I've been bugging @outsidewithmike to let me know when he goes on a day hike so I could join him.
We went to his stomping grounds over at Mission Peak. He is exactly how he is in his videos. Super cool dude. We pretty much chatted the whole time. I cracked up a lot. It made time go by a lot faster.
Thanks for showing me around! I'll be waiting for the video and announcement😁

Nicely done! Looked like a beautiful hike.
Yeah it was my first time there. Loved the views from up top and the breeze was refreshing.
Nice! Y'all are out there braving this heat! Those views are spectacular! When it's this hot out I will only hike if there is a pool of water I can jump into, lol!
It was nice considering it's been way hotter recently. The breeze was really nice. There were quite a few people still hiking up when we were heading down. Those views up there were pretty sweet. Makes me want to do the Ohlone Wilderness Trail once I saw the other side of the ridge. Mission Peak trailhead is the start or end of it.
Hi Rod, great open spaces, not so green with that heat, you did well, I see you like to cover up in the sun, I may start.
Cheers
@@northumberlandmountainhopper Yeah I don't mess around with the sun these days. I cover up with a sun hoodie and use sunscreen on my face. At least I don't need as much. Sun umbrellas are nice on really hot days.
Beautiful landscapes. Looked like a loooooong climb up and exposed to the sun. But still looked like fun. What mic were you using?
Yeah we were joking the people who carved out the trails probably did the trails I go backpacking lol.
I picked up a Fulaim X5 on sale a while back. It's a budget version of the DJI or R0DE wireless mics. I like that it has an 1/8" input on the transmitters so you can plug in a lav to hide the mic. Or even plug in a boom mic to make it wireless. It has internal recording too. When you plug it to your computer it shows up as a drive and can copy the .wav files.
Works with my phone too.
I carry 1 transmitter and the receiver with a small USBC to USBC cord when backpacking. I recently picked up a cage for the DJI Action 4 to mount the receiver on a cold shoe, but most of the time I just clip the receiver right on the cord and it stays in place.
Hey Rod, was great meeting and hiking with you today! Had a lot of fun. You got some great shots! Looks like I talked over your entire video oops! We'll have to do a big hike soon...say 5 1/2 weeks from now? 😉 😁
Same! I just cut out the parts where i was talking hah. It was cool to chat the entire time. I'll be training!
Interesting hike but limited tree coverage. I see you found some shade and little breeze.
It was a pleasant surprise. I thought it was exposed the whole way but there were two springs along the way. I would have never thought there would be a water source. I didn't fill up though. Brought up over 2L and had 1L left. The breeze was nice so I wasn't chugging water.
Love the episodes and thinking of doing a two nighter at Henry Coe at the Gilroy entrance at the end of August . What is the water situation like?
Thanks! The creeks are pretty much dried up. The small ponds have water though. You can check the water map here. coepark.net/map/water.php
That's a cool little mic. I might have to get one of those... Was that woman hitting on Mike? 😅
@@highcountrychronicles lol I think she's playing hard to get. She told Mike before if she saw him again they would be hiking buddies. That was the 2nd time. So I guess maybe the third time 😂
@@rodoutdoors 😂 "Every Monday" from what I heard on his video. Sounds like a date to me. 🙃
@@highcountrychronicles Ya was 2nd meeting now its third meeting lol. Shes quite a character.
Do you know if there is wheelchair access at that trailhead? I need 3' clear.
I can't say for sure, but from what I remember it looked like it's possible.
Yes there is more than enough room :)
