Howdy Jared. This was a great video and Providence is so laid back it is horiontal compared to New York City. You seem to have adjusted to the slower pace and got some great shots of your hometown. The relection shot was, in my opinion, really well captured. The picture, from 2021, of the person with the umbrella in the alley is DEFINITELY a shot to be proud of. Another photo of note in my opinion, was the one at the 11:10 mark when you walked into the the shadow making it appear as if you had a hat on. Keep shooting and putting out the videos AND thanks for sharing your work and perspective of the areas around you.
Hi Jared. Great video and it is always nice to go back and shoot somewhere different. The puddle shot was my favourite. I did the opposite years ago moving away from the busy streets of London to a small seaside town on the coast. I recently went on a London photowalk with Alex Kilbee who runs The Photographic Eye channel on UA-cam (well worth a look) and it was totally different from what I am now used to. Sometimes it is good for the photographic soul to step out of your comfort zone and take on a new challenge just to keep things interesting. Take care buddy. Tony
Fellow Rhode Islander here, just stumbled across your channel even though I don’t do street photography all that much (because RI 😆) but sometimes exploring cities while they are empty is more interesting to me. Architecture, shapes etc. Probably because I photograph people all the time at weddings so that kind of fills my void for people watching. Nice video though.
great video Jared - Sometimes just switching to a prime from a zoom gets me in the groove, and other days the zoom works magic. Looks like a great small city to shoot in :)
@@BMadPhoto thanks so much!! Something about a prime does it for me too. I think literally having the option to zoom is too many options for me 😂 I’ve learned I need to keep it as simple as possible. It really is a great city to shoot in 😌 has a ton of character and charm
Dope you was back out here and made video a of the city. Definitely my favorite pics where the two you shared as yours also good shit bro the bird shot is 🔥🔥
Nice video Jared! Love seeing Providence differently through your pov. The city does pose a challenge at times whether it's day vs night, summer vs winter, or busy vs not busy but I love how it kinda forces you to change your perspective creatively. A group shoot would definitely be fun and one for the books!
@@justinaperture thank you Justin!! Totally agree, it always pushes you to see and think differently, and it’s so fun to see what you come up with and make out of it. We’ve all been able to make a lot out of downtown and cool to see how there’s always still new perspectives. Can’t wait for the group session when it can work! 🙏🏻
Great photos, man! Hey, curious question: Has anyone given you any grief when you've been around shooting? I've done it a few times, and no one has given me a hard time, but I still hold off doing it more often, mostly for that reason haha I do know that most people don't notice or care enough to say anything anyway
At 8:21 the puddle shot -- it worked. Beware of puddles and window reflections, when used more than a time or two per month. You will know it when you see it, once the perfect reflection shot is rendered. Keep them special. At 11:13 you made a great observation and captured it! The shot at 11:31 is really composed well. Maybe crop-out the person on far right. In the scene the subject is walking towards the larger area, which is a great decision, IMO. That is a cool building at 13:33 and the Tesla shape goes well with the shapes on the vertical right -- it is winner. When looking at tall building like this one, a photo taken in the vertical, with a person at the door, then cropped way down to the narrow view makes people so small, and a building so dominate, it has a special feel. Printing such might not be so fun 🤓 Keep seeing, and finding out how a camera will render what you see, from foreground to background, as it is a lifetime experience in that process. People are beautiful, and you are a understanding this, would be my sense, so just approach people as though they are your family. Street photography has such soul. - take care, Loren
Having to do video and snapping images at the same time must be extremely hard and a bit stressful. Why not try a doing a shoot of say ten or so great snaps, then do a voice over on the thought process, and a bit on what the area / surroundings are like. That way you can edit out the lesser quality images, do not have to do the work of two people simultaneously, and just concentrate on one thing at a time. Many decades ago I had to do a speech for a composition class, which I begun with, " I am not good at speaking in public." After the talk, my teacher then said, I did well, but never start a talk in such a way, and you will do fine. He went on to say, once you begin with saying you can not do something, people then focus on the negative, in wait of a stubble. I will never forget that. When I hear someone say that they struggle, I am then looking for it. For 2025, I would love to see your best swagger and confidence that you have arrived. Really, I will suppose you have seen the edits and massive number of negatives, of the old masters which never saw the light of day to print. Adding a few which did not work, then explaining what went wrong is something I get, and has value. Just saying I am impressed by what you can do, thus more of it -- more swagger. If you are still looking for another camera, the Nikon Z5 + 40mm can be had, when on sale, for under $1,300. Decent dynamic range, two card slots, tilt-only monitor, which is better for street. Maybe the video one is the Nikon Z30 or a Sony inexpensive -- I don't do video? Thanks for the great video, Loren
The part about focusing on the negative or looking for the stumble when it’s prefaced that way…that is a great perspective, I’ve never thought of it that way before. I’m historically hard on myself, and I guess have found comfort in setting the tone by saying something isn’t perfect to avoid someone saying it’s not perfect 😂 As far as the video goes, I’ve reverted back to a much simpler workflow that I’ve used in the videos coming out this week. Instead of switching lenses to film, I film with my phone and GoPro instead. I like the feel and perspective that having broll clips add to the video, I think they add context as to where I am and what the surroundings look like. Always a work in progress. Really appreciate your feedback, thanks for sharing and being here 🙏🏻
Nice video and a lot of great photos; but I hardly consider 190,000 people a "Small City" by any means. That typically would be a place that's like 5,000-25,000 people. But I suppose measuring population centers in the Midwest (unless you live in Chicago) is a lot different then the East Coast
@@NorthWolfPhotography thank you! Agh yeah it’s tough because when you search providence, the population makes it seem like a decent size. But in terms of street photography, the downtown city area is only a couple blocks that can be walked in its entirety in 20 minutes, with a few surrounding areas. I guess I should’ve mentioned that as well for context haha
Very inspiring video! Thank u.
Pigeon crossing was amazing ❤

0:29 Hello! I love the reflection of the rust colored building. I want to try to find something similar! I enjoyed your video.
Aghh thanks so much! love the architecture in the city 😌🙏 it's always great to remember to look up wherever you are!

It absolutely is! That's right you do! That's so awesome. Having fun and shooting is what it's all about 😌🙏
Really fun video and nice tour of your hometown! Thanks for taking us along!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for watching! 🙏🏻🙏🏻
East Providence native here. Love to link if you’re ever shooting around the city again. Great work!
Nice video happy Sunday.. providence looks really chill and nice...the 24 🥞 ftw ...
Happy Sunday man! Thank you! It really is a nice city, the community and art scene is amazing too. Once again, the pancake proves to be my favorite 🙏🏻
