12/31/2024 This is a compilation of backpacking and camping shelters I used in 2024. These were taken directly from my trip videos in 2024. As you can tell by the amount of use, I really enjoyed the Borah Gear 7x9 Tarp and Ultralight Bivy. It was a nice kit for my journey into fastpacking. In each of the trip videos there's a link to the gear loadout in the description. I hope you can get somet...

Enjoy your fishing channel. I fished at Sunset Beach but no luck. What is the name of the beach you were fishing at?
@@sarnsaelee9325 Thanks. Really close by.
Great video 👍🙂
@@stigfloberghagenphotography Thank you! Happy New Year!
Great compilation of your shelters this year. Great idea to show them all in one video.
Thanks! I was a bit busier this year so didn't go on as many trips as last year. It was fun to dial in the tarp & bivy. The hardest part of these compilation videos is not messing up the titles 😂 It helps that I do a lot of the same shots every trip. Like the pack weigh in, 'good morning', 'leave no trace', etc. I'm starting to do more starlapse so maybe this time next year I'll have a nice collection. Have a happy new year!
love your videos. I am headed to Hunting hallow road to do a video any tips on how to get water out of those springs without all the muck. If you get a chance check out Fat Guy and His Backpack. Thanks and love your videos
@@fatguyhisbackpack5755 Thanks! The water in the springs shouldn't be too bad. If filtering out of a pond maybe prefilter with a bandana or some kind of mesh. I bring a coupler on the Sawyer Squeeze so I can back flush with a SmartWater bottle too.
Nice adventures video!
@@borjealsbraden9874 Thank you! Have a happy new year.
Very interesting stuff. It's kind of like a medley mashup of all your videos from this year. Seems like a lot of time and energy involved in filming walk-bys. I like how you timed out the video at 20:24 too. Very cryptic. Happy holidays Brother. Look forward to your '25 creations. Go Warriors. Peace.
Whoa I didn't even notice the length was 20:24. That's a trip. That wasn't intentional 😂 Thanks a lot. Hope you have a great 2025.
I like these cuts in hiking videos.
I'm liking them more and more. A nice stable tripod shot is easier on the eyes to track and to see the background. I was mostly using a tiny Ulanzi MT09 tripod/selfie stick by setting it on the ground. I didn't bother leveling it and used the DJI Action 4's Horizon Balancing. So it was fast to set up. I'm starting to use a tiny Gorillapod now so I can hang the camera on branches and get higher shots, etc.
I can attest that those are some AWESOME tasting strawberries!!! I didn't realize they grew in the winter.
@@outsidewithmike Yeah he leaves are starting to come out. Probably start really producing maybe March/April.
Some bigguns! Hope they were tasty. Good job!
@@outsidewithmike Thanks! Might be a while until I get back out there.
Very nice, fire pellets.
@@RSLtreecare I cut up some wire mesh/garden cloth to try to prevent the pellets from falling through the bottom and sides too. 👍
That's a lot of hard work. Will appreciate strawberries a lot more now. Thank you for showing how it's done!😊
Yeah there's a lot involved. Thanks for watching!
That's awesome fascinating interesting stuff. Thanks very much for the sneak peek into a day in the life of a #berryfarmer . LMAO he says I don't think you'd find this on farm stimulator. So you guys use a tape measure for planting? And perforating the saran wrap exactly? However you do it it just looks like a ton of hard work. How many acres? Warriors turned out to be up and down a lot this year. Great entertaining video though and thanks again. Peace
Thanks a lot! I honestly couldn't tell you. I'm just shoveling mud for now 😅
Awesome vid Uncle Rodney!
Thanks, Alex!
great video i love the time lapses! who’s that handsome farmer in the wife beater😩? also we know that one arm of yours is buffer already 😏
lol
Breh 😂
I’ve never fished with a tide going in and out. Is it difficult. Sure looks fun. Merry Christmas my friend
@@BackpackingWithJason It can be if the waves are strong or during high tide. Or if the sand is really soft. Thanks! Merry Christmas!
Are there no bonfires allowed?
@@lee-226 You can get a fire permit for bonfires on the beach.
@ I’m gonna be camping there in January. It’ll be pretty cold. Shouldn’t I be allowed to camp in January with a campfire?
@@lee-226 it's a Preserve. Go in the Summer if you're worried about the cold.

Hi what beach are you fishing in Monterey

Possible that you are at Pajaro Dunnes in Watsonville
@@mikeschreiber6422 Ey you got it! 👍
I've fished sunset and manressa this summer no luck the Sacramento River is chocolate milk I'll be out this spring FISH ON
Love your channel! Do you fill up on water at the horse camp and bring some to camp? How much? Can you recommend an easy trail for me and my 11 year old son in spring where we don't have to cross a creek and can camp near water? Fishing would be a huge bonus. Thanks, Rod! Hope to see you on the trail one of these fine California days!
Sorry, I guess the water question doesn't apply to this site.😂 Do you ever camp at Henry Coe where you need to pack water to your site?
@@HuyNguyen-lu3zj This time of year I do because the water is so low and gross at the pond. I took around 3 liters from horse camp. I recommend Frog Lake or Two Oaks. It's an easy hike from HQ. There's a spring near Two Oaks camp but there's Frog Lake to filter from too. There's bass and bluegill in Frog Lake. Ridgeview is even closer. There isn't a water source nearby so sometimes I would hike up to Sierra View where there's a water source there. Can hike to Bass Pond which is probably the easiest place to fish in the whole place.
Nice! I use to fish sunset beach . Got some nice perch.
Thanks! It's always nice to get out there 👍
what rod are you using? and how much weight do you need?
@@234kwon Okuma Celilo 10'. It's a noodle stick so I usually use 1 oz max. I have a Rockaway for throwing heavier sinkers.
Would love to meet you out there and learn from you !
@@JulianGonzalez-p1p Oh there's way better fishing channels to learn from 😂
You need to smile or something, you just show depression and I'm guessing this is why you've been around for 3 years with so little subs. What is with that frown?? i.pinimg.com/474x/21/0b/12/210b12c2a7217b0f7587dd66580b393f.jpg
Cool. That's the place where I usually fish and haven't caught anything whatsoever :)
@@ArtyAnikey I saw a dude with his daughter with a pretty huge perch in their bucket. Didn't see much otherwise.
What was your bait? Do you catch anything on sand crabs? Do you really need that big rod for fish like that? I'm asking bunch of questions just because I'm learning to fish so far and got nothing whatsoever (except for anchovies for bait). I use live bait though (just my preference), almost every time. I have these artificial worms thingy but I never caught anything using whatever as bait anyways...
@@ArtyAnikey For bait, Lucky 13 picked up from Coyote Bait & Tackle. I usually use grubs because it's easier. A nice 10' rod with some braided line is nice to cast further out but you don't need to cast very far for perch. Thanks for watching 👍
Nice day of fishing!
@@backpackingadventures4813 I'm glad I didn't skunk this time. 😂 There are some nice ones this time of year.
Nice morning off fishing
@@dougheckathorn3925 Thanks! I'm glad I headed out.
I wanted to but the toaks windscreen for the trangia but was unsure if the tent pegs are high enough. Do you know what the distance is between the pot and the trangia?
@@woyen88 Around an inch. Just the right amount.
@ thank you!
Very nice! I got a few this morning, the biggest being 13.8 inches. The waves have been so big recently which is annoying because the fish are out there in numbers. Thursday looks promising at the moment. Good luck! 🐟🎣
@@Ducky2o Wow that's awesome. I don't think I've caught a perch that big. Keep it up!
I'm going to Del Mar tomorrow morning.
