herd will defend each other as a group, and may ban him. If he's banned Lundi would try to be the peacemaker, and as she's well respected he may get back into the Herd.
In another braver life, this is where I would have used my love of elephants & veterinary technologist degree. Im too old now. But I mourn missing out on these experiences.

Good thing elephants have 4 "stomaches" for all that roughage. No wonder they are constantly pooping and passing gas. As keystone species, elephants help the ecosystem and other animals. I recently saw a video of baboons eating from piles of elephant dung looking for the undigested foods that elephants excrete.
Will the herd run Mambo away if he continues to harass and wound the other members of the herd? Thank you for all your dedication to this herd. I do enjoy this program.

I would like to see a 'update' on Fishan. In the videos, his leg appears to be swollen. But I doubt this because I doubt you would be taking him out on a walk if it was. But I worry about him. How is he coping with his injured leg?
He looks stiff too. It's amazing how well he does, considering how bad the injury was. I always worry extra about him ❤️❤️❤️
