I'm American and this is actually how I was raised to eat and live, so I've never had a weight problem. Learn the basics of cooking, so you can imagine and create all kinds of meals. For example, today I was preparing my lunches for the week and I found a cauliflower head I had forgotten to cook last week. I had planned to just dip it in hummus but decided a soup might be better because it would likely go bad before I could finish it. After looking through my pantry, I found a shallot and 2 red bliss potatoes. Perfect! Then I had a bunch of parsley I bought yesterday. Even better! I chopped it all up. Then I figured I could make it a little heartier with some white beans. So I dug some out from my dried beans stash. Sauteed shallot and potatoes in Kerrygold butter (I know, it's not EVOO, but it goes great with parsley and potatoes - gives a better flavor!). Added the cauliflower, some salt, pepper, dried thyme from my plant, and added the beans once they were cooked, including the water they cooked in (aquafaba is great for you!). Topped it with parsley. Voila! Delicious! Oh, and I used the cauliflower leaves. They provide flavor too.
People confuse healthy eating with bland and boring. It's not if you do it the right way. It's way better than the processed crap most Americans consume. Take the time to cook. It'll pay off. I'm a 42-year-old nurse, so I speak from experience. ;) Happy living!

The younger generations, a lot of them have lost the art of cooking. Never dated a woman who could cook half as good, not even one quarter as good as their mothers. Jokingly, I was dating them to eat their mothers cooking. To be honest, in most things they could not even cook better than me. And I am just average.
And men in general do not cook. I am not talking popping something in the microwave or out of a can either. Of course there are chefs and bakers, I am just speaking in general. Although an Asian male friend is actually the cook in the home, as the wife never really learned.
But most people eat out or buy TV dinners or still live at home and eat their parents cooking. It's not hard, although it can be time consuming, which is understandable why a lot of people do not do it every night. But you can make batches or to eat healthy, make the time. Watch TV when you cook so it does not feel so much like a chore. Just not while chopping...

I'm finishing your clean eating program and I'm starting the diet plan on Monday. When I think about these 5 habits, I think #2 is my pitfall. I realized this over the last few weeks. I often didn't even remember to get to the dashboard at the end of the day. I have a great morning routine (drinking water, walking, even a little work out and always an apple a day), but by the end of the day, I'm tired and don't have my routines to get me through to bed time. Time to start that new habit! Thanks!

I have recently started the Mediterranean diet and I have lost 8-1/2 pounds, I feel good and - most surprisingly - I have not felt hungry. I intend to continue eating this way for the rest of my life as I honestly believe it is the healthiest diet I have ever heard of. I don’t eat any processed foods and very little sugar. Also, it doesn’t involve spending money following commercial weight-loss programs, which I did for many years. Thank you for these helpful videos.

I am sorry to say that I did not stay on the Mediterranean diet consistently. It was expensive and difficult to constantly be buying fresh fruit and vegetables. However, I do follow it for a few weeks at a time, then revert to my former habits. I exercise consistently which helps as far as weight control is concerned and I have decided to eat as healthy a diet as possible, even if it is not all the time. About the carbohydrates, I didn’t eat a lot of pasta but I do eat bread which is a hard habit to break. Thank you for your comment. Good luck!

One of my biggest issues is snacking: I tend to be allergic to many fruit - never quite sure if it's a seasonal thing, pesticides? or something with histamines because it's on and off. But apples will give me a bit of a reaction most of the time. So quite often I will have nothing at all and be more than mild hungry or I often eat the wrong things. Do you have any advice on possible healthy snacks that do a similar thing? I appreciate your content! Thanks.

We honestly don't go out to eat very often as we live in the middle of nowhere and because we have a 2 year old. I still find I can eat out Mediterranean or at least follow the basic guidelines. The trick is to get something that is good for you and will be tasty and will satisfy you. When I am traveling I use yelp to find great local Mediterranean places. The good thing about many of these places is that they also have serious comfort food that your husband could enjoy also.
