I don't get why people are complaining that Trivium has a different sound each album. Isn't that what we want? I recall A LOT of people complaining when every song from a band sounds that same. Make up your minds people and try giving it more than one listen. The more you listen to each song, the more it will sink in and you will become addicted to this album like I am now!
Man I frickin love Vengeance Falls as well as every album!!! It's ok guys if u just aren't as big a Trivium fan as I am. Every one of their albums is way different from one another so they may some big ups and down for the lot of u. But as for me, Trivium is just one great big up, from ETI to VF.
I totally agree with you having David as their producer, they mainly focused the album on vocals. But with trivium every album is different. Ember and Ascendency was whatever they wanted to play, Crusade was about what they thought people would like, Shogun was all the good stuff from the past records put together and In Waves was like Shogun but more about visual image and what image their music should portray. So every album has a different focus which is what makes trivium unique :)
And he did. His vocals on this album are downright amazing I think
With as dark as the album is said to be; I'm surprised there wasn't more screaming vocals on some parts of the songs. I totally understand that he can get more hurt and sincere emotion across with clean vocals, but the screams this man can let loose could really drive home certain themes.
Screaming is kind of one-dimensional as far as what you can convey though. It's basically just aggression or anger.
+DontsayY .
Pain, depression, sadness, anguish, empathy(maybe).
Jake Luhrs of August Burns Red is like a master of conveying all kinds of emotion in his screams
what matt was saying about releasing anger and emotions in the form of a song... so true. never let someone else drag you down when you can use them to make a kick ass song!
I have listened to it like 5 times and it just gets better for me.
Yes, been waiting for this
I agree completely, those two songs are the only ones I find to be Disturbed-esque.
Thank you for uploading.
Great! Thank you a lot guys for this video!
Amazing album! Great job once again!
You guys are absolutely amazing, getting to meet you and see you progress over the years is truly inspiring. can't wait till you come back to new york again, even though you were just here haha
favorite album!!!!
Cuz Matt singing voice is damn awsome! =)
This is an awesome Album. I went through an experience a while ago and i would listen to this album to help me through it. But only thing is now every time i listen to this album, especially the songs Wake and As Im Exploding, all those feelings and memories pop back up again. But other than my favorite album from them. \m/
Cool dokumentary to a great album!
Keep on rocking guys, you stand among the best metal bands of the last 10 years!
Greetings from Germany =D
Album of the year.
It will grow on you. David is a very talented singer, and it was not his intention to make Matt his twin, but to melodically enhance his vocals. If you listen to a track from In Waves then a track from Vengeance Falls, you will notice how much more powerful his vocals are sounding. And Matt was willing to take the advice from Draiman so if you are complaining about him you are also essentially complaining about Matt.
Amazing :-)
great video
The first album is still their best!!!
"Hey David, what do ya think about this??"
-_-
Oh MKH... I love you so much!
Trivium. This album is amazing. It's different of course, but why the fuck would I want a record like all the rest? That's what is so great about trivium. If I want to listen to a different sound I just pick an album, ascendancy, shogun, crusade,a all have different sounds that suit different moods. Vengeance falls has been my most played album for the past week. It just fucking speaks to my emotions and is well written both lyrically and instrumentally.
Yeah, I think it's something Matt has wanted to do, because it's more of a challenge to actually sing, then just scream. Plus it nobody sings like him, you absolutely can't confuse Trivium with anyone else, and most of that is due to his vocal style, that's what I think makes a band great, when they sound badass and you can't mistake their sound.
yeaaaa
So cool to see Matt wearing a Venom t-shirt \m/
I thought the same a few days ago, but the more I hear the album the more I get used to it as an actual Trivium album.
I think this song is more about the inspiration behind "No Hope for the Human Race" (which is a bonus track) than "Villainy Thrives."
You notice how Matt says, "I'm probably going to die tonight; I'm not going to be going home"? He says, "I'll never see my home again" in "No Hope for the Human Race." However, I do agree that said track and "Villainy Thrives" are under the same influence.
Ahh, thanks dude, I'll listen out to the lyrics when I get the album c:
People hate on Draiman so much, but I love listening to his insight
I completely agree with the vocal influence. "To Believe" sounds a lot like "Vilify" by Device.
Villainy Thrives suddenly means SO much more!!!
I thought that In Waves would be hard to top but you guys fcking did it.
Love Matts singing voice on VF. Awesome !!!
I agree to a point. When I first heard this album I said to myself, wow Matt listened WAY too much to Disturbed before going into the studio. Now that I see that David produced the record it all makes sense. I then went back and really listened to it and tried to see the development of Matt's Vocals and while I do think I liked In Waves a lot more, I still respect the growth of the band and like this album in its own way.
dramain seems like really good dude!
He's a boss
I'm so glad they worked with him, they really matured after this record, and I'm not even really a big disturbed fan, but yeah Draiman is _the_ man
I met these guys on the 17th in Las Vegas! They're cool as fuck.
Great opinion, I feel the same way!
I wouldn't say a lot of them do, but I agree some of them do.
Amazing! Fuck all you haters, Trivium has been the most influential to me personally because every album is different and they put everything the have into it.
Only vocal parts I noticed were Disturbed influenced were the verses of Brave This Storm and To Believe.
You could add Villany Thrives and Through Blood, Dirt And Bones to this. Don't get me wrong, I am totally in love with the new album!
The next video-clip should be of Villainy Thrives :D
I hear Disturbed during The Vengeance Falls' chorus. I like it but I cannot deny that it sounds as if David wrote it.
cool.
What song are they talking about? Or are they talking about all of them?
Vengeance Falls as well.
I love you
It will grow, I promise. Damn fine album, different, but damn fine nonetheless.
this album is just in waves II
Probably, yeah. I haven't listened to Disturbed all that much to notice that one.
I think the way Matt look here is just great - it's something lilbit diferent, something NEW. I thought this is kinda his new style and was upset that when the record actually came out he again became "standart", "regular" Matt :)
I actually really like this album. I like all of Trivium albums, not b/c I'm a kiss ass, but b/c they all have something different to offer. The lyrics are really good. I understand where Matt was coming from. Sometimes you just snap. Sometimes, no matter how calm you try to be, you just have a dark view of the world. It happens. I like the vocals too. People are saying that they sound like Draiman, but they dont. I like the album as a whole. Good stuff. Now make a video for "To Believe".
we all like trivium, we respect that with every album they do something different each time, but i think we all, in the back of our heads even a little bit we think that david was way too much involved
for myself i am still waiting for shogn part 2, that album was a beast!
I could be wrong, but if I remember correctly in the In Waves documentary he says that the screaming he had been doing in previous records-tours had started to take their toll on his throat, so he decided to start singing clean. I could be wrong on this tho, someone might want to verify this. Personally I don't like screaming, so the change to clean vocals is really welcoming for me, but I can understand how long-time fans feel about the change I guess.
5:51 David Draimen: "He's not sounding like anyone other then *pauses* Matt Heafy, and that's a beautiful thing"
i wonder if in that pause he thought to say "David Draimen" lol
whats the song in the background?
I respect David.
WTF! who jumped Matt I want names!
On god we sliding
@@dutchvanderlinde4713what is the song
@@shred9475 No hope for the human race
gee dude your such a badass
Those realities even existing are exactly his point. It's a let down to have humanity behaving that way in the first place.
funny fact...david´s looking stoned all the time ;)
i was just going to comment that LOL
MUSIC IS A WAY OF LIFE... Listen.... not music on raidio just dun make sense TRIVIUM!! \m/
That's what a documentary is about. You're thinking of a studio recording diary
Alright don't take this like me shitting on you because that's not my intent but Trivium has always been a controversial band. Every album has been so different than the previous. I think it's great that there are some instances where David gave his input because it really pushed Matt to develop his vocal range with David being a very ranged singer himself. Anyway man I hope it grows on you! If you get the deluxe album there's some classic Trivium beauty in As I Am Exploding :D
And me being a vocalist as well I understand where he is coming from. Anyone can scream. It actually takes more talent to sing. I love screaming. Its fun. I do it in my band but I also want to enhance my vocals better. I wish I was matt and doing what he is doing. He is doing alot for him to sing. Trivium has a lot of knowledg at what they do.Every album sounds different but yet its still a Trivium Good album. I dont mind drainman helping big with this album. Just as long as its still Trivium.
I think it's kind of ironic Draiman is bashing autotune though when he uses it live :X If you don't believe me watch the Sound of Silence performance from Conan.

We had The Crusade and Shogun for that.
Good point though.
Favorite sandwich?
I see that I'm not the only one that notice this... I thought I was becoming crazy.
id say device more than disturbed, disturbed was quite different vocally
They probably waited for Corey to leave otherwise he would've kicked all their asses at once lol
COME TO PUERTO RICO
Maybe this album makes too much sense, I want some more ember to inferno like lyrics honestly, great album by the way!
David strikes me as pretty stoned.
Paolo looks like a little David... Just me?
sees bald guy in thumbnail*
damn Paolo looks different
Well I think Matt wrote lyrics that can be sung in a tune
Anyone noticed...?
Where are David's chin rings?
Maybe Matt just didn't want to scream as much on this album. Everyone acts as if David made Matt sing the way he does but maybe that's what Matt wanted. It is possible that he wants to learn how to be a better singer and not rely on yelling all the time.
I agree with you. If you like David's work that could be a good thing, but at least that isn't my case. I've loved Trivium since Ember to Inferno, and I have despised Disturbed since The Sickness, so this is certainly disheartening for me. I feel kinda bad saying this, but I can't find that thing that has made every Trivum album special on this one. There are a few tracks I quite enjoyed here, but apart from revisiting those, I know I'll probably never listen to Vengeance Falls as a whole again.
Das crazy but nobody asked
If you know how, that is not a problem either. But to bands like Bullet for my Valentine; there was no technique used, so they had to quit screaming. But yeah, everyone can do it.
I wonder what town they were in when those guys jumped them? Does anybody remember what they look like?
for sure man. But if you want brutality go 2 Ember and Ascendancy lol
Matt or David, why so few growls?
Okay how can you guys argue with what some other people want to do. First off you dont have a say in what Trivium wants to do. If you dont like it. Listen to their older shit and just get the fuck out and quit complaining. If you broaden you mind maybe you would understand what Trivium is trying to do. Trivium has alot of amazing songs. Theyre geniuses and masters at what they do. Matt wanted to enhance his vocals and better himself as a vocalist.
4:20
David: I never did and I don't want to use Autotune
*Uses autotune for Sound of Silence*
these are too short
There is no "maybe" here.
And again, he told us all on the live stream that he want to sing better because every-fucking-one can actually scream. But singing takes more skill.
When on top of that, everything became less offensive, it seems to be that there is some kind of realm that i miss. Because i agree with all the messages that was brought up in the lyrics; which again was intentional to be NOT just shit we interpret as listeners. I can take it. After all, i am Norwegian.
Hey Matt, my name is Mike. I know how it is to be jumped/robbed by people. I'm only 19, but I bet I would make a good body guard. I'm currently pursuing a career in criminal justice and I will get my black belt in Tang Soo Do (Korean Karate) in February of next year. If you need a body guard I'm your guy. Just give it a thought.
everyone can but you got be careful not to scratch your voice up
You know nowadays Matt's been very vocal about him singing much better (since the release of VF actually) and stuff because of David and blabla...BUT actually nowadays according to EVERY live video that I'm TRYING to watch his live singing is actually... very odd =| It's sounds like he's trying to make fun of someone or something or just kinda joking. Cause it doesn't sound like normal or proper singing, like a parody I would say =| It's like he's doing something not normal with his larynx while singing or what..
No offense, with all due respect and love.
Like his vocals at rock am ring 2014? I'm guessing. He tore up his voice early this year so to continue touring he took a couple weeks off and went back out for the big festivals but he couldn't scream at all or scream normal. He was basically just singing through his nose the whole show.
Sing normal*
patrick sharp Yeah, sounds totally like something like it... Yeah, RAR 2014, but I recall the same thing earlier too, before his voice broke down. If I'm not mistaken. And I think I'm not.
I feel like Matt is in a phase right now and in a few years he'll be different.
MickAshMetalMan Check out The Wretchedness Inside, the vocals there are pretty damn good. I believe that was recorded before the incident to his vocal chords happened..But I'm sure the nasal voice you refer to is because he damaged his vocal chords around that era.
I wish it was 50% singing 50% screaming instead of the 98% singing 2% screaming
In my opinion I think David influenced the vocal sound way too much. A lot of the vocal melodies sound like Disturbed. I loved where they went with the last album but this is totally different, in a way that doesn't sound like trivium to me. I hope maybe that's just my first impression and that it will grow on me.
god David’s voice is no damn nice
4 people use autotunes.
doesn't bother me at all.
Im not buying shit just for 3 or 4 cool songs (Villany thrives, No hope for human race and Wake (the end is nigh are the best songs of the album i've heard so far)
Sorry trivium but slowly i feel its flame is dying...in your arms lol
