The biggest difference that I have noticed is that back then you had Musicians, lyric writers and song writers got together. Singers and producers ( who were usually also musicians ) who generally worked for a record company and they all collaborated to produce great music.
You’re absolutely correct. You don’t hear if musicians in the studio playing live instruments while recording. Business executives now run the music industry vs actual musicians. Instead of cultivating true artists, musicians and singers for a long term career they only look for one hit wonders they can make in the studio. Kenny is flat foot 10 toes down sanging!!
