      @@vegaj.r1754 During the Pacheco Falls trip the foot box might have been a bit damp. No issues the last trip. I have the Argon 90 top too which isn't as breathable as the Argon 67 option.

    Really looking forward to your Whitney hike. When I did it in July 2015, there was a complete white-out about a quarter of a mile from the summit. Couldn't see a thing when I got to the top. I'd like to do it again someday.

      Dang that sounds sketchy. Glad you made it back down safe. I hope the weather is nice out there 🤞 I just want to get there really. Hope everything goes smoothly and just try to have a good time with the group. Train as much as I can in the meantime but I'm really looking forward to fishing the days before the hike. Hopefully I can catch something.

      @@rodoutdoors Thanks. It got sketchy pretty quickly and seemingly out of nowhere. Definitely one of my more memorable summits, though, despite not getting to see the view. And a good reminder that mountain weather can change quickly. By the time I got back to Trail Camp, the sun was shining, my pants were dry, and no one would've believed a squall had just blown over the summit.

    20 pounds is a heavy pack for Whitney I think. I'll have to dig into my old computer and check my loadouts from last year. I'll send them. I think I was around 12 pounds. I think for food I had 2 peanut butter sandwiches, a banana, some bars, a couple of Stinger waffle things, electrolytes, maybe a Tuna Creations pack, trail mix. I ate heavy the night before and the morning of the hike.

      @@outsidewithmike Yeah seems a bit heavy. It's mostly clothes though. That's with full water so it shouldn't be too bad up to Trail Camp. I'm thinking of eating a lot of carbs the day before but will probably pack a lot of calories anyway.

    Nice! I love the Mt. Whitney hike-I did it in a day and I promised myself I would never do that again, lol. I will backpack it next time. Can’t wait to see footage of that hike! I wasn’t making videos yet when I did that hike and I wish I had it on film.

      @@rodoutdoors the elevation didn’t effect me at all, I think because I did the six pack of peaks and then the week before the Mt. Whitney summit I did the Iron to baldy traverse-which made doing Whitney a little bit easier. I didn’t see much tho because I had to moving so fast (on the Whitney hike). I wish I could have stopped and enjoyed it more! I also did camp at the Whitney portal to acclimate as well. Worth it! Because it helps. We also did a test run hike the day before up to Lone Pine Lake. I like your cold weather gear and backup gear because it is cold up there even in September! You look dailed in!

      @@roamwiththewind That's awesome. Great it worked out for you. I'm thinking of heading out to Emigrant Wilderness a week or two before so I can try to acclimate a bit beforehand. Then maybe a few days before the hike head over to Cottonwood Lakes at around 10000 ft. Maybe rest the day before the hike around Whitney Portal so I don't overexert myself.

    There's a park near Aptos with hiking trails, and I believe there is a Buddhist temple at the bottom where you park. I wanted to check it out some time, temple and hike. Great now I have Wham! stuck in my head!

      It was nice considering it's been way hotter recently. The breeze was really nice. There were quite a few people still hiking up when we were heading down. Those views up there were pretty sweet. Makes me want to do the Ohlone Wilderness Trail once I saw the other side of the ridge. Mission Peak trailhead is the start or end of it.

      Yeah we were joking the people who carved out the trails probably did the trails I go backpacking lol. I picked up a Fulaim X5 on sale a while back. It's a budget version of the DJI or R0DE wireless mics. I like that it has an 1/8" input on the transmitters so you can plug in a lav to hide the mic. Or even plug in a boom mic to make it wireless. It has internal recording too. When you plug it to your computer it shows up as a drive and can copy the .wav files. Works with my phone too. I carry 1 transmitter and the receiver with a small USBC to USBC cord when backpacking. I recently picked up a cage for the DJI Action 4 to mount the receiver on a cold shoe, but most of the time I just clip the receiver right on the cord and it stays in place.

      It was a pleasant surprise. I thought it was exposed the whole way but there were two springs along the way. I would have never thought there would be a water source. I didn't fill up though. Brought up over 2L and had 1L left. The breeze was nice so I wasn't chugging water.

I took a lot from Andrew Skurka's guide. andrewskurka.com/guyline-tension-system-backpacking-tents-tarps-hammocks/ In the lighterpack it shows more details of my guy out lines and stakes. I use LineLoc Hooks too which are great but for the main lines I like using ZingIt and knots. McCarthy Hitch and Trucker's Hitch are handy.

      @@ryanolson2430 That's their typical lead times. Everything is made to order. I had my ultralight bivy made in wide with a side zip. Sometimes they'll stop orders completely to catch up. These are popular with ultralight backpackers. There are similar bivy like from Mountain Laurel Design but are more expensive.

    Great trip! That’s a beautiful area. The openness but yet trees around. Beautiful sunset while you were running. I like the color of the one light you were using that had warmer tones and that you can remove it and clip it to your shoulder strap. Seemed like you had cooler temperatures. I miss cooler temperatures lol. I love my UCO lantern. Just enough light.

      @@backpackingadventures4813 Thanks a lot! Yeah this headlamp rabbit hole really made me want to try them out lol. The Skilhunt H150 is my favorite for around the house or everyday use. It's really compact and can also use AA NiMH or alkaline batteries. I picked up an extra 1050mAh 14500 battery that has a USBC port built in. The warm light is really nice on the eyes. I really like the form factor of these right-angle flashlights. The clip is super useful and there's a magnet at the base to mount it on metal objects. Love the candle lantern. Felt it was being neglected lol. It's also great in the Winter to burn off some condensation under the shelter.

    i dont know why they shrinked down the water side pockets in the new edition. Otherwise i really like the pack, good weight distribution and it feels very agile.

      Yeah everything is pretty easy to cinch down. I guess the idea is to keep everything tight and not flopping around.
